I'm not against jalal for thinking of his praja , it's a noble cause , but you can see the difference in how he reacted in the two situations.

As for ruqs, she did say she will trust any decision of his in their conversation that night . She lashed out at everyone else but never directly asked him to change his mind. At least as far as I can remember.

Even HB was not around during the mc track , does she not love her son ? That's just the cvs and their confusion over who ruks is.

Meghna, I didnt say that jalal was partial to jo in the Tasneem issue .i said that he was partial to jo when there was a similar issue(religion) when jo was to be the victim. He placed jo and his promise to her above everything even his riyaya. Ariel has explained it more clearly.

Why didn't jalal talaaq jo on the religion issue as a praja loving raja but decided to give up his throne leaving his ENTIRE praja at the mercy of the next ruler.
But in Tasneem issue he easily concedes to talaaq ruqs for the sake of a law in an attempt to save ONLY the young girls.

Where has ruqaiya refused to trust jalal's decision? She even specifically stated she will accept his decision whatever it be even when she was the most affected party.

But jo has never been accomodating when she was the affected party. Her behavior has been more offensive.

If jalal feels so guilty for being the reason for Jodha's condition after her suicide attempt and becames so saintly tolerant and understanding of all her rants and misbehaviour, how come he is so insensitive to Ruqaiya's feelings in that last smiley's episode and doesn't understand her love in all the 11 years of their marriage and brushes it aside with 'I have no dil' declarations.

Jalal's inclination and preference to jodha would have been understandable only if jodha had been the reason behind their patch up and she had made efforts to bring the dil out of him. But since it has been the other way round, it certainly shows jalal as partial and jodha as undeserved.

As Ariel said, HB was not there for jalal to console him during the mc track only MA was there. That doesn't mean that ma loves jalal more than hb.

a very intelligent post! u summed up the whole track of tasneem case brilliantly by looking at the other side of what positive outcomes it had rather than bashing it down to trash which most of us did in this case..felt good after reading ur post👍🏼

I think we all agree unanimously that the execution of the tracks have been handled badly in the Tasneem case. Even the fake pregnency waala could have been dealt with better. And that is what most of us have an issue with - ek ko chadhane ke liye doosre ko girane ki zaroorat nahin.
This is not about Jodha teaching Akbar how to be gr8 - Akbar was already on his way to greatness - with his leaning for truth and empathy - Jodha added the ingredient of compassion to this to complete the formula.
And we do enjoy the Tedha Emperor's penchant for tedhaness!!!

The CV s in wanting to show how greatly Jalal was influenced by Jodha again failed big time in that religion conversion issue like in the Tasneem issue. They wanted to show him a man who kept his promises no matter what the price, but they failed to take into account that he had greater responsibilities as an Emperor. Now when we draw comparison of Jalal s behaviour in the religion issue versus this child marriage ban issue, Jalal indeed looks like a lesser man & not a very good husband to Ruq either, no matter how much we like or dislike Ruq . Don't know whether the CV s r aware how they r blundering so much in Akbar s portrayal, sadly

Ariel,
CVs have been so inconsistent in showing the characters developement and also with many loop holes in each track. Yes, Ja kept his promise over a throne as he felt a King who cannot keep his promise is no king at all. I somehow did not feel it was bcos of Jo that he sacrificed his kingdom. I was not happy with this Jalal that CVs gave us. When Ja sacrifices his marriage, he did it because he thinks Ruqu will understand. He considers Ruqu as his own, and you ask these kind of favors only from someone who is very close and will understand you. As you said Ruqu eventually understood that this decision was made as a king. This again did not come across to me as Ruqu not being important enough that he chose to let her go. Its CVs mistakes in all these tracks, they are giving us different kind of Jalal to show a shining Jodha..

Thank you all for all the comments. 😊
Leaving the incompetency of the CV's aside, lets look at Jalal and his relationship with the leading ladies.

What does Jalal expects from Jodha and Ruku? What are his expectations from his marriage to both of them?

He has been married to Ruku half of his life. There is warmth and understanding. They have boundaries and expectations set. Ruku is his khaas begum and always will be. So, he expects her to leave up to the title. She is an empress, chief queen. She is been in this whole game all her life, she grew up as a moghul queen. Of course he will expect her (as a chief queen) to understand his stand as a king. Also, even if he said that he divorcing her, was he actually going to go ahead with this? MA did catch onto the fact that he had the final farmaan ready.
A farmaan would have taken more than a day to be ready to be issued, so he had this done all along. He had created 2 of them to confuse everyone.
May be he was counting on Ruku's help to overcome AK and issue the 2nd farmaan. She was unable to contribute to anything on this matter.
Whole of this track was supposed have occurred within 2-3 days? Within this time, he saw disturbing thing sin his kingdom, took a huge step to correct the wrongs and his supposedly loyal brother asked him to divorce his wife of 10 years. He was personally affected and he was in shock and he was hurt. He had to raise above his personal grief. In spite of this, he did create 2 farmaans and looking a way out of it. Probably he would have found a way by himself. But Jodha just beat him to it.

Are we expecting him to be a person with no emotions, so even at the face of a personal grief, he comes up with super duper ideas? that he be detached all the time? He takes suggestions from Ruku and everyone else. So why not Jodha? Why does taking suggestion from Jodha make him weak, but not when he takes them from others?

Another track reference coming up hear is the religion conversion one for Jodha. I do not think that he was ready to sacrifice his kingdom for her. He was very shrewd. He threw that dice, because he knows that no one else will become the king and that people will ask him to stay on as a king. He made Rahim his heir and made sure he was still in control. And those days, changing the religion is like a death (no dis respect meant for any religion). Religion was your identity, the whole foundation of your life. Being a very religious and spiritual person himself, Jalal could not have forced someone else on this issue.

And also, that was a very political move for him. By siding with Jodha, he shown himself in a very strong light and made a little way towards his ambition (of winning rajputs, which he repeatedly told MA during Amer track). He had just found out that his soldiers are looting temples angering Rajputs. What better way to show them that he has nothing against their religion and solidifying his stand amongst rajputs than siding with Jodha.

Also, that he was able to be detached from the whole thing and think of the solutions when it came to separation from Jodha and not when this came up with Ruku says a lot of his affection towards Ruku. He was affected a lot duing tasneem's track because he was really attached to Ruku.

I am just trying to understand what is happening because CV's have done such a muck up job. They always failed to connect us to Jodha, but his time it was both Jalal and Jodha.

Love
Kshithi

Kshithi,
I'm surprised and happy to see your attempt to draw as much sense and understanding from this deadbeat track as possible.
But this track is so twisted and worthless that unless it is shown that jalal has been playing along for a very long time, perhaps since the Amer trip, having something else in his mind, nothing in this track can be justified.
There is nothing against Jalal taking advice from Jodha. But the advice didn't make sense at all.
What is the connection between jodha's idea to expose AK to awaam and the end result! !! None whatsoever.
Ultimately he canceled the reverse application of the law and punished AK. He could have easily done this himself 3 days ago in the DEK itself, without all the fuss and spared us the disgust.
Moreover, Jalal has been smart enough in more pressing situations. Be it saving Abdul from jail after nearly being caught, even in emotionally draining situations like fake pregnancy track he has retained his wits about him.

But this time, Jalal looked clueless throughout as he did during the religion issue. It doesn't go with the capable efficient smart emperor we were introduced to. It only makes us feel that he has been dumb-ed down for the sake of heroine-giri.
