After catching up on all the episodes today and finally seeing the end of Trial of Tasneem', I am compelled to write about it.
I can pin point six major developments in the story.
1) Healing of Jodha's last of the wounds
2) Cementing of Jodha's presense in Jalal's life
3) Jalal's journey towards becoming a great king
4) Jalal's realization and re-evaluation of his and Ruku's relationship
5) Another enemy coming out in open
6) Maham discovering the shaky ground she is in
Let's see this in detail.
Healing of Jodha's last of the wounds:
Jalal acknowledging that he too has erred in the way their wedding was arranged healed the last of Jodha's wounds. The burden Jodha was carrying about the way she was treated as an object, and less of person, her lack of choice to decide her own life was definitely eating her. Jalal by acknowledging her pain, was able to help her overcome last of her barriers. In a dialog between HB and her, it was clear that she is open to this relationship. She may not be ready for the physical intimacy yet, but she is ready to work towards her relationship with Jalal. This marks the beginning of her journey as a wife, not just as a queen.
Cementing of Jodha's presence in Jalal's life:
By involving herself in state affairs, by pointing out the areas of improvement in kingdom, Jodha is slowly becoming Jalal's confidante. He is finding her suggestions and points valuable. She is becoming his valuable and trustworthy ally. He is more open to discuss his problems and views with her. She has started to stand beside him as an equal, more than capable of taking the reins when required. He now knows that she is there with him always and will always catch him if he falls. This is what was missing in his life; a person to fall back on.
Jalal's journey towards becoming a great king:
Jalal by not making this case only about AK, but seeing the bigger picture is emerging as a true king. He stood by his principles even at the face of a great personal loss is truly commendable.
Jalal's realization and re-evaluation of his and Ruku's relationship:
For the first time, their relationship was under fire, but did they come out of it strongly? Ruku's insecurities were glaring in front of Jalal even after being together so many years. Instead of grieving together about the problem they were facing, Jalal was left to console Ruku. Jalal always had to be the stronger one. Instead of being with Jalal and understanding that as she, he was also feeling the loss of this relationship, moving past that and helping him find the solution, Ruku was only crying all the time leaving Jalal alone to face the problems. Did she really give justice to her Mallika-e-Khas' title? Like Jalal, she is also a queen for more than a decade. Did Jalal realize that she was grieving the loss of title along with Jalal?
It seems CV's have continuously drawn parallels with Ruku and Jodha (even in BB track and Birthday track). Jodha always came strong after each ordeal, unlike Ruku. After BB track Jodha still managed to understand Jalal's pain and console him, in spite her being the victim too. Ruku failed in this regard. Jalal is comfortable showing his tears in front Jodha, unlike Ruku. Jalal is always the stronger and the giver w.r.t. Ruku. But, he finds that he can let go in front of Jodha. That he can be vulnerable and need not be strong always with Jodha. He is comfortable confiding in front of Jodha than Ruku.
His and Jodha's relationship is always tested and they come out stronger and better out of it. However, first time Jalal-Ruku's relationship is tested, are they stronger now? Jalal may be realizing where his relationship stands w.r.t. to Rulu and Jodha.
Another enemy coming out in open
No brainer here. Now Jalal can clearly see some of his enemies, i.e. AK and Shariff.
Maham discovering the shaky ground she is in
Somehow I feel that Jalal is already moving out of Maham's influence. He may still respect her as Badiammi and Minister. However, he will not do blindly as she asks. MA has started to notice this. She realizes that with Jodha and Ruku on his side, she cannot control Jalal. Now that she has nothing to lose (AK is already on out in open), she is the stronger than ever.
I feel that in spite these developments, the script was not up to the mark. I mean, the script and direction was great even for the tracks as stupid as 'Fake Pregnancy'. CV's really had a great story with this, however, the treatment was not up to the mark.
