My dear Neha,
I am feeling like something the cat brought in , and I should be in bed, but I have wanted to reply to this one of yours for days now.
I do not go either by Wikipedia, where the entries are is not subjected to peer review by experts on the subject concerned, nor by quotes from any number of "books" cited without any indication of who wrote them and even about their titles.
It is easy to find any number of authors to support anything you want, including that alien visitors in millennia past built the Mayan and Aztec pyramids, and the Egyptian obelisks (the construction of which, especially at the great temples at Luxor and Karnak in Upper Egypt, is an enduring mystery), or that the Taj Mahal was originally a Hindu palace. So, unless these so-called facts are in books by reputed historians, I would not take them at face value.
As for what Ruqaiya was - Akbar's chief begum - that is documented by historians like Sir Jadunath Sarkar and in the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan multivolume series on the history and culture of India. But I have not read anything specific about the Princess of Amer who was the mother of Salim/Jahangir.
There are rarely any mentions of her by name - she is usually called the Mariam-uz-Zamani- and the fact that she was buried and not cremated would seem to indicate that she did convert to Islam at some point.
As for "Jodha", when the film Jodha Akbar was released in 2008, the director could not refute the attacks against him about Jodha, for the historians he cited and those the opposition cited contradicted each other totally.
She is not mentioned in the Ain-e-Akbari, nor, I am told, in the Jahangirnama, which is curious. I am sure she settled down quite well and had a high status as the mother of the heir apparent, but as for this amar prem kahani, I personally think it is all made up out of whole cloth.
Look, Akbar was always on wars of conquest or suppressing rebellions, and must have been in Agra only intermittently. When he was there, he would have been taken up with reforming the administration, where he did a very great deal, or having long discussions with scholars
Not like this Jalal, who seems to be stuck in Agra for keeps, and seems to do nothing much but walk around and look at sunsets, and who has all the time time to look into whether Adham can marry a 14 year old (in those days, and well into the 20th century in rural areas of India, child marriages at 7 or 8 were the norm, though the girl was sent to her inlaws only after she reached maturity) and selling chudis! What kind of great conqueror and emperor is this?
And which 16th century king or emperor would allow any wife of his to lecture him the way Jodha does, or be elated because she condescends to inform him that she no longer hates him? I watched that, and even with a fever and headache, I was in stitches. Though I must say Rajat's expression at that moment was fabulous.
The real Akbar must have cared primarily for his empire, and for Salim because he needed an heir, no matter how unsatisfactory he was, since Murad and Daniyal had died of alcoholism in their late teens. I am sure he had a lot of regard for his first Rajput queen - for there were many more after Jodha- but as for being madly in love with her, it is not at all likely.
But how does it matter? You should believe what you choose to believe, for after all, it does not hurt anyone.
Take care, my dear.

Aunty...I agree Ruqaiya was equal to Jalal in birth...she was his first wife & cousin so definitely she had an important place in his life...but how can she be the chief queen throughout...Jodha is Akbar's 3rd wife but it doesn't mean she is just no. 3...as shown in the show MUZ has ultimate powers which are even beyond the powers of a Minister...and she's the most authoritative person after the King himself...so how can Jodha being MUZ be sidelined by Ruqaiya...??...plz clear my confusion...I searched both on net...if u open the Wiki page of Ruqaiya...it says She was his chief queen...& if u go to MUZ's page...it says being mother of the heir she took precedence over all the other wives of Akbar...so contradictory...though Wiki's info is not very reliable...😆But I have also read history_geek's post & there the story is totally different...according to her MUZ was the richest woman in the Mughal court...a traveller mentioned that among all the wives of Akbar one was non-muhammadan but his chief queen...she used to take active part in the court too till the advent of Nurjahaan...

Dear Shyamala Aunty🤗,
Thank you so much, my dear, but I am not back, of this one was written 10 days ago! I am still very far from well. It has been a very bad bout of viral fever.
I had not been visiting the forum at all till yesterday, when I looked thru a thread about Jalal having an ace up his sleeve. I was taken aback by the confusion about even simple things like Hamida being the Malika -a-Azam and NOT the Malika-e-Hind, and by the strange speculations about Jalal "promoting" Jodha to the Malika rank.
Well, this child marriage track is plain stupid. Even if I had not been ill, I would not have known what to say about an emperor who seems to have lost whatever brains he had, has let Adham Khan run rings round him. He is now preparing to divorce his first wife to comply with his own law, which any idiot could have told him could not be made retroactive, as it would then disrupt tens of thousands of families.
I agree with you completely about this moronic Jalal. But for Rajat, Jalal would have been buried in the debris of this last week!

hello aunty. its really gud to see u back. honestly now-a-days im not much bothered about the tracks, i just watch just bcoz of rajat. i had always said tht rajat's talent is not fully used & CVs should bring up sum action scenes which r rajat's USP. from last 2 weeks i felt he didnt had many dialogues or imp. in the track. he had been turned into a typical ekta kapoor hero. they cant show shahenshah akbar as a weak & dumb king. its gud tht the heroine is emerging as a strong character, but showing jalal weak is not needed. i dont mind jodha's influence on jalal, but showing jalal dumb about evrything is bit too much. its only due to rajat's awsum acting & charm, even dumb jalal becomes tolerable.
