I quite agree with you about
@red, especially as regards any negative comment about religion, which is totally to be avoided. As regards any comments on the Rajputs, or the Rajvanshis, as they are safely called in the serial these days, that needs to be qualified.
For example, it is repeatedly asserted in Jodha Akbar that Rajvanshis do not do this or do not do that - do not lie, or cheat, or betray one another and so on. These are blanket character certificates self-assigned to a whole group, and that clearly in the historical context. Any academic would question such assertions in a book, and that cannot be called defamation, would you not agree?
Every community or group has black sheep, be it the Rajvanshis or the Mughals. That Raja Jaichand invited Mohammed Ghori to come back to India is 1192 and attack his son in law Prithviraj Chauhan is a historical fact. But on the other hand, neither can this example be used to tarnish the Rajputs, who were overwhelmingly brave to a suicidal degree, with a very fine sense of honour and loyalty to match.
Then again,that they were often disunited is also a historical fact, and this is bemoaned repeatedly both in the much more historically faithful Maharana Pratap serial, and in Jodha Akbar. This is again an objective assessment made by eminent historians, and this cannot be seen as motivated or blanket criticism.
Within these parameters, I would agree with your points in this post. I would only add that while you are concerned about the misrepresentation of the Rajvanshis/Rajputs, there are forum members who are equally if not more concerned about what they see as misrepresentations of the Mughals.

But any statement against a religion or community can make a very healthy discussion on the forum go in the wrong direction. I recall reading a post where the writer made a comment on the Rajput community during one of his/ her anti Jodha rants. This comment was really not needed in that otherwise beautifully written post. So let us not get too carried away and try and stay respectful towards everyone who may be reading these posts. Thanks!
