I think its both.. Plus, idol worship is strictly forbidden in Islam. Blasphemy is punishable by death. By going to the temple, Jalal is taking a HUGE risk.

he didn't said anything, coz that time he knew he was at fault. he remembers his soldiers telling him abt loot and same time Jodha coming there. and that's the first time he had heard abt Jodha. and he was so engrossed in her that he didn't pay any attention abt the loot his soldiers were telling him. so he knows , as a king responsibility of it is on him, and so he stayed quiet, coz one word of defense would have angered her more , and he knows now he better acts abt it than defend in just words

I guess Jalal is a lot more sensitive than other people. He felt that his people were his responsibility as you mention. It was important to note that when talking to Atgah Khan, or whatever the hell his name is, he did not say anything about the war itself, for he knew that it couldn't have been stopped, but he talked about how one bad move of his people can ruin the image he was trying to create.

The war had to happen. Jodha is plain stupid if she thinks that wars will not involve bloodshed, as if her so-called Rajvanshis don't create wars. I think her grievances were more about the death of Suryabhan than anything else. However, Jalal did not worry about the war itself but the way his people were trying to waste his efforts. This may lead him to Adham.

u r using the right name. it's Shamshuddin Atgah Khan
