Recap: when she didn't find any escapade...

she painfully closed her eyes and desperately moved her face sideways...

just as she felt Jalal's lips approaching hers...

PART 2

...As the khema had been put at short notice...the supporting poles were

not so firm at their base...it could not stand their struggle and gave

away...As Jodha stood against it...she felt it and before it could come

crashing down on Jalal's head...she pulled him aside with a swift

motion...hurting her own forehead in the process...they both lost

balance and fell down...Jalal below...and Jodha on him...

...Jodha hurried to get up but could not...instead she fell back on top

of him...unintentionally planting a kiss on his neck...

...the sudden fall had made Jodha's necklace to entangle with Jalal's

ornamental haars(necklace)...She nervously tried and set it free...

then got up hurriedly...unsure about the next minute's happenings...

...Jalal got up...he saw the wound on Jodha's forehead and realised

she had saved him despite his present undecent behaviour...and her

hatred towards him...

Jalal - (claps...few female servants of Jodha come...he says while looking

at Jodha...) apni rani ke zakhmon par marham laga dijiyega...

(while few servants tend to Jodha's wounds...some others are sent by

Jalal to put the khema erect again...)

Next morning...

Jodha gets up early and in order to get some fresh morning air to uplift her

spirits...she moves out of her khema...

Most of the people are still asleep...As she takes a stroll around the place

with few of her daasis...thinking about what her fate now had in store...

she heard the screams of a child shouting for help...

...as she followed the sound...she noticed that it was coming from a lake

nearby where a child was drowning...without second thought she ran

toeards the lake and jumped in to save the child...

...Mahamanga who had woken up by that time...didn't like Jodha's act of

jumping into the river...it being inappropriate for a royal queen...putting

Jalal's shaan at stake...

...by this time...Jodha had come out of water...she had saved the child

whose family had now gathered there and were thanking Jodha...

Mahamanga got infuriated on seeing Jodha all drenched and immediately

headed to approach Jalal to complain about Jodha's inappropriate public

appearance...

INSIDE JALAL'S CHAMBER...

Jalal had just woken up...a servant comes in..

Servant - Shahenshah salamat rahe!! Wazirealliyah Mahanmanga ji

aapse isi waqt milna chahti hain...

Jalal - izazat hai...

(Mahamanga enters...)

Jalal- Badi ammi...aap itni subah...?

Mahamanga - Jalal hume aapse akele me kuch zaruri baat karni hai..

.abhi isi waqt...

Jalal - Takliyaah.. (Every one leaves...) Kahiye...Badi ammi..aisi konsi

baat hai??

Maham - Jalal...Hum aapse Jodha begum ke baare me baat karne aaye

hain...

Jalal abhi humne unko jis haalat me dekha wo bilkul sahi nahi tha...

Ek begum hone ke naate unko yahan ke niyam kayade aur yahan ki

maryada ka dhyan rakhna chahiye...jo unhe bilkul khayal nahi hai...

yun is tarah...sevak aur bandiyon ki nazar me be-pardah aane ka kya matlab?? aur abhi jis haalat me humne unko dekha..

.usse to saaf zahir hota hai...ki unhe apki shaan aur izzat ka zara bhi

khayal nahin hai...wo poori tarah pani me bheegi hui thi Jalal...Aapko

unhe samjhana hoga...nahin to wo galti par galti karti jaengi...aur unki

himmat ko aur badhava milega...

Jalal - (Claps..and a servant arrives...) (In an angry tone...)Jodha begum

ko

abhi hamare samne pesh kiya jaye...ye hamara hukum hai...jayiye abhi...

isi waqt...(he shouts...)

After some time...Jodha arrives there...walking slowly and in a

hesitating manner with her eyes down due to her present drenched

state...

(When the servant had informed her about Jalal being verry angry and

that he had sent for her immediately...in her agony she forgot to even

cover herself in some dupatta which could hide her drenched self and

straightaway came to where Jalal was...) It was now that she realised

her awkward state and was very embarassed to face Jalal...

(on seeing Jalal in anger...she is doubtful as to what might come next...)

Jodha - (gathering some courage...) Aapne hume yahan bulaya ?

Jalal - (gets more angry seeing her in this condition...and shouts..) Aap is

haalat me bahar kya kar rahi thi?? Aapko yahan ke tehzeeb aur kayide

pehle hi samjhaye ja chuke hain...ki mughal sultanat ki kisi bhi begum

ko yun bepardah ghumne firne ki izazat nahi hai...aur aap yun..is haalat

me...!Sharm aani chahiye aapko khud par...

Jodha - Humne aisa jaan bhujkar nahi kiya...hum to bas wahan se ja

rahe the aur...

(Jalal interrupts...)

Jalal - (angrily...) Begum Jodha ...hume ye jaanne me koi dilchaspi nahi

hai...

ki aap wahan kya karne gayi thi...hume bas itna maalum hai...ki aap jis

haalat me wahan tamam sevako ke samne thi...aapko nahin hona

chahiye tha...hum jante hain ki aap humse beinteha nafrat karti hain par

iska ye matlab nahi ki aapke jo jee me aaye wo karein aur hamare banaye

niyamo ki nafarmani karein...hamari begum hone ke naate aapne

hamari bhi tauheen ki hai...ye pehli baar hai is liye hum aapko hidayat

dete hain ki yahan rehker aapko yahan ke sabhi niyam kaydo ko

maanna hoga...aur apni maryada me rehna seekhna hoga...warna aapke

liye achcha nahi hoga...samjhi aap...

Jodha gets irritated because of Jalal refusing to listen to her point...)

Jodha - (in an irritated tone...)Aap hamari puri baat sunne se pehle hi jab

ye

faisla kar chuke hain ki galti hamari thi...to thik hai...hame jo dand

dena hai de dijiye...

Maham - Jalal, hame ek baar Jodha begum ki baat sun leni chahiye...

(Jalal still unsure...looks on...giving silent approval for Jodha to keep

her point...)

Maham - Kahiye Jodha begum...kya batana chahti hain aap...?

(Jodha narrates the entire incident...Jalal is shocked to hear the fact and

feels ashamed at his mistake of not giving her a chance to speak earlier...

Mahamanga too feels ashamed and apologizes to Jodha...saying it was all

her fault...all because of a misunderstanding of the entire situation...

Jodha simply nods granting forgiveness to Maham...)

Maham - Hume maaf kijeyega Jalal...hum hi ne puri baat galat samajh li...

Jalal - hmm..(he just could not say another word...)

Maham - ab hame izazat dijiye Jalal...

(Mahamanga leaves the chamber...leaving Jalal and Jodha alone...)

(Jalal looks at Jodha with a puppy face thinking how to rectify his mistake...

Jodha feels uncomfortable under his gaze...The mere fact of being alone

with Jalal...makes her restless...)

Jalal - Jodha Begum, hum...

Jodha - (without letting him complete...says in a hurried tone...) Hume

jaana hai

yahan se...abhi...

Jodha turned to leave but her leg slipped on the little pool of water

formed by the water dripping from her own drenched form...)

Jalal stepped forward quickly and catched her by the waist while one hand

holding her hand in support...he held her close and firm...they had an

eyelock...

...Jalal's touch scorched her skin...water drops adding fuel to that

sensation...his proximity was too much for Jodha to handle...

...As Jodha broke the trance...she tried to free herself from his grip...

Jalal was lost in her...her sudden movement brought him back to his

senses...and he made her stand...still holding her hand to make sure

she didn't lose balance this time...

Jodha - Hamara hath chhodiye shahenshah...

Jalal loosened his hold on her hand...as she was about to leave...Jalal

called out...

Jalal - Rukiye Jodha Begum...

Jodha - (without looking back) Ab kya shesh...

(before she could complete...Jalal offered her the shawl he wore...)

Jalal - bahar jane se pehle Isey pehen lijey...

Jodha - (in her mind... pehle chillayenge fir khud hi hamdardi dikhayenge..

.akhir saabit kya karna chahte hain ye...) (with irritated tone... )Iski koi

avashyakta nahi hai...

Jalal - Zarurat hai...

(...still seeing no movement from her side...he himself steps forward

and drapes the shawl around her shoulders...looking in another

direction and carefully keeping off his hands from touching her...lest she

complains...)

...without another word...Jalal leaves from there...
