Hi,

I noticed that the Surma was absent on Rajat's Eyes, but that made him look more naughty to me rather than younger ... and more human than a cruel person...😃

I agree with more human than cruel part 😊

No, Suchi, I am afraid I have not explained what I mean properly. Let me try again.

Jodha hated Jalal long before he had done anything to Amer, and she wanted his head on a platter, largely, as Moti pointed out once, on the basis of rumours about him.

Bharmal lost the battle for Amer, and Jalal could have taken it over completely or destroyed it. He does neither. Sharifuddin squeezes Bharmal independently of Jalal. It is Bharmal who agrees to Chugtai Khan's proposal and offers Jalal Jodha's hand in marriage in order to save Amer.

So Jodha cannot blame Jalal for her father's trying to reverse the fortunes of war.. Before and during the marriage, he accepts every one of her conditions. Even if he had not, the marriage would have gone thru, for Bharmal had no choice. In 16th century Rajasthan, Jodha would not have been asked anything. She would have been ordered to marry Jalal, no questions asked and no objections entertained. So they cut her a lot of slack already.

Till this point, there in no harm that Jalal has done Jodha. He need not have married her at all. He could have invaded and occupied Amer and carried her off to be his concubine. So she can hardly blame him for something her father arranged for his own interests. But she does that all the time, to avoid acknowledging that her family, in effect, sold her to Jalal to save their own skins.

After the marriage, Jalal does not claim his conjugal rights by force, as many other men in his place would have done. Whatever convoluted reasons he might give for that, the fact remains that he leaves her alone and does not use force against her.

She seems to think that Amer can be saved without any quid pro quo from her side. It is a bargain made by her father with her consent, but she does not keep her end of the bargain. .Instead, she keeps on ranting about how much she hates her husband.

He, for his part, is polite and respectful towards her visiting parents, and also good to her brothers and to Mansingh. He is very appreciative of her goodwill towards his unborn child. Till then again, he has not hurt her in any way, and even in the matter of the mirchiwala khana, he does not complain to her parents.

The only really bad thing he does to her is the way he torments her during the dature ka ark affair. That is sadistic, and it is directly linked to his sense of being betrayed by a woman he had, insensibly, come to like and respect. But when he finds out that he is wrong, he does apologise publicly to her and to her brothers. And offers to set her free from being shackled to a man she hates.

No emperor would do more than that, and very few would do as much.

He offers her a home with due honour when her mother refuses to let her come back to Amer.He saves her from committing suicide. He is incredibly patient and polite even when she is publicly and unbelievably rude to the Shahenshah at the Meena Bazaar. He puts up with all her ill mannered and stupid behaviour at the night stop on the way to Ajmer. He does not utter a word of reproach when she barely misses getting him killed in the forest. Now he has found her sister a good Rajput husband.

What more does she want? She has not even apologised for the narnaal fiasco, she has thanked him for the Sukanya matter with ungracious reluctance, she does not even ask him how he is after he nearly died thanks to her folly.

The fact is that she is a taker, and she takes and takes and thinks she does not owe him anything in return. But that is not what bothers me about her; that is a matter for Jalal to put up with or not as he chooses.

What bothers me is not even that she is not, as you put it."conditioned to shut up and not raise their voice no matter how reasonable or unreasonable it might be... " It is rather that she is completely lacking in both dignity and good breeding when it comes to her husband. One can be aloof and cool and remote and still be well behaved. That is something one owes to oneself and one's upbringing.

I cannot admire a princess who behaves as she does. If her husband had really been a brute, she would have been crushed into submission in a week. He gives her far more liberty than many women are given even today, and she carries on like a peevish prima donna, which I find very unattractive. I have no indulgence for her, and I think she deserves a sound spanking with a tough slipper or worse.

I get your point and its quite fair. I am not questioning that.
The fact remains, this show has nothing real thats going on. Every episode has huge flaws when we look at it from the historical perspective and from the common norm aspect of then times.

This Jodha is not the 16th century lady NO WAY!
I do not think Cvs are trying to portray her that way. They have taken the liberty in that matter. A LOT.

But I do not think Jodha is being un fair. If we look it from her perspective and take out the fact that usually women at that time are conditioned to shut up and not raise their voice no matter how reasonable or unreasonable it might be... I agree with the way she talked to Jalal.

He has done a LOT of harm to her and just cause he is being nice ,its not easy to forget what he had done. It will take time and she has a lot of reasons to not trust him.

The only thing thats lacking in their relationship right now is trust and once that comes up, she will be fine.

Yes, Suchi, but surely a modicum of intelligence would not come in amiss? And a tad less of juvenile peevishness?

Jodha is now exactly like Asha Parekh in the 1965 Teesri Manzil. When she gets up suddenly, if there had been any justice in the world of soaps, she should have fallen into the water. Earlier, when he asks pleasantly whether she likes boat rides, what is it with her reply? It is insolent and ungracious, and for that one moment, his smile fades.

None of Maharana Udai Singh's ranis would have ever dared say any such thing to him, and that is why Maharana Pratap is much more realistic than this puerile concoction.

There is a lot of space between a goody two shoes, and this self-righteous,impertinent, humourless, ill-mannered young woman, and this should not be forgotten. It does not have to be one or the other.

This Jodha, Suchi, is not my idea of any kind of princess, and if it goes on, as it will, neither will it be yours by the end of the week.At least, so I would hope!

I am delighted that you are on the same page as I am on this episode, my dear.

The younger bit was probably because Jodha sat there with a puffed up face as if she had suffered from a bee attack, and her nakhras did not make her look any better. Rajat is a very handsome boy in any dress, and he actually looked even better in the very simple costume in which he sneaks into Amer than in all his imperial regalia. Plus he is a very supple and nuanced actor.

Paridhi looks very pretty in all these heavy chakmak outfits and jewellery, but before Jodha's marriage, she used to look like an upmarket version of one of her pretty daasis. Now of course her daasis are all very ungoodlooking. Plus they have made her Jodha so stupid and rigid and illmannered that Paridhi must be feeling very cramped, poor girl.

I agree completely with you about the hand injury being repeated. As I had predicted, even Jalal's mischievous sallies will soon suffer from over use; it is now the nth time that he is teasing Jodha calling her a baaghin. And being a completely humourless girl, she will not be able to think up a single smart retort. Or better still, laugh it off.I have by now grown tired for writing snappy lines for her!😉

I am sure 99% of the forum is swooning over the precap, but to my mind, Rajat looks out of condition and almost chubby, like a achche khaate peete ghar ka ladka. He needs far more muscle definition before he is made to expose so much, at least a 4 pack if not a 6 0r an 8 (my son religiously maintains his six pack). Plus, I could not understand the need for him to take off his tunic for the lep to be applied to the back of his neck!😉

Aunty 🤣 !!!!!!!!

He surely will! I am certain 😆

Thank you for the wonderful analysis. I can see you having a very difficult time with their 'romance' in future and please feel my tight hug! 🤗

Atgah Sahab is not a good minister..sorry to say. Where were the sainiks during arrow showers? A tukdi was supposed to go with the Shahenshah, right? Did the tukdi take out time to go off boating in another lake too... ?

Yes, a cut here and there and everywhere, in hopes of Jodha touching Jalal or vice versa, is again one of the few tricks out of Ekta's old bag. This will be repeated many times over I guess. I am not against romance or such light-hearted rosy scenes but repetition will bore me to death and that shouldn't happen to any viewer!
At least give a reason how he got hurt in the first place..? Oh nevermind, that would have eaten more reel time.

All in all, it was a fine episode with epic historical distortions.

Love you aunty and thank you so much for being here 😊🤗

P.S. Don't know if you noticed in the boatride scene, Rajat looked quite younger than Paridhi, which he actually is, without the kajal. That looked a bit odd to me. 🤔

As long as that woman has her pockets full n TRPs high she doesnt care about her serials.

Ok that would be soppy n too melodramatic but it wud make sense!!

AGain can't like your post!

Anyways - your post - Super like!!! 😃

I have not watched the episodes since last tuesday. Actually I am gradually losing interest in this typical EK serial. Rajat has been the only reason I started watching and now even his good looks and charm cannot keep me hooked to this melodrama

It would have been much better if EK could have made these characters and setting completely fictional. It's okay to see all kinds of melodrama as part of the harem politics. But when they are dealing with Akbar's friends and foes and his relationship with Rajputana and MP, it's just painful to see such ridiculous fictitious incidents which basically deviate completely from the history.😡

The Bheel tribesmen helped MP in his guerrilla warfare against Akbar's empire. When did they try to assassin Akbar himself? When did Akbar imprisoned his brother in laws? Will they ever show Akbar marrying plethora of other women?😕

Anyways - enough of my rant. I miss the episodes, but never miss reading your posts. Actually this forum is much more interesting than the serial itself.😉

P.S. It's my first post after Durgapuja. Subho Bijoya! :) I think you know what it means.

It's sad that Jalal doesn't have new lines. CVs need to pull up their socks and be more innovative. Khaate peeta ladka is correct! Rajat needs to tone his body a lot! like A LOT!

Don't be sad, Sumu.Tonight, for the first time, I saw a glimpse of a real, sincere relationship emerging between Jalal and Jodha, at least from his side. Whether she reciprocates, or knows how to do so remains to be seen. I might post on this episode tomorrow and will PM you if I do.

My dear,

Yes, of course I understand Subho Bijoya!, and now I would like to wish you a happy Deepavali well in advance!

You are a very misleading young lady, and your first 2 lines today had me diddled. Never mind.

Tonight, for the first time in a while, I seemed to glimpse the emergence of a real relationship between Jalal and Jodha, free of the wisecracking on his side, laced with intermittent and involuntary bitterness, and alternate sulking and flaring up on hers. Let us see. I might be doing something about it tomorrow, and of course I will PM you.

No dear, the tribesmen were not fighting for Maharana Pratap, but had been hired by Adham.
