Very nice post.

Your points are all well made. It would have taken only a scene with Jalaal and Jodha together after the tiger attack where some concern was shown by Jodha and then a recurrence of conflict to make this a bit more logical. I enjoyed the boat ride but more as an isolated scene in and of itself. The performances by the actors make the scene even though there is absolutely no logic. Rajat has done such a wonderful job as Jalaal that he seems to live the character. Jodha's unreasonable petulance can only be excused as a defence mechanism as she feels herself drawn to Jalaal. All the other things such as the unescorted boat ride in unfriendly territory and the shower of arrows, none hitting their mark made no sense. It was just the haste to get to some romance and create the setting. It could have been done better.

Thank you, my dear. I am profoundly relieved to have so much of company in my jaundiced state of health! I had feared that everyone would be busy lapping up the treacle!

My dear Sonia,

To think that I was concerned about being in a minority of one, or nearly so, on this one! Thank you!🤗

And those lovely lines are spot on.

Wrt Jodha, I do not cut her so much slack. Her breeding should have been enough to give her a cool dignity even in hostility, and kept her from indulging in peevish sulkiness and even overt rudeness. And in those days with a husband who is also an emperor??

Great post with an apt title...A jaundiced view 👏

All your points are valid and logical.

I have learned to enjoy every episode in the spirit it is shown in
Starting with MP, the actor is just not at par with the persona of Pratap but what to do 😭
I enjoyed the initiatives taken by the royal women, both Rajput and Mughal, to mend relationships and alliances despite political strife.
And as for the full-moon boat ride, these words come to mind...
" True love comes around once and you have to hold out until then ~ I have been waiting, I have been searching, I am a man under the moon~~"

I would think that Jodha's behavior is just a defense against Jalal's desire...she doesn't have the experience to deal with a man like Jalal 😉

Lashy, this is why I love you so. I would do that even if you were wallowing in treacle about the boat scene, but now, as Chairman Mao said of his successor Hua Guo Feng, with you around, my mind is at peace! You can single handedly stave off a diabetes epidemic!😉

🤗

Single handedly stave off a diabetes epidemic...you place a lot of trust in me, aunty...😆

But as Alakh said, one likes what one likes, I guess...
I recall that during two beautiful episodes - the rescue after the tiger attack and the Dargah scenes (especially the former) I'd read many-a-post that were accusing the CVs and expressing their discontent with lack of romance...
I remember having felt very disheartened that fellow-members couldn't see the beauty in the episodes directed. I even replied in many posts to try and bring out the beauty in them...

I'm guessing that our rebuttal of the cheesily-directed romance now would be pretty much akin to that🤔 - Hmmm...those who loved the episode yesterday must be quite disheartened by our comments, right? I could sense it in a few replies in my thread - not their fault though, bless them!😳

I've realized that -as far as my topics go- its better to analyse when the episode is positive and the Akdha scenes a treat to watch😆 -
or I shall refrain ...I cannot gush over something that doesn't touch my heart and at that same time I don't want to play the role of a wet blanket when an entire group of forum-ites - most of them my very very dear friends - are rejoicing about something so genuinely...😊

Yes, Ela, he is magnificent looking, the perfect Maharana. Even Rajat pales in comparison in terms of feature by feature, but then he is such a very nuanced and fascinating actor, plus being very handsome in a different way. In fact, when he is in one of those pagdis that expose more of his forehead, Rajat also looks the perfect Rajput. Which is why this Pratap puts me off, and the so-called Rajvanshi plotters looked like apprentice goons!

No, I never went to the Maharana Pratap forum I cannot manage even one at a time, Ela, look where I am now again! It is not possible to do omnibus responses, and it seems rude not to reply at all, so my only salvation would seem to be to post only 2 times a week!

I never watched Balika Vadhu, and of course I know Anu(Skepblun) very well, she was one of my favourite girls there, along with Nikki, Ammu and others. I wrote 2 pieces for their Farewell to Jalandhar thread just to please them; the preface and an article.

Yes, Shraddha dear, but one also needs to be like the traditional medicines my grandmother used to dose us with after the excess of Deepavali sweets, an antidote for the overdose of treacle flooding the forum. And when you have loyal readers aplenty, they have to be shown the other point of view as well. If you are reluctant to do that, you might as well do what I was planning to do, leave for good and at least save some time, not stick around only to sing hosannas to the lead pair!

Besides, what will be different then between your analysis or mine, and say Vicki's, if you and I were also to focus only on the positive angles? She writes lovely, deeply emotional stuff under any and all circumstances, which is admirable, but it is not my style.

Moreover, I am not here only for Jalal and Jodha; if that was so, I would have quit weeks ago after seeing this Jodha in action!

As it is, if Vicki is like Shahrukh Khan, I would like to think that I am like Aamir Khan, not to everyone's taste at all times, but the thinking man's actor. I am still trying to figure out whom you are like, probably Randhir Kapoor, who straddles the divide between Shahrukh and Aamir!

Vicki, if you ever happen to read this, the comparison to Shahrukh is of course a huge compliment, not that it needed to be spelt out!

I guess Ekata Kapoor is right now just rejoicing in the high TRPs. Firstly the show was lagging behind. Then when things started sizzling up the TRPs shot up. It is because of Rajat and Paridhi, who are doing a commendable work.
All the excellently shot scenes and the dialogues have now started going outside the window. I guess Ekta Kapoor is mostly hurrying to start the romance track which will obviously garner a lot of views. I hope and pray that she does not do so. Because then all the hard work that brought the show to the position it is now on, will go waste.
Viewers want romance but they also want some sense in it. I hope she realises it before time.
And I really want Jodha to stop being so rude to Jalal.

P.S excellent post 👍🏼

Aunty I genuinely hope you meant Ranbir Kapoor and not Randhir Kapoor...unintentionally (if that's what it was) you've made me literally fall of my chair laughing...

You're right...I'm neither here nor there...I want Romance and action and war and politics and romance...🤣 not many-a-person who can keep up with my tastes!
P.S. but I do like singing hosannas to the lead pair too...as long as the lead pair were doing things that made somewhat sense...😒 I want to gush over them..but notty notty Jodha and amnesiac Jalal not giving me a chance to do so..

Oh! How I wish I was as optimistic as Vicky...it'd be so much easier to sit back and enjoy the joy-ride and then get off when you feel its enough I'm a bit of a silly emotional fool...(glimpses of which you must have observed when you threatened to leave us)
