well i know jodha has evry right to be rude & angry on jalal. & im not asking her to talk to jalal politely. but at least she could have talked properly. when jalal asked him about her "khema" she should have answered firmly, but properly. i dont expect her to be nice, but saying 'its none of ur business" was indeed bit too much, bcoz jalal is the shahenshah so obviously its his business. but i loved the scene bcoz the way jalal handled the whole situation was fab. he didnt gave a damn to her & it didnt even effected him.😆 so ultimately as i say "jodha ka popat ho gaya". jalal ruled tht scene bcoz he was not wrong tht time. i am saying again & again jalal did wrong & deserves to be told off, but it could have done properly as well. & 2ndly, sum people might say tht its not a big deal tht jalal said sorry, but its jalal's gudness tht he said srry, bcoz noone can force him to say sorry. wht can jodha do if he dont say srry??? jodha is brave but not powerful enough to resist jalal. if jalal wants he still can destroy amer or kill her brothers & noone can stop. i dont support jalal for his deeds but my only point is he is changing & he is realizing his mistakes.
P.S.:- she is using his money to fulfill her day to day needs especially for 'krishna puja'. if jalal wants he can stop tht as well. so if jalal wants to be bad, he can actually be worst. so at least sum proper, if not polite, behavior is expected from her.

Amazing analysis as usual,
I m fine with her ghrina as long as its within the 4 walls, its justified, she is totally broken after the MC fisco. Nothing seems to be impressing her and hence Jalal has to do something exceptional to win her heart.
Bt i do agree publicly being rude is not done, it does nt do well with her character and specially after the talk she gave to the men who were talking bad abt Sheehensha.

I agree with most parts of your post especillay about Jodha. But, I differ on your take of Jalal buying all colors of stall. Comments are in red.

Originally posted by: sashashyam

Folks,

When he bought all the colour powders in her stall, after she had, with gratuitous offensiveness, told her maids to give him as much of them as he wanted, it was not because he wanted to convey that he alone has the right to all the rang in her life.

It was far more likely because he knew that no one else was going to buy any of the stuff, which would be of no use to any of the other women there, and he did not want her to stand there at the end of the Meena Bazaar, looking foolish with all her stocks untouched.- I don't think that he bought all colors so she won't look foolish. It was because she had "with gratuitous offensiveness, told her maids to give him as much of them as he wanted". Then, he said "I did not come here to get anything but to buy something and it's a rule that where I stop I buy something from there". It was more like tit-for -tat answer. She said give whatever he wants (assuming without charging anything-as in donation) and he said he came to buy and not get charity and therefore he bought all.

Two, that there is a distinction to be drawn between public behaviour and private behaviour. Good behaviour. especially in public, is something one owes to oneself and to one's upbringing, 👏👏👍🏼it need have nothing to do with the way others have behaved or behave with you. I thus have nothing against Jodha ranting at Jalal in private. But in public it is an entirely different matter, and that is what distinguishes a lady, and more so a princess or a queen, from the common run of ill-bred humanity. 👏

In the meanwhile, I am fast tiring of all this unending prodding and poking of the tea leaves or chicken entrails that we seem obliged to do, to try and guess where the putative Jalal-Jodha love affair is headed, while all we get onscreen these days is an endless series of tiresome squabbles and exercises in one-upmanship, interspersed with bouts of rona dhona and acid-tipped exchanges. - Although I love this couple immensely, I am getting little tired of this endless stupid arguments too especially the way Jodha behaved yesterday. Before that I did not blame her much the way she acted because she was hurt immensely but Jalal apolozied publicly and privately and is trying to make it up to her and I am not saying he should be forgiven easily and she can taunt him once in a while but does not have to be rude at least in public places.

Question of the day: How did Mahaam Anga get to know of Jodha's going back to Amer? Jalal reveals it to Ruqaiya by mistake, but they are alone then, and there is no reason why she should tell Mahaam. Maybe Jalal told her or someone told her by eavesdropping on their conversaton especially when they do not have doors.

Star of the day: Salima Begum, for her gentle grace and her quiet dignity. The way in which she offers her shauhar, though he is one only in name, his favourite ittar, and explains why she looks out for his likes, was as charming as it was genuine. No wonder Jalal looked touched and happy. Jodha has a lot to learn from Salima, not to speak of Hamida Begum, about how to develop and maintain relationships, no matter how difficult they might be at the beginning. No meal can be created only of Amer ki mirchi.-I agree.

Fantastic write up Shyamala...
You see public display of bad behavour was started by Jalal himself immidiately after marriage when he asked her to sing publicly twice...
Again kit was Jalal who wanted to burn Jodha and brothers in front of public eyes not in private...
Again it was Jalal who wanted Jodha's defeated in Shatranj in public...Infact both Jalal and Ruku were laughing how they wanted match in full darbar and how they will humilate her...
Any modern husband with absolute power will not dare to treat his wife like Jalal treats Jodha...or he will languish in Jail...Clinton said sorry to Hilary and his nation publicly.
Again Jalal giving permission to Jodha to celebrate holi is laughable...Didn't he promise that before marriage that she had full freedom to celbrate and do puja...
Again Jalal saying sorry is admirable but it wont lessen the pain of those days when she was held captive...It will lie in her subconscious and will go with time...

Fantastic view point.
However Ive always felt the saying "forgive and forget" is easier said than done when you are a victim.
Lets not forget the pain Jalal inflicted on her in public during the datura incident.
That said, should Jodha now repeat the same? No. Where did her morals and manners go?
She does act like a Tantrum queen .No denying that...
But Its not that easy for her. Even if she tries to forget the Datura incident, Her ego is dented hugely with his suggestion that she returns to Amer.
They both definitely bring out the worst in each other.

Anycase it seems like a see-saw ride for the duo... From the look at the posts made now, it looks like its Jalal's turn now...

I am tired as well - reading and writing about the brat Jodha. I wish Ekta does not ruin the female character that we all came to admire after the movie. Next week is suicide drama, god give me patience! I might be with you to say bye bye as well if Jodha's characterization does not change soon..

Yes, of course, Ela, and I myself have noted that what he did during the dature ka ark affair was far worse. But if she is going to behave as badly as he did, there is no difference between them.

I also wrote very clearly that it was not about her being nasty to Jalal - It is about her demeaning herself. I set great store by grace in public, and the Rajput queens were celebrated for being like that; Just watch Maharani Jaiwantibai of Mewar in Maharana Pratap' she was the same from the time she got married as a teenager. Jodha has always been like a loose cannon, with no sense, and no sense of responsibility either,as when she burnt the wedding dress.

I did not at all like the way Jodha behaved yesterday, trying to talk down to him and humiliate him, and I did not at all like the way she behaved today, like a bheegi billi, apologising to all and sundry and scared stiff. I expected her to be calm and state her position that it was just an accident, but even before anyone says anything to her, she looks terrified.

Any husband with absolute power, Ela, cannot, by definition, be jailed, for there would be no power above him to do that. I used that term very deliberately. There are very few such left, except perhaps the Saudi princes or Latin American dictators, and I cannot imagine one such apologising to his wife, no matter what he had done to her.

The interesting and relevant point is that her brothers really feel no rancour towards Jalal. She does, and so she should just go home to Amer and be done with this life in Agra. She cannot expect anything more from Jalal, he is not going to parade in sackcloth and ashes to please her. That is the way it is, and she has to work within that framework.

Today, he made it clear that, in line with what I have written here and contrary to interpretations elsewhere, he had no intention of trying to retain her in Agra. When he said aakhri kwahish,it meant just that. She does touch him somewhere, but he is not a lovelorn Majnu to sigh after her; he is an emperor.

Freedom to practice her religion did not mean celebrating all her festivals in public in the Agra palace. It meant doing puja in the privacy of her rooms.. You have to remember that this was a major concession by the emperor, and the mullahs must have criticised it vocally. So yes, she needed his permission for that, and Hamida Banu too does not say, contrary to what she said about Jodha's temple visits, that his permission is not required.

Once Jodha brought her celebrations out into the open, clashes and complaints were bound to surface, and of course it all blew up with her colliding with Mahaam Anga. I was surprised to see Jodha immediately fold up like a pack of cards. I would have expected her to stand up for herself somewhat more.
