Dear Meghana,

Thank you so much.

I feel that if someone takes the trouble to comment on my post, I owe it to them to respond to their comments. The only limiting factor is time, for I seem to have been doing daily posts for weeks now, and at times I just cannot cover one lot before I am overtaken by those for the next post!

So if I miss you out sometimes, do bear with me!

Thank you, Daisy. I particularly wanted people to read it for the emphasis on the Rahim-Jalal scene, which I was sure would be sidelined elsewhere, as indeed it was, with the focus being on the hammy Mahaam, and for what it tells us about Jalal.

Well, my dear, you were the only person to have noted that, and it is as signifcant as the shubchintak bit 2 episodes back. I heard it, but I did not give it the importance it deserved, and I was glad that you flagged it.

Do you really think this datura business will drag on for another week? This apart, I cannot imagine how they can expect us to swallow a Mahaam II, kept all this while undiscovered even by Resham but where? Behind that tinny white door? It is all overwrought, totally cuckoo, and worst of all, not at all entertaining.

But how can that SBS segment be still to come, Lashy? It says that the Shahenshah is yet to learn the truth and what Mahaam says on camera relates only to her faux pas in the toshakhana, which is all long passee.

Needless to say your write-up was brilliant...keep it coming aunty...we need your posts to keep our spirits lifted - seeing how (I fear that) the MC track might extend out to the most part of next week too...😭
As for the SBS segment - from what I've seen of them (in this serial and others) they're generally not wrong - there might be exaggerations, but its still a glimpse of what's to come...
As for making no sense, this entire dibbi track has ceased to make sense - so, as you mentioned - I'm not going to break my head over it any more!😭

Thank you so much, Diksha, for liking the post, and Munni, for making things much easier for me!

You see, Diksha, I had already anticipated what you were going to say, and I had tried to answer your objection in advance in the post itself. Do take another look at that part, and maybe you will cut me some more slack!😉. That apart, baubles has put it very well above when she says:

It does'nt require an emotional connect to a person to understand his/her pain and knowing what importance Mahamanga has in Jalal's life i would have liked her to atleast think about it.

Munni has of course expanded on the same point in her exchanges here, and between then, they have left me nothing to add. Thank you, Munni dear.

When one has both intelligence and imagination, one can understand persons, and the situations they might have faced, and which shaped them, without necessarily having experienced the latter. It is like an actor who can play a death scene though he has never died before. Jodha is intelligent, but she has no imagination, and so though she will, in time, grow to understand and care for Jalal, it will not be because she can look at things from his point of view.

As for Ratan Singh, Jodha is plain stupid where that is concerned. His being a bandit at one remove is a FACT, and has nothing to do with Jodha hating Jalal. Any reasonably logical mind should see this, and realise that Jalal has, without meaning to do so, done her family a major favour in getting rid of him. Instead, we are treated time and again to her pigheaded repetition that Jalal ruined Sukanya' happiness, which makes me want to shake her till her teeth rattle😉. I do wish Bharmal had dinned some sense into her head before he left Agra.

Thank you very much, my dear.

I am delighted that you loved the Rahim-Jalal scene.

@blue
is very neatly worded, and you will see that I have used it in my response above to Diksha and Munni.

Beautiful post once again...I loved the Jalal-Rahim scene a lot..I like Jodha usually(a lot on thursday),the only complaint being exactly what you have said..It does'nt require an emotional connect to a person to understand his/her pain and knowing what importance Mahamanga has in Jalal's life i would have liked her to atleast think about it.

Very nicely said. I agree with your comments about Jodha. I hope we will see some development in her character. I would like to see Jodha's understanding of Jalaal be a factor in the development of their relationship.

Thank you for such detailed and perceptive comments. I would agree with all of them except the first, which Munni has already clarified, and regarding which I have added some more info in a separate response above.

The father angle and Akbar's ability to relate differentially to individuals are both true, but this is not really what touched and delighted me about the Rahim-Jalal scene. Not all fathers, even in this 21st century, can relate to and really understand their children, and in the 16th century, that too among royalty, the kind of indulgence Jalal extends to Rahim would have been rare even among real fathers and their children.

Next , you have to take into account that Jalal is a young and very macho man, and he has no experience of children in his immediate family. Even otherwise, how many 22 year olds even today would be able to or would have the inclination to relate to a child? Very few.

What he is able to do with Rahim is very rare and impressive. To learn how to handle adults and get the best out of them is one thing. To love children in general is another. Jalal does that, but so does Jodha. To be able to coax a frightened child, and one who is frightened of yourself, into revealing what you want to know something quite different, and it is a remarkable feat.

The whole segment reveals more about Jalal than a lot of the past episodes put together. That is why I not only loved that scene at the emotional level, but I think it is very significant as far as our understanding of Jalal is concerned. So I wanted to highlight it so that it is not lost in the excessive focus on Mahaam's hammy villainy.

I was going to clarify that, Munni, thanks for doing it ahead of me!

Salima tells Jodha that when Jodha visits her in her chambers, do you remember now? That is when Jodha also finds out that Rahim is not Jalal's son, as she assumes initially. She also learns about the childhood friendship between Ruqaiya and Jalal, about Ruqaiya's inability to have a child, and about the parents of that little Hindu boy being released by Jalal.

Rahim's real mother was reportedly a Rajput, and perhaps his profound Krishna bhakti came from that connection. I have read many of Rahim's dohe at school, they always have Rahiman at the beginning of the second line. He was also later one of Akbar's generals, and led the campaign against Maharana Pratap of Mewar in 1580.

Shyamala B.Cowsik

Thanks for details. I have started watching JA only 2 weeks back and did not know all this. So is Rahim's mom dead? Did she die with Bairam Khan? So Salima is not his real mom, only step mom. But she is so nice to Rahim like an own mother.

awesome post .very good analisys.
⭐️

but i disagree with certain things u wrote about Jodha.😒
The contrast with Salima's face, that mirrors the gathering clouds of grief and despair on Jalal's as Rahim proceeds with his tale, is striking.
Salima is knows Jalal from childhood while Jodha has been recently married to Jalal. Her marriage to jalal is like a compromise. But i still feel in this short period of their relationship Jodha understands him.😳

To revert, Jodha also seems quite incapable of understanding what Bharmal explains so clearly to his family today, that Ratan Singh, who sponsored dacoits who preyed on the common people, was a totally undesirable husband for Sukanya. She never even thinks on those logical lines.

Jalal is quite diplomatic with his in laws while he shows his true colors to his poor wife😉before the war Jalal expalined to Jodha that he was doing war to take revenge against Amer.

@ paru I agree with ur points ...I would also like to add that Jodha had taken Rahim to Jalal's room and Jalal was quite angry and Jodha had to get out the truth as as fast as possible...so her direct questions...
Second time Jalal himself played with Rahim and promised him no punishment so obviousely Rahim will be relaxed...
Why would Salima not understand Jalal? She knows Jalal-MA bond all her life.
and Jodha's crying over Ratan is not is not al all illlogical...No one except Jalal has told her the truth and why would she believe Jalal?
