I was wondering why you seem to find it okay for men in general to want to keep their woman from any other males eyes. What is it that seems to make it okay? Because as I said above, although the custom may have existed in the rajput culture for their woman to wear the veil or purdah, they don't show it that way in the historical drama of Maharana Pratap, so why is it so weird for Jodha to be free of this requirement. yes they are showing a period tv serial, but somethings can be changed to suit the present day follower.
Jalal's possessiveness I find far from acceptable. I don't care what day and age it is depicting , but just because it was okay back then doesn't make it acceptable. Beating ones wife was also acceptable back in the day...if they showed that on television would it be ok??? However, I also know that the drama of this show is jalal's possessiveness towards Jodha and I am watching this tv serial still...
I think that if Jodha had gotten married to Suryabhan he would have been fine for her to wear the clothing that she is currently shown wearing without covering her face. She wears the dupatta, but nothing that completely keeps her covered. When she went to his palace, they seemed very open and friendly and welcoming. Even jodha's sister in laws only wear an Odhni, nothing else covering their face...why after marriage does her life have to change that much where she has to conform to the practice of wearing the purdah which appears to me to be against what she is used to in her present day state of living.
We can also PM if you prefer, but I wanted to apologize personally for the above comment here just in case anyone else read it and was offended by it.
