Tripti, from the beginning of the novel till the end, there is not an iota of love between them. Very disappointing and ruthlessly pragmatic .But that is because historical records do not mention much about their relationship. So it is for everyone to create their own .

Thank you Ritu. 😊

Well, Ritu, I do not want all this hate stuff by some idiotic author who is proud of knowing nothing cluttering up my thread for Jalal, so kindly desist, there is a good girl!😉

You should know better than to attach any importance to a writer with a name like Alex Rutherford. I suppose it is a British name, and you cannot trust any perfidious Albion as far as you can throw a table. They had sucked India dry when they were ruling us, and once we got rid of them., they try to colonise our minds from afar. We do not need an Alex Rutherford to tell us what Akbar and Jodha were like to each other. By the way, why is a hate story "ruthlessly pragmatic"? Is it that a love story has to be non-pragmatic?

I personally do not knowm and do not care whether there was a great love story or not. In any case, Jalal would, in real life, have had more to do than moon around a wife, get shoved by her, swear vengeance, get insulted by the proto-Tansen, waste time on an overweight kaneez with a pseudo Mata Hari act, get wet hauling her out of the water, and then sit in bed wondering how many screws are loose in the aforesaid wife's head. 😉

When did he expand his empire, win all those wars, reform the administration, and travel endlessly within the Mughal dominions?

I do not suppose he and Jodha were like Shahjahan and Mumtaz, which was just as well, for that epic love story reportedly almost bankrupted the empire. But they must have had a solid marriage based on mutual regard, which is already more than enough in any age. If they had been eternally at loggerheads, why would he have given her the monopoly of the Haj travel? Plus they had a number of kids. What more can you ask for?

If the heir apparent Salim proved to be so unsatisfactory that Akbar would have traded him in had there been another at least halfway viable candidate, that was not Jodha's fault! It only goes to prove the adage that the only thing worse than not getting what you want - ie a waliahat - is getting it, ie Salim!

not attaching any importance to the hate story at all Aunty . It is as fictitious as can be . I was just wondering if you had read it . I found it too disappointing .And have removed any mention of mine about it from your thread 😊

DEAR SHAYAMLA AUNTY,

I am a silent reader, I always read your post and enjoy it... I have no words of expression most of the time...Your post are beyond my expectation and U surprise me every time with your analysis
Today!!!! I am crying with this article ... I love it... I agree with every single word in this chapter... Rajat is a extra ordinary actor... and I will not hesitate to compare him to Dilip kumar or Amitabh bachhan... I love Rajat's acting... In TV serial...every day one episode... with that many dialogues... he has proved himself already...he is the best actor in TV industries...
Thank you for this article!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!👏👏👏

Oh, Lord, my dear Ritu, that was a joke, the first para, whence the 😉! As for that Alex Rutherford, I have written about him./her a lot in my post as well,, so he/she has already been immortalised in the IF! Never mind, now that you have removed the initial traces, we shall proceed to forget this character.

As a change of flavour, see what Komal has dug up and put in my last thread. It is one of my favourite photos. I was sitting outside the conference venue at the Taj Coromandel after my speech was over, this was in March 2004, and laughing up at the photographer, and the next morning, this article was in The Hindu. It is rather nice, don't you agree?
