I'm sorry, but the critical factor is not the ratio between two contestants' scores which, as you say, will remain the same as the denominator for percentage calculations varies. It is the difference between them, which will vary inversely with the magnitude of the denominator on which the "percentage" is calculated (i.e. larger denominator, smaller percentage **differential**).
I would suggest working **fully** through various numeric examples.

They published it in the website. just go to this link
http://www.starboxoffice.com/contest/jjws/vote.asp
then click on "I agree with the terms blah blah blah...", then you can read the procedure...a very long one!
Long, yes. Informative no. The linked page has two "tabs", one for "General rules" (with 63 + 29 articles) and one for "Voting Rules" (with 15 + 11 articles). "25%" and "50%" are cited in various places, but IN NO PLACE is the exact nature of the calculation specified. IN NO PLACE is it explained EXACTLY HOW judges scores and audience voting ARE IN FACT MADE COMMENSURABLE on a 50/50 basis.
I'm simply amazed at the extent to which people are prepared to believe that "rules" exist when IN FACT THEY DO NOT.
It is all arbitrary. And may that give you great joy.
