Jhalak Dikhala Jaa season 9's first episode just aired and I must mention it was a mix of some very good, good and average performances.
What I liked:
Judges:
Although we have Karan and Ganesh from previous seasons but they were really nice. Jacqueline added a new favour to the panel by her dancing and prompt replies. Enjoyed them. Their dance as well. Haha. Karan is funny and enjoys with the flow of show.
Host: Manish is funny and comical. Good.
Choreographers: Most of them are new to Jhalak except few. New clan of them. Good and nice.
All the contestants this year seems to be fresh and have thier own weaknesses and strong points.
I really enjoyed Shakti, Surveen, Salman, Shantanu, The twin sisters Priyanka and Poonam, and Chef Harpaal 's performances. These really had very good perforomances considering it as first episode aka Pehli Jhalak. I expect really good from them.
Some good enjoyable performances includes;
Karishma, Nora, Helly(she appears childish), Arjun, and Siddhant. They are all good looking people and have seen them in their shows so I expect them to do much better, especially Sid, and Arjun and Karishma.
Some average performances includes;
Arjun, Nora (I added them here too as I cannot put them in just good or average) and Gaurav aka Chutki( And I honestly hope that they mention him as Gaurav ONLY because thats his identity while Chutki is his fictional comedy character only. So I hope they dont force him to perform like Kiku Sharada who performed as Palak in previous season, as it was drastic in the name of generating comedy factor and destroying a contestant's Jhalak career.) Gaurav would do really well if he will dance as Gaurav. I expect him to do better as he is really good actor.
Special mentions;
Twin sisters from Chicago, Poonam and Priyanka performed in fusion of Bharatnatyam and Hip Hop. Amazing. Loved it. Jacqueline was so happy to see them.
What I did not like;
Nora's lie about being a non dancer. Common girl, you have said it on Bigg Boss. And now this. Anyway, at least, Salman and Shantanu are better than you as they did not made any excuses as they both are professional dancers. Unlike tou, Nora who just clarified unnecessarily.
Why they took voting from REAL audience? Everyone knows studio audience aren't trustable. So I dont like this new voting system as it appears fixed.
The timing of Jhalak is late 10PM and only Saturday to telecast. Why?
One more thing to mention is; Skilled dancers never or rarely win Jhalak, so I feel bad for Salman, and Shantanu. As both are professional dancers.
Anyway, great start of Jhalak, and looking forward to it.
