I believe you are mistaken. Here is what the show's description at http://www.aapkacolors.com/us/jhalak-dikhhla-jaa/about.php says:
"About the show
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded
After a successful stint last year, Colors is back with Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, but this time it is Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded! It is a television reality show and the Indian version of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and ABC's Dancing with the Stars. There will be 12 celebrities who will compete with each other along with their choreographer partners.
From the dance studio to the dance floor, the show will follow the moves of the twelve celebrities as they will be seen surpassing all limitations and outshining in the new frontiers of dance with some never-seen-before acts. Viewers will see dance spilling outside the studio walls as the contestants will be challenged to portray their true talent in some unusual outdoor locations as well.
As the mercury rises, contestants will leave no chance to outdo performances with the use of unconventional props, graphics and animation added with internationally acclaimed video mapping technology etc. Last season also we witnessed innovative concepts from Relay dance to performing with Live DJ Music to shaking a leg with an extra partner in Teen Ka Tadka'.
Throwing challenges in their path are the new judges panel of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa - the king of entertainment, Karan Johar and Bollywood's heartthrob Shahid Kapoor who will act as the 'Swag Gurus' and choreographer par excellence Ganesh Hegde and Jhalak's very own Lauren Gottlieb to be seen as 'Dance Gurus'
Get ready to be inspired as the contestants up their ante and rise up to the challenge of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded... every Saturday and Sunday at 9.00 pm only on COLORS!!"
It looks to me as if this show is about determining who is the best dancer, not who is the most improved dancer. Otherwise mediocre dancers who enter the show will have an advantage over trained dancers (because improving from being mediocre to being less mediocre is faster) which makes little sense. Improvement as a dancer is important and is one of the underlying goals of the show. However the winner is decided primarily on their dancing skills.
thanks for the article ... i never understand this format of non-dancer to dancer thing.. if that is main concept than it makes no sense to bring dancers... and if non-dancers to dancers is the concept then what is voting method doing here????
season when prachi desai won JDJ at that time the runner who is a good dancer said openly that the voting system is not fair to decide the value of talent as it is unfair to who dance well but cannot get more votes...
at that time i never watched JDJ (by fluke i saw that segment) so i have no clue what was she saying..
the first season of JDJ i saw was on colors when Gurmeet won... at that time i want isha to win but unfortunately she is injured so i supported Gurmeet ... then i felt gurmeet improved alot from start so he deserves ... i have no clue of this non-dancer and voting thing 😆
in next season it was more focused on the concept of non-dancer thing and votes... that is the first time i was more active in the forum so came to know about all this...
but as a general audience (which i was before coming to IF) thought it is not fair DD won over lauren ...
so for normal viewer who never visits any SNS will thing Faisal or shamita should win as they are very good dancers to JDJ8 ...
