In order to be a fan and find someone talented or like someone ... Doesn't mean you have to watch each and every episode.

When a producer hires an actor and say ... I have seen him or her in such show and thought that person is perfect for a certain role doesn't mean the producer spends his time watching each and every episode.

It is common sense.

Maybe his mom watches and he sees it here and there when she's watching...I'm not a fan of cricket, but when my dad watches sometimes i also watch, so i know the cricketers...something like that probably.
