Feb. 14th:
Chang and Marisha: I liked how the emotion was portrayed in their performance. The whole angst and the pushing-pulling type dance movements kept the whole performance at a high point. We got to see a different side/shade of Chang's through this performance too which was interesting. I'd say maybe 8.5/10.
Yaana and Salman: Cute performance. I'm glad Salman and Yaana opted for a lighthearted romantic performance this time, instead of an intense type romantic stuff they've done so much of already. It was refreshing to see them be goofy and dorky. 😆 Although I did feel, that the dorky/geeky bits felt TOO rehearsed. Moments like these in a dance performance need to come across as spontaneous in my opinion in order to bring out the desired effect. I feel like these two did get alot of the nuances of a 'first love' down like the awkwardness, excitement and euphoria. But I wish there was more spontaneity. Also, one thing that always bugs me a bit about Salman's choreography is I feel like he doesn't always listen to the music. This may just be my opinion, but I sometimes feel like he's so into thinking up challenging choreography that he misses the simplicity or what's natural to the piece of music. I like how Salman is so innovative, but I wish he would connect his dancing more to the music. Sometimes a moment in the song requires simplicity, or just expressing...putting in TOO challenging a choreography in those moments kills the effect in my opinion. Then the focus is more on oh what a cool move, rather than that feeling of love, or whatever overall emotion you are trying to portray. It makes you disconnect for a bit. Anyways, just my opinion. The performance was cute though and I did like the hand/feet touches on the bench....so I'd give it an 8.5/10.
Ankita and Nishant: I want to appreciate Ankita's expressive-ness in her dancing. She could've gone OTT in such a concept, but I liked how she kept her expressions subtle yet impactful in this performance. The overall performance didn't get me that emotionally involved though. Maybe minus the ending where Nishant picks her up and is consoling her. That was a touching bit. But overall, I'd say 8/10.
Mahi and Savio: I think Mahi has basicaly reached her potential on JDJ now. 😆 I don't think Savio can do much more for her either. I think she herself knows that she needs to be out at this point. 😆 I wasn't really disappointed with this performance though, it was ok types like Mahi's recent performances all have been so I'd say 7/10.
Sushant and Shampa: Interesting how Shampa showed such an Indian concept in a western dance form. I liked the choreography and Shampa was awesome of course, but I don't think this was Sushant's best. He was too aloof...and happy(?) during this performance...😕😆 Maybe he was excited/happy about proposing to Ankita or something so you could tell that he wasn't quite in the zone. Hence I couldn't connect totally with the emotion of a soldier leaving and all. I think Sushant was smiling too much or something....lol. Perhaps he was just too happy for himself (and Ankita) that day to be feeling the emotions of his performance...or something like that...😆 Anyways, Shampa was awesome. I'd give them 8.5-9/10.
Oh and the best moment of the episode had to be Sushant proposing to Ankita. Aww! 😆 These two are really adorable. When I read the article about Sushant proposing to Ankita and all, I was kind of skeptical and I was hoping it wasn't going to be a gimmick the channel people were playing or something. But it turned out to be a genuinely sweet moment. I love how Ankita was going W*F and trying to shut Sushant up in some bits when he was reciting all these cheesy lines! 😆 SO adorable! And Sushant was just loving getting to do all the nautanki and fit in that lame saat khoon maaf wala dialogue in between! 😆 And the mortification when Ankita calls him 'gugu'! 😆😆 I love the way Sushant hugs Ankita too...it's such an affectionate, protective and genuine sa hug! Aww these two are just so genuinely adorable! Makes you wanna be happy for them! :)
