Hard Kaur: Gauhar needs to grow up

Gauhar Khan's comments about Hard Kaur on the sets of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3 has created a rift in the contestants' already strained relationship.

In the upcoming episode of Jhalak, video footage of Gauhar Khan and Hard Kaur from the house was aired. There, Gauhar was caught saying that Kaur couldn't dance.
When contacted, Gauhar denied having any problem with Kaur, saying, "I have no issues with her. I don't know why it has been portrayed as if I do."

She even goes as far to say nice things about her rival, saying, "She is a nice person," but doesn't keep it up for long, adding, "she said a few things about me in the video footage. She gave high ratings to the other contestants but did not even take my name was she was asked who would reach the finals. But that is her opinion; everyone wants to win."

Hard Kaur gives her side of the story, saying, "This week, my performance was inspired by the circus. I got full marks for it. Then, they showed footage of Gauhar saying I can't dance and that is why lifts are always included in my routines. When Shweta Tiwari asked her why she said this, she denied saying it. Gauhar has problems with everyone and this time it was me."

The singer does not see the reason behind Gauhar's ill feelings towards her, saying, "I do not know why she is jealous of me. She is taller and even better looking. But I bet she can't even do two of my lifts. Nobody is stopping her from including lifts in her performance."

Gauhar defends herself saying, "I have always been honest on the show and I have never attacked anyone. These rumours don't affect me and I will continue to talk to her as I have before: nicely."

But according to Kaur, Gauhar hasn't been one of the most honest contestants. "The funniest thing is that the last time, when they asked Gauhar about what she said about Parul, she denied that comment too! I think she needs to grow up. Everyone knows that there are cameras in the Jhalak house; if you say something, just accept it!" says Kaur.

Kaur wants to enjoy herself on the show and is keen to avoid getting involved in any nasty business. She says, "There are only 5 people remaining and I am glad that I am one of them.

When I was asked for a reaction I said, 'mujhe kuch farak nahi padta'. I was more excited about the fact that I got the highest marks, a standing ovation and 100 rupees from Saroj ji! I wanted to call my mom and tell her about it. So I said, 'agar aap khud galat nahi ho toh aap dusron par pathar mar sakte hain'."

It seems like Gauhar is controversy's child as she has been embroiled in all kinds of trouble since the start of Jhalak's season 3. Catch more of her drama unfold on this Friday's episode.

Can Parul's popularity save her?

Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa 3 contestant Parul Chauhan is in deep trouble. After being amongst the bottom two contestants twice in a row so far, the actress also receives the lowest marks on the upcoming episode that will air this Friday. This makes her the candidate most likely to be eliminated on Saturday. But can her popularity save her?

Parul, who is a household name because of her role as Ragini on Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai, has always claimed that her popularity with audiences would be a boon to her in the competition. But with the contestants down to just five, and her performances not being up to the mark, it looks probable that the she'll have to bid goodbye to the dance show.
In fact, the actress has had what could be termed as a lucky run so far, with no spectacular performances till date. Parul's first performance with her choreographer Deepak was on the hit track Desi Girl from Dostana and though she had the sexy look down perfectly, she had a lot to learn dance wise. Luckily, her acting skills came into play and she was praised for her expressions. Parul managed to score 20 marks; a good start.

Her next routine was a little more dramatic…and she wasn't acting either! While performing to the folk number Choli Ke Peeche Kya, Parul was so worried and tired that she fainted. The performance was cut short though she was judged for whatever she did and scored 22 marks. In addition to this, she garnered a whole lot of sympathy from the audience and enough votes to move on to the next round.
After the fainting incident, which made news everywhere and gave the actress even more publicity, Parul did the samba. This time, she wore a skimpy, sexy little outfit; something she claimed she would have never dreamed of wearing before. The song she performed to was Ishq Kabhi Kariyo Na. From bahu to bombshell, her look was appreciated by the judges and audiences too liked Parul's sexy avatar. She was safe yet again in the elimination round, even though her performance failed to impress and she stagnated at 22 marks.

But Parul's luck ran out when she performed next on the romantic number Baa Khuda Tumihi Ho. The concept behind the routine, based on the first night of a newly married couple, was unique but Parul fumbled with her prop, an elastic band. She tried to cover up but the judges noticed and gave her just 19 marks. This was the first time that the actress was in the danger zone; though she was saved by the judges' marks.

Last week, Parul managed to impress with a new form of dance: Bachata. She and her choreographer danced to Aayi Ye Mehrban and scored 28 marks. However, she landed in the danger zone for the second time and was saved from elimination by the judges, who eliminated Shilpa Shukla instead.

In the upcoming week's circus themed show, everyone performed on songs related to the circus and even wore clown costumes. But Parul didn't manage a good score and there are high chances that this will see her in the face off round for third time consecutively.

Though Parul is an audience favourite, it seems that it is becoming difficult for viewers to choose her over the other four contestants - Karan Singh Grover, Hard Kaur and Baichung Bhutia - who are performing better. Now, her fate on the show completely depends upon her popularity and whether it will translate into votes from the public.

What's on Jhalak tonight?

Today's episode of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3 (Sony TV, Friday and Saturday at 9pm) follows a circus theme. A source, present at the shooting of the episode, lets us in on what to expect this evening.

The source says, "It was a good opportunity for the five contestants and their choreographers to prove their mettle and that's exactly what happened."
And as usual, consistent Hard Kaur impressed judges Saroj Khan, Vaibhavi Merchant and Juhi Chawla. "She even got a standing ovation from them," says the source, adding, "She performed to a track from the film Welcome and did a wonderful job. Kaur scored full marks as well as gained Rs. 100 from Saroj."

Karan and Nicole too received Saroj's Rs. 100 reward, which she gives to the night's top performers. The duo was one mark short of a complete score with 29 points.

As for the rest of the contestants, the source says, "They were good but as the contest is now in its final stages, every act is being scrutinised."

And crowd favourite Parul Chauhan bared the brunt of the judges' meticulous examination and faced harsh criticism for her performance. "Even judges' favourite Baichung could not impress. So it's going to be interesting to see who has to perform in the face off round on Saturday," adds the source.

In addition to the competition getting tougher, it also gets more dramatic with video footage of Gauhar claiming that Hard Kaur can't dance being aired. The source says, "In return, Kaur said that Gauhar's comments don't affect her. This was the first time that the bitterness between the two contestants emerged out in the open. Previously, all we heard were rumours of ego clashes between them."

From next week onwards, with only four contestants on the show, Jhalak's semifinals will begin. Every pair will then have to perform on two songs each episode.

Deepak wants Parul to buck up

Parul Chauhan may only have a dwindling chance of staying in the competition on Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa 3 but her choreographer Deepak Singh is willing to fight it out till the end. Deepak, who attributes his newfound fame to Parul, is thankful to have her for a partner and hopes that they make it to the finals. But first, he thinks that Parul should stop being so "dhila".

Even after being amongst the bottom two contestants twice in a row, Deepak rubbishes the fact that he and Parul might be eliminated, saying, "I do not think that anything is going wrong."
Though, he feels that Parul's lack of time should be taken into consideration. He says, "She hardly gets an hour to rehearse and she is still giving it her best shot. People should appreciate that, in such a minimum amount of time, she is still doing well. She manages to get only one hour each day to practice because of her schedule. Sometimes, because she's so tired, she sleeps in the Jhalak house before rehearsing."

Parul's loyal choreographer is full of praise for the TV actress, going on to say, "We did a good job with the ballet, jugal bandi and bachata. She learnt each of these in two days. She was not a dancer before she participated on the show, yet she managed to perform all these dance forms. No one notices that! They only notice when someone gets full marks. According to me, 29 points is equal to 30. I don't think that any of her performances were bad; maybe the judges expect something else from her. Even so, no one can disagree on one thing: that her expressions are unbeatable."

However, Deepak is also not afraid to point out Parul's negative traits, saying, "The only thing that she needs to change is that she should be stronger with regards to her life and performances. She is quite dhila that way. I told her that she lacks inner strength and have even given her a few exercises to follow."

Parul was criticised by the judges for her latest performance which will air on this Friday's episode. Deepak explains, "Everyone did many lifts but I didn't give her any because it would not have been possible. Instead, we included a prop of a treadmill. We scored the lowest, but at this stage, the competition is tough. The 5 contestants on the show are all good dancers."

Deepak hopes that like last year, he and Parul will win this season of Jhalak. "Though I am happy to have reached so far, I want to win the finals this year too. However, I am nervous because we have come in the danger zone twice consecutively."

In fact, the choreographer feels that Parul is very similar to Prachi (his partner last season), saying, "Prachi was also working on a hit show, their names starts with the letter 'P' and they are both really popular. Their way of talking too is similar. But the greatest similarity between them is that they are both like kids. I guess the production house thinks that I can handle kids very well!"

He is grateful to Parul because working with her has gotten him numerable job offers. Deepak adds, "I get calls for workshop only because of her. She did bachata and lambada so well. If she hadn't, no one would have called me! After Jhalak, I'll be conducting workshops in Pune and Hyderabad. People know about me and my work because of Parul and I am so thankful."

Deepak hopes that, along with him and Parul, they get to complete with contestants Karan Singh Grover or Hard Kaur in the finale.

What's Happening on Jhalak

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3's Friday episode had the contestants clowning around with its circus theme. However, though Karan Singh Grover and Hard Kaur pleased the judges with their performances, the other circus folk left them far from amused.

Gauhar Khan and Himansu
Gauhar and Himanshu performed on the song Kaach Ki Gudiya from Asoka. Gauhar looked pretty in her doll costume but overall, there was nothing extraordinary about their routine that included a handcart as a prop. They received mixed reactions from the judges. Taking Gauhar's grace in to consideration, we feel that it was by no means a bad performance, albeit a safe one. They scored 28 marks.
Indya rating: 8.5

Gauhar Khan and Himansu
It was hard to recognise Parul and Deepak in their brilliant costumes. Unfortunately, Parul's act didn't quite match up to her look. The duo used a treadmill as their prop, which did not go with the circus theme. The danced to Pyaar Ka Signal from Bhagam Bhag and managed to score 26 marks.
Indya rating: 6.5

Karan Singh Grover and Nicole

Karan took the judges' comments of him not incorporating enough dance into his performances seriously. He used the circus theme really well and Nicole incorporated the props excellently as they danced to the song O Humdum Suniyo Re from Saathiya. Karan's body language and attitude, especially when he hung on the metal rods, rocked. The duo performed many flawless lifts and their chemistry was amazing. Saroj rewarded them with Rs. 100. They scored 29 marks.
Indya rating: 10

Hard Kaur and Savio
Hard Kaur and Savio performed magic tricks before their performance, which were thoroughly entertaining. The judges and the audience could not control their laughter. During their routine, where they danced to Welcome's title song, they were simply stunning. The highlight was seeing Savio amazingly spin around with Hard Kaur at his waist. The judges gave them a well deserved standing ovation and Saroj gave them Rs. 100. They scored a full 30 marks.
Indya rating: 10

Baichung Bhutia and Sonia

The presentation and concept behind Baichung's and Sonia's act were very good. But Baichung looked uncomfortable during the performance, even though he executed the steps well. The judges appreciated Sonia's innovation but said that the performance lacked something. They performed on the song Soniyo Mera Saath Do from Raaz - The Mystery continues and scored 25 marks
Indya rating: 6
