Prachi Desai roots for two-left-feet Ram

Prachi Desai really hopes that her old costar Ram Kapoor, whom starred with in Kasamh Se, makes it to the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3 finals. Ram was eliminated last week but Prachi is convinced that, though he lacks the necessary dancing skills, his charm will get him back on the dance floor through a wildcard entry.

THE actress, who knows the ins and outs of the reality as she won its second season, says, "I have watched his performances and he is very cute. I think that it was surprising for his fans to learn that Jai Walia (his Kasamh Se character) can dance. I was nice to watch him, though he has a lot to learn! He has a sporting spirit. Considering he is very popular, I think he will reach the finale. It is very tough to predict a winner on Jhalak at this stage but it would be great if he won."
Prachi too was eliminated during her time on Jhalak but she reentered as a wildcard entrant and went on to win the season. She talks about the many talented contestants on the show, saying, "This year the competition is really good. Among the girls, Gauhar, Parul and Hard Kaur are great. As for the boys, Karan, Mohinder and Ram are very popular."

Prachi says that Ram, who participated in Jhalak to banish the severe image that stuck with him after he played Jai Walia on Kasamh Se, is far from stern in real life. She adds, "We would not be able to control our laughter on the sets of Kasamh Se. He would come up with different pranks to play on us everyday!"

After Kasamh Se went off air, Ram has only appeared on Jhalak. He is said to have signed a new show too but he says that he cannot reveal details about the project as of now.

Shiv's out, Rohit's in

Despite having well known participants on the show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (Sony TV) has not been able to fetch the channel good enough ratings. So this week, the channel will surprise its viewers by bringing in Ronit Roy to replace Shiv Pandit and host with Shweta Tiwari.

A source informs us, "This season of Jhalak has very famous faces from different fields so there were high chances that the show would get great TRPs. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case."
And the apparent reason the show isn't faring well is because of its male host. The source adds, "The fact is that Shiv Pandit, who is one of the hosts on the show, hasn't been getting good responses. This is why he will be replaced by Rohit."

There have also been rumours that Shiv is now busy shooting for his South movies and that is the reason he decided to leave Jhalak. Shiv says, "I was signed for a certain number of episodes and I've completed those. I am currently working on two movies which will release this year in June. Apart from that, there is also something else that I am working on but I cannot reveal anything about it."

In the meanwhile, Rohit Roy, who hosted the last season of Jhalak with Mona Singh, is delighted to get back on the show. He says, "Well for me, more than anything, it's about coming back home! Jhalak is very close to my heart. I loved the first season of the show and fortunately, I got an opportunity to host the second season."

Rohit has already shot for one episode and he will be seen in the wildcard round this Friday. Talking about the experience, he tells us, "Jhalak is a wonderful show and being a part of it has always been a splendid experience for me. This time too, it was no different!"

It is also rumored that for the wildcard round, Mona Singh will be seen with Rohit. However, from Saturday's show, Shweta will be back again and seen hosting with the actor.

What's on in Jhalak

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa's wildcard episode will see some thrilling performances by the eliminated contestants as they try to fight their way back on to the show. Here is some behind-the-scenes gossip from the episode set to air this Friday.

A source from the show says, "The first big change on the show was Rohit Roy's presence as a host. He hosted this episode and will continue with the upcoming shows too. Along with him, last year's host Mona Singh also joined him. However, she hosted the first half of the episode while Shweta Tiwari took over the rest." The reason behind Ronit replacing original host Shiv Pandit was that Shiv was not getting good enough responses from the audience.
Talking about the performances, the source says, "The highest scorer and total shocker of the evening was composer Anand Raj Anand. He did a comedy act and to a song that had a South Indian touch to it and scored 29 marks. Gauhar too performed well in the wildcard round; her scored was 27."

However, the rest of the ex-contestants were less than impressive. The source says, "Ugesh Sarcar, Mohinder Amarnath, Bhaygyashree, Ram Kapoor and the rest of the performers were fine but they failed to impress the judges very much." The results of the wildcard entry will be announced on Saturday's episode. There is a possibility that Gauhar or Anand Raj Anand will make it back on the show.

"On the other hand, contestants Karan Grover, Monica Bedi and Hard Kaur performed together on a special song while Shilpa Shukla and Parul Chauhan danced to Oye Re Maro Dholna."

Off screen, Karan had a fight with a security guard when Shraddha (Karan's wife, who accompanies him to the sets every week) was not allowed in the studio. The production house had to step in and managed to solve the issue.

The wildcard entry episode of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa will air on Friday at 9pm.

DKD to replace JDJ3 by May 23

A source from the show says, "The last time we had a word with Salman, he was shooting for Veer and agreed to give us dates. The channel is planning to air the show by the end of May or in June. We know that DKD will be replacing Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa's current season. Jhalak has been on for 7 weeks so far and is expected to end by May 23."

Anushka Sharma to show off her skills on JDJ 3

Anushka Sharma is sweating it out at the gym and rehearsing with a vengeance to make sure she is ready to rock the dance floor on dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3, which airs this weekend. The actress is making an appearance on the show to promote Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi's DVD launch. We caught up with her to get the details of her performance, her new film and rumours of her exclusive contract with Yashraj.

What was it like entering the Jhalak house?
Coming here has been a very good experience. I have come for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi's DVD launch and what better platform to choose than Jhalak. It is a hit show, watched by so many peoples.

Tell us about your upcoming performance on Jhalak.
If you've seen Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, the song Huale Haule has Suri, played by Shah Rukh Khan, performing on it. So, for the first time, Tani, my character from the film, is going to be dancing to it! And as I am performing on the track for the first time, I'll have to rehearse really hard. It is the remixed version of Haule Haule and Hard Kaur has rapped to it. The song is lovely and I am really looking forward to it. I think it's already playing on radio stations so people are aware of it.

Have you been following the show?
Yes, I have been watching Jhalak. Hard Kaur is my favourite amongst all the contestants. She is really fun and a fabulous dancer. She is a complete package and is tremendously entertaining.

Did you give the contestants any tips?
I have not given anyone any tips; they are all good dancers. In fact, I looked at their performances to try and figure out who is the best. I even looked to see if I could copy some of their steps! I'm alright at dancing but have no professional training. For Rab Ne…, Shaimak and Vaibhavi worked really hard so that the sequences turned out good. I just followed their instructions and I did okay. Now, as I am used to dancing, I can perform better than I did earlier; I have a little more confidence.

Have you considered participating in a reality show?
I don't know; I don't think about my future too much. I have not appeared in many reality shows. The first time was on Nach Baliye to promote my film and this time I am on Jhalak for the DVD launch.

What's your next project?
My next is a Yashraj film, directed by Parmeet Sethi. I am starring opposite Shahid Kapur. If I tell you what it is about you will think that it is clichd but actually, it is a very different movie. I have the read script and have fallen in love with it completely. I was so excited to start work on it. It is a fabulous movie and I am going to enjoy it.

Are you allowed to do projects outside Yashraj?
I do have a contract with Yashraj. When I signed Rab Ne…, it was in my contract that I would be doing two other movies with them. But this is not an exclusive contract and does not say that I cannot work on other projects. It was misunderstood by people; I was getting outside offers and everything was fine. I can sign films outside of Yashraj.

Do you think your career started off slow?
I do not agree with this. Even when I was modeling, I would choose my assignments carefully. For me, it is not about signing 5-6 films and people talking about it. I will do projects only when I want to and when they excite me. This is something that I entirely believe in. I am choosing my projects the same way I was while I was modeling. This way, I will not head in a wrong direction.

How has your life changed?
Well, people are recognising me now when I go out, which is really very sweet. It lets you know that they have watched you in film and they liked you. My life has not changed completely at all apart from this.

Which team are you supporting from the IPL?
I am a very smart person; I am going to support the team that wins. I will watch each match and cheer for the team that I feel is winning.

Anushka will be performing along with all the choreographers from Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Saturday's episode at 9pm. The wildcard entrant will also be declared during the episode.
