She might have been the girl next door once.Today, after herinnumerable makeovers, the whole of India wants to be her neighbour. But all that success comes at a price. Mona Singh's life is way too hectic for anyone's comfort. She shoots round-the-clock and practically lives on the sets. "You'll never see me at home," she chirps. So we caught up with her on the sets of Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin…
1. On time, every time
There are very few people on the sets. Mona is one among them. She takes exactly 30 minutes to do her makeup. Thanks to her porcelain complexion, she doesn't need too much of pancakes and translucent powder. But eye-make up is a must as it defines her almond-shaped eyes. At the stroke of nine, she is ready to face the camera.
2. Star struck
Meet the Guptas: avid Jassi viewers and ardent fans. They've come down all the way from Delhi to meet their onscreen idol. Mrs. Gupta says, "I always wanted to meet Jassi because I really look up to her." Mona smiles a little uncomfortably at the compliment. But she knows how important her fans are and takes time out to meet them.
3. The accidental perfectionist?
Not really… because that is the way she has been all her life. When she is shooting, she runs to the monitor after every shot. And more often than not, she tends to finds flaws… in everything. "I have always been very critical of myself," she explains. Her unit members have now banned her from coming anywhere near the monitor.
4. Spoon feeding
Come hell or high water, she has to have her lunch at half past one. And what does she eat? It's either dal and rice or roti and sabzi. As a rule she never has roti and rice together. If she is bored of this routine food, she orders a salad from nutritionist Vrinda Mehta. Off late, she has decided to knock off those extra pounds by keeping away from desserts.
5. Miles to go before I… zzzz
Power nap… that's what this is. While the rest of her unit is still eating, Mona catches forty winks. That's also the time she switches off her mobile phone.
"I just cannot get back to work immediately after lunch. I need some time so that I can re-charge my batteries," she smiles sleepily.
