Everyone is pleased with DD's gifts. Nani and Mona ask her for Sid-Roshni's gifts, and she calls out for them. She hands them their monthly bills of about 27K, something which shocks the rest of the family. Nani and Mona try to intervene to pay as Sid and Roshni don't have enough, but the two of them refuse any form of help. DD tells all her servants to go on a one month leave, and till then, Sid can work as a servant to repay back the loan.
Roshni is furious at DD, but Sid agrees. She tells him to remove her sandals and get a different pair, and Sid agrees to do it. Roshni tries to stop him, but he says that working for your own mother in your own house is a blessing, and in this way he gets to touch his mother's feet, as DD never blessed them after marriage. DD gets angry on listening to this and walks off.
Roshni wants to leave the house, but Sid explains that if Simran was in DD's place, she'd have no qualms in doing the same thing. He tells her that in this way, he gets to spend Diwali with his lovely wife, and they learn how to control their anger. Roshni feels proud on listening to him and agrees to stay back.
The next morning, DD is angry at Sid cause he brought her daal and not soup. He tries to advocate the benefits of daal, but she's still annoyed. Roshni comes out with soup, and DD is irked because she'd specifically told none of the family members to help Sid. Roshni counters that she's not a part of DD's family, but she's Sid's wife, and helping one's husband is their duty. DD gets furious and walks off. Sid laments to himself that he's done all he could, but the mother-daughter duo is still at loggerheads.
Precap: Simran sees Sid-Roshni cleaning the house and insists that they should go home.
