Part 3

Roshni was happy that she was married to Siddharth. The love of her life. But then what was that feeling at the back of her heart?? Why was she happy..yet so sad.

She stood by Sid's side and watched as the guests left one by one.

Once they were all gone, her gaze slowly shifted towards her mother.

DD was standing still with her eyes shut. She had never suffered a greater loss and it was quite disturbing. "Durga.." Nani spoke up. "Won't you bless your daughter?"

Roshni smiled hopefully. She took a step towards her mother. She came to a sudden halt when her mother held up a hand.

"Don't you dare come near me girl!" DD hissed angrily. "I don't accept this marriage..got that?"

Sid gulped as he saw sudden tears in Roshni's eyes. Roshni was now his responsibility and he had to make sure that there isn't even a single drop of tear in her eyes.

His heart pained as he saw that Roshni's tears only got worse. This was understandable.

Every young woman wishes that her mother be by her side when she has gets married. Obviously Roshni must also wish the same.

DD walked up to Siddharth. "Boy you have not done right by messing with me" "You will pay for your deed."

"Roshni, this marriage isn't a marriage in my eyes..come with me" DD said taking Roshni's hand.

"Mom leave my hand!" Roshni jerked. She took Sid's arm confidently. "He is my husband and no one can take his place DD!"

Suddenly, Roshni saw tears forming in her mother's eyes and she figured why. She had accidentally let the word "mom" slip from her mouth.

Siddharth looked from DD to Roshni and understood. Things weren't so bad either. There was still a chance for maa-beti to be together. It looked as if DD had hidden the love for her daughter all these years.

Siddharth smiled. He would make sure to reunite Roshni and DD.

Suddenly Roshni's chachi came forward with an aarti ka thaal.

"It's a- a ritual!" Chachi exclaimed eagerly. DD rolled her eyes and marched up to her her bedroom.

"Chal Sid tu toh gaya" Sid mumbled to himself.

Everyone watched as Chachi performed her "rasam".

"Okay Nani Ji..we shall be leaving now" Jamai told Nani. Nani nodded. "I understand son."

"Noo!!" Everyone turned toward Chachi with wide eyes. "It's a raining outside!" Chachi said pointing out the window.

"Good point..my children, why don't you stay here until the rain stops?" Nani offered sweetly.

"Sexy's right" Roshni spoke up.

"Alright" Sid said.

Jamai sat down while Nani ordered a servant to bring them some food.

"So Roshni tell me how you met Sid" Nani said while she bit on a chip.

Roshni blushed at this question. "Nani Ji.. I think Roshni is too shy to answer, shall I?" Sid said winking.

"Of course my child!" Nani exclaimed.

"Well it turns out that my manager was plotting against Rosh's NGO and she thought it was I!" Saying this Siddharth turned towards Roshni and glared at her. Roshni tried giving him an apologetic look.

"And then?" Chachi asked in excitement. Sid paused for a moment to look at the big bowl of ice cream in her hand before continuing.

"Well then we kept coming across each other, it was like a dream come true for me." "I was totally smitten by her."

Roshni blushed at the remark.

"Well then one day I figured out the truth about the manager & I figured I was doomed as Roshni considered ME to be at fault."

Roshni pulled her ears thinking that he would glare at her again.

"Aww..no need to be afraid" Sid joked and he hugged from the side.

Chachi and Sexy smiled to themselves.

"Did you tell her the truth?" Bablu Chacha asked nervously.

"No need to be nervous with me around" Jamai told him kindly. "And no..unfortunately I did not tell her the truth which of course led to some misunderstandings, which I'll mention later."

"I thought that I should earn some love & trust from Roshni, then only would I tell her the truth" Sid went on. "We kept meeting and hanging out; and one day I was sure that Roshni too loved me."

"How'd you know?" Chachi asked innocently.

"He probably saw love for himself in her eyes, am I right Sid?" Bablu Chacha spoke up.

Sid smiled at him. He was opening up. Good!

"Absolutely correct" Sid said holding up his finger eagerly.

"And so I decided to take Rosh on a candlelight dinner and confess my feelings" Sid added.

"Oh..it's a..it's a..so romantic" Chachi said dreamily.

"Yes, the dinner was romantic" Sid confirmed happily. Even he was starting to blush a bit now.

"You know Chachi..we even had ice cream!!" Sid told her knowingly.

"OH really???" Chachi asked with a wide smile. Siddharth nodded happily.

"Was it yummy?" Chachi asked him.

Roshni replied, "Of course!! After all who was I sharing it with? My Sid!!!"

Siddharth cleared his throat warningly and Roshni bit her tongue.

"Relax..you both..it was a date so sharing ice cream is acceptable" Nani told them in a kind manner.

Bablu tried covering his smile with his hand. "I got it Bablu Chacha, you're smiling no need to hide it" Roshni told him with a pout.

Bablu stuck his tongue out at Roshni.

"Anyways, where were we at?" Nani asked.

"Oh yes the date!" Sid said snapping his fingers.

"Okay so during the date we went for a dance.."

"Sid..why are you explaining every single detail??? Can't you just skip some parts?" Roshni whispered angrily into his ear.

"As you wish Rosh" Sid said out loud.

"After our quality time eating and dancing I finally mustered up some courage to tell Roshni the truth."

Everyone was silent by now.

"What happened after you told her the truth?" Bablu asked finally.

"Disaster!! Hungama!!!!!" Siddharth yelled loudly.

Roshni pressed her lips together bracing herself for what she knew Sid was about to say next.

"She ripped off all the decorations I had worked so hard on" Sid said with a gloomy face.

"And her face..OMG...her eyes were so angry...and her nose so red..you'd think it was a clown's nose.."

"Sid.."

"I know Roshni you're not a clown" Siddharth assured her. She relaxed a bit.

"She even slapped-"

"Sid.." Roshni threatened.

"Slapped my arm!!" Sid said changing his words midway. 😆

"Okay..so the next day she was still very angry with me uh duh."

"I was so sad being away from my Rosh for so long" Siddharth said with a frown on his face. He gave Roshni a quick kiss on the cheek and smiled, "At least I have you with me now."

"Alright so..I decided to talk with the NGO children..I knew they would understand."

"At least they were patient enough to hear my side of the story" Sid said giving Roshni a look.

"They got that they had misunderstood me and they talked to their Di and explained it to her."

"Finally, Roshni figured out that I was innocent all along-"

Roshni spoke up asap: "Innocent you. Haha. Very funny." "Okay I admit you hadn't done anything and it was my fault but that doesn't make you innocent" Roshni explained.

Siddharth pulled her cheek. "As you say madam."

"Okay so how did Roshni manaao you?" Chachi asked, now drinking a can of soda.

"You know the normal weapon women use..their sweetness and innocence" Sid said casually. "And so finally I accepted her apology one day."

"Then you guys got together?" Nani asked.

Roshni shyly nodded. "Yes Sexy."

"Wow that was such a nice love story" Chachi exclaimed.

Bablu and Nani nodded in agreement to Chachi's words.

"And then they got married" Nani said and they all laughed.

All of them sat chit chatting as a family in the living room while DD stood by the stairs watching and listening. She smiled at the end when they all laughed. She had never seen her family sit together and talk to each other so freely without any fears or nervousness.

Jamai Raja who was looking around noticed DD up by the stairs. "Mother-In-Law what are you doing here? Come down na.."

DD just shrugged and said, "I came here to grab myself a glass of milk."

"I see" Jamai said understandingly.

Nani looked at her watch. "It's getting quite late and it's still raining, why don't you both stay the night?"

"Good idea" Roshni said. Sid also nodded at them. Besides, the longer he stayed here the more time he had to appease and win his mother-in-law's heart.

Roshni looked at her mother for approval. DD simply shrugged. Whatever.

"Okay children, up to bed!" Nani announced. Everyone nodded and went up to their rooms while Roshni took Sid's arm and took him up to show him her room.

"Good Night" Siddharth murmured to DD with a huge grin when he passed her.

DD had just rolled her eyes at him.
