N - maa...ragini ka bag please. Dimpy help maa. Karan tu gaadi chala meri. I am taking Ragini down
Nachiket carried Ragini and took her down by the lift. They left immediately. Ragini was in a lot of pain. She kept squeezing Nachikets hand. He rubbed her back and asked her to breathe. Once they reached the hospital the gynac was waiting for Ragini. While Ragini was being taken in she fainted. Nachiket panicked. The doctor assured him and took Ragini in for a check up. After a few minutes she came out
Dr - raginis bp has shot up. Also the babies are not in the right position. A normal delivery could be fatal for all three. We need to do a C section
N - do whatever is needed but save all 3
Ragini was taken into the OT. After sometime the doctor came out. The surgery was complete.
Dr. - congratulations! You have a daughter and a son dr. Neil
N - thanks a lot. How is Ragini? Can i meet her?
Dr - she is unconscious. She lost a lot of blood. We have kept her in the ICU
N - why there?
Dr - we just want to take no chances because of the blood loss. She will be conscious by tomorrow morning.
N - please be honest with me
Dr. - she seems to have gone into shock with the labour pains. Her BP shot up and she fainted. This created some complications. She will be in hospital for another week atleast to recover as she is extremely weak. She wont be able to care for the twins a lot. She will need help. She needs to be cared for like a child for the next few weeks even once she is home.
N - all my fault. She did tell me she feared labour pains and even spoke about not surviving it. I should have tackled that fear a lot more
Dr - that's the past. She needs you now. I know you are a busy doctor but just be there for her.
N - i will take leave from work till she recovers.
Dr - did you meet your kids?
N - that can wait. Can i see Ragini first? I am not able to breathe right now
Dr - calm down. You meet her alone. No other visitors till tomorrow.
N - thanks doctor.
Nachiket asked all the others to check on the kids. He ran to the ICU.
When he reached her room it was like time stopped for him. He kneeled besides her and kissed her forehead. She didn't react. He began crying silently. She looked so frail. Her tummy had subsided. He smiled thinking about the kids. He held her hand.
N - please get up fast. The kids and me are waiting. Maa is also very worried. So are all the rest. We got our wish. One daughter for me to spoil and a son for you to spoil. I dont want more kids. I promise. I will abstain from sex all my life. That's a lie. We both know that wont happen. But i will use protection. I know its not a 100%. But still. I will do whatever it takes to keep you healthy and happy. I cant see you like this. I am going to stay with the babies till you wake up. Then we will all be together. See you soon. Love you
Nachiket turned and left with tears in his eyes. He ran to where all were gathered
K - congrats bhai
D - congrats nachiket. The kids are gorgeous

M - congrats beta. Ragini will be fine. Ek raat ki baat hain
N - thanks all. Haan maa. Sirf ek raat

Nachiket ran in with a big smile. He looked at them placed in two cribs. One in blue and the other in pink wrapping cloth. He couldn't tell much of a difference at first. But then he saw his daughter smile just like him in her sleep. His son opened his eyes. They were just like Raginis eyes.
The nurse asked him if he wanted to carry them.
N - yes please. I am closing my eyes. Just put one in my hand. I dont want to choose. I will carry the other one next.
The nurse put one baby in his hand. He opened his eyes to see his baby gal yawn at his face. He laughed and kissed her forehead.
N - welcome Nishi. Papas doll. I was waiting for so many years for you. Even before papa realised he loved your mummy he always told her about how much he would love you. I feel so blessed to have you.
Nachiket put Nishi down and carried his son
N - so Mr. Ranbir Nachiket Khanna. Mammas boy. Tu toh mujhe bada competition dega. You will have all of Raginis attention. Love you beta. Just be more like your mom and not me
He smiled and put ranbir down. The kids were taken for their feed. Nachiket shuttled between Ragini and the kids all night. At around 5am Ragini woke up. She asked for Nachiket.
N - i am here. Don't worry.
R - the babies
Nachiket smiled
N - a son and a daughter. 3 minutes gap
Ragini had tears in her eyes.
R - i feel so weak.
N - you had a C-section. You just need some recovery time. Don't stress. The babies are fine.
R - can i see them please.
N - of course you can.
Nachiket spoke to the doctor. Ragini was shifted to a private room. When she was wheeled in the babies were waiting in their cribs. Nachiket took her wheelchair near them.
R - i don't know whom to hold first.
N - trust me i had the same issue.
R - i am so weak. I dont think i can carry them
N - you can. Just give me a moment.
Nachiket asked all the family members to leave. He placed her in the centre of the bed with the nurses help. He sat behind her with his legs on her sides and asked her to rest her back on his chest. He then told the nurse to put both the kids in her each hand while he also helped her hold them. They both woke up and smiled.
Ragini kissed them and held them close with Nachikets help. The kids started getting restless. Ragini got worried. The nurse said that it was time for their feed so she would take them
R - but why? I can feed them
Nachiket sensed the sadness in Raginis voice. The nurse tried telling her that she was to weak to breastfeed them now.
R - nachiket tell her not to take them away
N - ok. Calm down.
He asked the nurse to pull the curtain and wait on the otherside. He would help Ragini feed the kids.
N - ok so just hold my daughter tight. I am freeing my right hand. Rest her on your lap
R - what do you mean by your daughter. They are both mine. I went through nine months of hell
N - ok. Ok. Sorry wifey.
Nachiket freed his hand. Nishi was resting in her lap. He opened the front buttons of her gown.
N - ok. So mammas boy. Your turn first.
R - nachiket.
N - arre he is 3 minutes older.
They both smiled. Nachiket took raginis left breast towards Ranbir. Ranbir sighed a bit but began feeding immediately.
R - look he is smiling.
N - finish with him. Then you feed Nishi. Look at Nishi. She is so calm. Just like her daddy
R - your totally smitten by her naa
N - yes. And thanks for both these angels
R - thanks for marrying me. Our arrangement produced two beautiful children
N - see i have all the good ideas. Everything i do is perfect
R - i love you
N - love you too
Nishi cried a bit. Ranbir let go of his mommy.
R - my son is so sensitive already.
N - what my son? Our son remember.
R - our kids
Nachiket burped ranbir and put him to sleep in his crib by the time nishi was fed. He put her to sleep in the crib as well. Next he saw to it that Ragini ate and rested. He strictly ordered no visitors apart from maa for the first day. Everyone was happy to see Nachikets over protective side. He stayed in the hospital with Ragini for the entire 10 days of her stay. Only going home to shower and return.
