"What reward? Ragini asked cautiously.
"I get my good night's sleep back."
"Matlab?" Ragini asked, not understanding what he meant by good night's sleep.
"Matlab, I get to sleep on the bed, in my vest, with lights switched off." He smiled as if he had uncovered life's biggest mystery.
"Excuse me?" Ragini asked in disbelief.
"C'mon Ragini. And you can remove that hideous overcoat of your nightie too. I know you don't like too many clothes in bed either." He tried to reason.
"Do you have any idea of what you're saying?"
"Ok! Lets talk like adults." He pulls her down on the chair.
"Shall we now?" Ragini couldn't believe her ears. 'Had Nachiket lost his mind?' She thought. No sooner did she think that, an image of Nachiket sleeping beside her on the bed with his bare shoulders, flashed in her mind and a warmth spread over her whole body.
"See, I get cranky if I don't get my sleep," he said to which Ragini smiled, "And I'll get a good night's sleep only on the bed without the restrictions of a night shirt," 'And you by my side,' he added to himself.
"But Nachiket.."
"But what Ragini? And I know you feel exhausted the next day if you don't sleep well. So, lose that over coat thing. I know you hate it as much as I do." Ragini raised her eyebrows to his last words. Nachiket smiled sheepishly in return.
Ragini thought about what Nachiket had proposed. He was right. She hadn't been able to sleep properly ever since they re-married because of the extra layer of clothing. Nachiket wondered if he had gone too far when Ragini didn't speak for a few moments.
"All right," Ragini saw relief spread over Nachiket's face. "But I have one condition"
Now this is not something Nachiket wanted. His face fell instantly. Ragini laughed and continued, "If we are bringing back our old habits, I want to bring back one more," Ragini said to Nachiket's increasing curiosity. "I want you to read me poetry before we sleep"
