Ragini gave him what worked best - her silent treatment. Wordlessly yet defiantly, she continued making the bed. This time, she was determined not to fall for his bait and get into another argument that would take them nowhere. From the corner of her eyes, she saw him get up from the bed slowly and walk towards her. She pretended to not see him..Suddenly, he held her plastered hand gently and scratched off both surnames, hiding them behind a design he drew all around her name. She was disappointed and she could tell that he was too.. letting the marker hover over the plaster for some time, he looked at her and smiled a sad smile.Problem solved?, he asked, as his other hand cradled her elbow and supported her arm..and then he walked away and asked Sunny tai to make breakfast and let Ragini rest..
''Baatein karna yoh koi tumse seekhe.'' Ragini smiled at him. ''Kyun, tumhe lagta hai ke mein jhoot bol raha hoon?'' Nachiket sounded rather serious.''Hmm, jhoot toh nahin...lekin yeh khaali 'Ragini' achhi nahin lagti hai.'' She made a face and shook her head in negative. He looked a bit confused not understanding what she meant.''Mujhe laga ke tumhe phool pasand hai?''''Pasand toh hai, lekin kaanta bhi chahiye...kabhi kabhi.'' She said playfully, looking at his face.Nachiket finally got it. ''Accha...toh yeh baat hai. Chalo phir theek hai.'' He picked up the marker from the table and wrote 'Patel'.''Yeh kya hai?!'' Ragini asked in confusion. ''Kaanta.'' He said with a smirk on his face. ''Accha, toh ab mein khud ke liye kaanta ban gayi hoon?'' She was clearly irritated now.Nachiket chuckled at her behavior. She was still the same. ''When did I say tum apne aap ke liye kaanta ho?'' He crossed his arms against his chest. ''Toh phir yeh kya hai?'' She signaled with her eyes at the plaster. He let out a sigh and took a step closer. He brought his face closer to hers and whispered in her ear ''Yeh 'Patel' meri zindagi mein woh kaanta hai joh mein nahin chahta ke woh mujhse kabhi bhi door ho jaye...''His hot breath send a shiver down her spine and her cheeks turned crimson read. He took a step back and wanted to walk away when her voice stopped him. ''Aur woh kaanta joh mein...''''Jaanta hoon...'' He interrupted her and turned around. ''Tumhari zindagi mein kaanta woh 'Khanna' joh uss 'Patel' se jura hua hai...''

"Shit!" Ragini exclaimed. Nachiket raised his eye-brows questioningly. Ragini had a rule of not using swear words at home. And this rule was something he agreed with. "Oh come on! Kids are not home."
She took the chair nearest to her and sat. "I was going to start the Diwali cleaning today. I thought the kids would help."
"You still do that?
"What do you mean I still do that? Of course I do it. Everyone does it," she answered his question.
"Everyone has to do it because they don't keep their house clean like you do," Nachiket couldn't believe she didn't know this. "Just look around yourself. Its 9 am in the morning! People's house are a mess at this time. And this house is spotless!"
Ragini looked around. Nachiket was right.
"The house is Ragini clean. I think Ranbir had to do something about it." Nachiket said as he observed the place.
"He's my boy!" Ragini had a proud smile on her face as she looked at Nachiket.
"He was a nightmare in America. He never liked any house help because someone didn't fold his blankets in a particular way or his clothes were not kept at the right place or sometimes there was coffee cup stain on his table. He reminded me so much of you." The smile vanished from both the faces. Their eyes showed the disappointment, the guilt, the sadness and above all, their love for each other. Ragini didn't want to spend the day in sadness, she spoke first, "He was always like me! I think he bullied the others to clean too!" Ragini laughed. "Again, just like you!" He laughed back.
Ragini hit him playfully on the shoulder and went to the kitchen. Nachiket heard the noise of something falling. He rushed to the kitchen. Ragini watched the cleaning liquid's bottles fall to the ground as she tried to hold the cleaning cloth with her other hand.
"Kya kar rahi ho tum? Khud safai karogi?" Nachiket picked up everything from the floor and kept it on the kitchen shelf.
Ragini had a mischievous look on her face, "Nahi. Main nahi karungi. Tum karoge."
''Mein?!'' He asked with disbelief. ''Haan tum. Kyun, mere liye itna bhi nahin karoge?'' Ragini said in the most innocent and sweet way and looked at him with big puppy eyes. This was something Nachiket could not take; she always knew how to make him do things. And especially now with her plaster, he even felt more bad for her because he knew how important these festivals are for her. ''Accha, okay fine.'' He let out a sigh. ''Lekin, mera ek shart hai...''Now this is something she didn't expect. She was happy that he had agreed but what on earth was his condition. ''You know what, rehne do. Mein khud karloongi.'' She turned around to gather all the stuff together, but he held her by the upper arm and made her turn back. ''Tum nahin suna chahti hoon ke mera shart kya hai?'' Ragin tried to free herself but he didn't let her go. ''Nahin.'' She said firmly. ''Why so serious Ragini.'' His lips forming a smile. ''You never know it might be for your own good...'' He tried to convince her. Ragini's mind told her that his condition would never be for her good but still her heart wanted to know what it was. And before she could make a decision she already herself saying to him to tell her about his condition.''Yeh huyi nah baat...'' The arrogance in his voice and the smirk on his face made Ragini hate herself at that moment. ''After all this...I want a reward...''
