He came crashing down on her and he heard a sickening snap of a bone and he closed his eyes relfexively.. even before he had ascertained it, he knew it was bad... he had no courage to see what it was.. but his heart was pumping as fast as it could antcipating the worst.. his eyes flew open because of the fear of the two people he loved being hurt.. Ranbir stood on his feet and dusted some soil off his shirt and checked his bruised arm.. and then Nachiket heard another shriek..

Nac... aaah!

His heart sank.

He ran over to her faster than he knew he could.. and saw her writing in pain as she moved over to her other side, trying to take the weight of her body away from the affected hand.. the swelling was instantaneous.. this was not going to be an ordinary hairline fracture..

To his surprise, even Ranbir was now panicking as he noticed the sure shot sign of a fracture and looked back at him wide-eyed before asking RK to reverse the car and get it here as soon as possible.. Nachiket kneeled down and tried to touch her hand but she withdrew it, tears flooding her eyes..

Don't move your hand, Ragini.. he said, barely able to keep his voice calm knowing how much pain she was in..

She looked back at him in a way that made him feel guilty for some reason.. why was he not paying attention? He mentally whacked himself as he tried to prod her arm with his fingers as lightly as he could.. Ragini held back violent sobs.. he had never seen her like this.. this pain had to be overwhelming.. she was having trouble being still with all the pain.. he quickly sat down next to her and asked her to lean against his chest with the other side asking her to hold her broken arm folded close to her chest..

Nachiket.. everything's turning yellow.. it's too bright..

Nachiket took a deep breath as he cradled her head and wished Ranbir would bring around the car faster.. it was not called blinding pain without a reason.. a lot of people with unimaginable pain found it difficult to focus on anything.. their vision turning too bright.. too uncomfortable.. she was breathing shallow now.. and he was just worried sick anticipating her pain..

Ragini was now breathing through her mouth, another classic sign of too much pain.. he winced in response.. this was too much for him to take.. he wish he could end her pain instantly.. what was happening with them?!

Thankfully, he heard a car back up and put his arms gently around Ragini and tried to pull her in his arms but she cried out in pain because of the jerk to her hand..

His heart constricted as he heard that word.. he winced again and his eyes narrowed.. as if he was the one hurt.. but he was..

I'm sorry Ragini, I have to do this..

Saying so, he swooped her up into his arms in one grand stroke and tears started streaming down her face.. she was not so verbal about her pain now but she could no longer hold back her tears as she grabbed him around his neck as tight as he could.. her anxiety and pain meant she was digging into the back of his neck causing him excruciating pain in the process, but he pursed his lips and rushed to the car ..gently placing her on the seat while he went over to the other side, sitting besides her and and pulling her to rest against his chest... his right hand cradling her elbow, helping her hold up the right hand without much pain. she winced whenever they hit a pothole and he found himself shouting at Ranbir to be careful.. and instantly feeling bad about it..

Ragini seemed like she was going to black out due to the pain.. despite everything, he found himself pressing his lips to her forehead.. wishing it would do something.. hoping against hope.. and she responded by burrowing in more into his kurta.. her tears now flowing down and staining his kurta..
