"Nachiket, mein tayar ho gayi hoon. Hurry up, otherwise we will be late!"
Nachiket caught a glimpse of his beautiful wife in the hand mirror he was using to fix his hair. She was looking ravishing, her long, straight hair cascading down her shoulders and ending in the slightest curls. Her eyes were accented with a beautiful blue, complementing her dark, luscious eyes. She had put in contacts today, he noticed, fitting for the occasion; after all, it was Karan and Dimpy's anniversary party. Her soft cheeks were brushed with a faint pink blush, although these cheeks were now the color of tomatoes as Ragini noticed him staring at her in the mirror.
"Kya kar rahe ho, Nachiket?! Chalo abhi!" Ragini said, blushing furiously and smiling wide as she briefly averted her eyes from his gaze.
Nachiket stood up from the side of the bed and turned to face his beautiful bride. She was wearing a blue sari--wait, this wasn't any old sari. This was his sari, the one he had gifted her just before their first...
"Aise kya dekh rahe ho? Hum log chale ya Karan aur Dimpy ke anniversary pe late ponchoge?"
"Voh bas tum...you look stunning Ragini..." Nachiket mumbled, at a loss for words.
"Aacha?" she said, raising an eyebrow. "Tumhe kaise pata?" she said coyly, climbing her fingers up the doorway and inviting him closer with her big brown eyes.
Nachiket narrowed his eyes and gave her a sexy smolder as he walked toward her and slid his arm around her waist, pulling her close to him. He felt her take a sharp breath and smile as he did so, making him feel proud, not only of his wife but of the effect he had on her. He could smell her perfume, the classic Ragini scent that had been driving him wild for the past 4 years. He buried his face in her hair as he held up the mirror for her to see.
"Tum hi dekho. Aaj bahut sexy lag rahe ho Mrs. Nachiket Khanna" he whispered in her ear. They locked eyes in the mirror for a second and he winked at her. Ragini's cheeks flushed crimson red. He always had this effect on her; no one else could make her feel so beautiful, so special...
Just then, Nachiket felt a push on his leg. He lurched forward, pulling Ragini with him. His left hand reached instinctively for the doorframe beside him. Nachiket caught himself and pulled Ragini even closer to his body, sighing as her dainty hand grabbed onto his shirt, right where his heart was. Perfect, he thought to himself.
Until he heard the sound of breaking glass. He had forgotten about the mirror when he had grabbed the door, and now it was on the floor in pieces.
"NISHI!" Ragini pulled away from Nachiket and looked at their young daughter, running behind her older brother in a purple and white dress. Ragini sighed as she bent down and began to pick up the broken shards of glass.
Nachiket bent down beside her. "Chodo na Ragini, kuch nahi hua. Ek chota sa mirror hi toh tha, kyu Nishi pe chila rahe ho?"
Through the shards on the floor he could see tears forming in her eyes. "Ek chota sa mirror nahi hai Nachiket. Do you know what this means? Seven years of bad luck!" Ragini cried, dejected.
Nachiket cupped her face in his large hands and turned her face towards his, pulling her attention away from the glass. He stared into her eyes and wiped her tears with his thumbs. "Those are just superstitions. Nothing bad ever happens. Agar aisa hota, toh koi mirror he nahi bhej tha!" he joked, trying to lighten her mood. "Aur tab tum apni iss beautiful chehra ko kaise dekh pati?" he said with a smile.
Ragini looked up and saw her reflection in his eyes. He was right, she looked beautiful today. Her heart warmed and her face glowed as she saw his love for her, making her feel like a goddess.
"Mein hoon na, I promise I will never let anything bad happen to our family. For the next seven years and beyond." Nachiket said, bringing her head to his chest and wrapping his strong arms around her protectively.
Perfect, she thought. Ragini smiled, thanking her stars for making her meet and marry this wonderful man.
Just then, Nachiket's phone rang. The face of a gorgeous woman with long dark hair flashed on the screen.
Rupali.
