Edit 3 (1st Oct' 20) : Victory for Writers

Even after the forum closure had been canceled, the status of FFs continuing on our forum had been under threat. We were unsure whether it would be necessary to move them to the new FF section or they could be continued here like usual. Finally this issue has been resolved too.

I had asked one of the Mods to clarify our doubts regarding FFs continuing on the IPK forum and here's the response received -

I have checked with the fan fiction DT and its not compulsory to move as of now. Its better to move as it will get more viewers and proper cover page etc. smiley9

Basically, they think it is better if we move our FFs to the new FF section but it is NOT COMPULSORY. So it is upto the writer whether to wish to continue in this forum or move their stories there. For moving the stories, there is a stickied thread by Koeli that clarifies things and you have to PM her to help you out with the actual moving. For those who don't wish to move, you can continue in the forum without any worries. 😃

I hope this clears all confusion for the writers and also for their reader base. ⭐️

Please Read this Post and the Next ones very Carefully.

Hello!

As most of you are already aware, the news of IPKKND forum going to be permanently closed had shaken us from our slumber. I use the word slumber because that is what the forum has been representing for the admins - a sleepy inactive place. The news shook us awake and made us scramble around as we tried to protect the forum that has become our virtual home.

We had more than 200 votes in less than 2 days... everyone wanting to pitch in to keep this forum alive. There were many emotional comments ranging from sorrow, despair and hopelessness to anger, frustration and determination as we wondered what to do further.

Some of us had been messaging the moderators and admins to ask them why this was happening, showing them our poll results and threads, trying to ask them to reconsider their decision.

And we have received Some Success.

The admin has kindly granted us a review period where we can increase our activity and if they find it suitable, they will let the forum remain open.

Before you rejoice, let me remind you that this is only a Partial Victory. It is a review period and not a complete reversal of the closure decision. They are willing to reconsider ONLY if we give them enough reason to reconsider things.

So yes, we can celebrate this success but let's do it in a way that helps us get Complete Victory without this sword hanging on our heads.

Let's celebrate by making good posts (apart from FFs), commenting on various threads, liking posts and overall being active on the forum.

In the next post, I'm expanding on what defines good posts and activities that will help us in our mission #SaveIPKforum.

Before going further, I would like to say that this wouldn't have been possible without you all. It is only upon seeing the collective will of so many people that this chance has been given to us. Let's grab this opportunity with both hands and continue being as active and concerned for the forum as we had been in the past two days.

A special thanks to Mysticaldivine, Sarunrabbave and Savera84 for messaging and coordinating details with the moderators and admins. There are many others I would like to thank for spreading the message and helping out but it will become too much of a long list so will not get into that.

And lastly, Thank you to all of you for your prompt response and help. Please keep on supporting - as we require everyone to be around and active.

Bookmark this thread as I'll keep on editing the main post whenever we get any response from the moderators or admins. I'll edit the title as well so you can check in accordingly and know the status of our forum.

----------------

Edit 1 (14th Sept' 20) : The notice regarding IPKKND forum closure has been removed from sticky topics. Let's take this as a positive symbol and continue our efforts. 🥳

Edit 2 (17th Sept' 20) : Our forum is NOT going to be closed!!

I'm putting up excerpts of my conversation with the DT so that we can have complete clarity on some points.

1. I had asked whether the extension / review period was only for a specific time and if they had a deadline in mind. The response -

No we have not decided any specific timeframe. As of now we are not planning the closure of IPKKND

2. I said we should have been given a warning before the sudden notice of closure which caused a lot of despair and heartbreak among us. The response -

I apologise for the sudden notice of closure. We completely understand your attachment with your forum and this is exactly why we decided to not close the section. We had thought of closure because there were only FFs. Generally most of the forums are closed once the activity died down. Please do not worry, there is no plan of closing the forum as of now.

I think this signifies that for now, we have WON! Our Determination and Teamwork has brought us Complete Victory! smiley40

But there is one more point that It'll mention so that we can avoid such a scenario in future. Since we know that our forum isn't exactly inactive (the prob is more FFs and less other stuff). So I decided to ask and understand this completely too.

3. I asked what is activity and how it is being measured. The response -

FFs are the only posts in IPKKND as of now, but even if there are 1-2 threads discussing the show etc, it will be considered as forum activity.

Forum activity is basically discussion threads. It doesn't count CG, picture gallery etc.

To simplify this - the threads related to FFs or sharing VMs or edits are not being considered for this. Only threads that discuss the show and episodes are counted. We have had a few of these threads recently and we have also started with the episode analysis threads so we should be good to go for now. But please remember that this needs to maintained in future too. Don't Completely Stop because things are fine now.

So yea... that's all for now.

Annnddd its Celebration Time! smiley40smiley41

This news couldn't have come at a better time because I just started the thread for Arshi Remarriage Anniversary. So please join in there and let's celebrate both the occasions together. smiley4

OUTLINE PLAN FOR THE NEXT STEP :

1. More Creative Content

Problem : To those who had been questioning why such an active forum like ours was being shut, here is the issue - our activity is more or less restricted to FFs.

Writing and/or reading and commenting on FFs; asking about forgotten FF names; asking about lost writers or any such activity that revolves around Fan fictions will not be considered valid activity for our purpose. The reason is that all this can be done on the FF forum as well so it makes no sense to keep a separate IPKKND forum if we are only going to have such topics.

Solution : Have more creative topics, especially ones revolving around the actual serial and its characters.

Here are some suggestions - Dialogs, scenes, character analysis, who went wrong - where and why, body doubles, same background actor playing 2-3 different roles, off screen video segments (SBS and all), just about anything that comes to your mind when thinking about IPK or when re-watching it.

It can also revolve around your original thoughts when the show was on-air to how your views have changed over time, things you caught while re-watching.

An important category of topics is making visual content - Edits, GIFs, Memes, VMs. We will require our content creators to be active now and put in some effort in all this if you can. You can repost your old VMs and Edits if they have been taken down from YouTube or other sources earlier.

Posts about the actors should be restricted to their publically available images and information without going too much into depth over their behavior, conduct, decisions, alleged relationships, chemistry with other co-stars (apart from IPK-1) or anything else that might spark a debate. Yes we want more activity but not at the cost of forum wars as we have seen in the past. Do some self monitoring and don't put out content that could spark such fan wars.

Nostalgia posts about the forum - fights over silly issues, people whose posts, VMs or Spoilers we used to wait for, etc. are also good but let's try to be more creative or analytical while posting.

And by saying that FF discussions are not valid, I'm not trying to discourage such posts. You are welcome to continue that ALONG WITH the above mentioned categories.

2. Discussion (Response)

Problem : When Creative content is posted, the response is lukewarm.

Content creators cannot work alone and do everything single handedly. Mysticaldivine very rightly stated that this is not a one man job, it will require unanimous effort.

Being a silent reader earlier, I had usually restricted myself to pressing likes on the posts that I agreed to and barely ever commenting. Today I'm seeing the result of that. Let's not make the same mistakes again.

Solution : Take an active part in discussions. Just pressing a yes in a poll will not save our forum if we don't correct our attitude going further.

I'm not forcing anyone to comment but if you are taking the time to read something, try to take some time to leave behind a trace of yours too. A short comment or even a like if you aren't willing to or don't have the time for more.

For posts by Content creators : Please like and comment. Language is not an issue, I know some members remain silent because they think that they won't be able to draft good messages. It doesn't matter, you are not a writer - you don't have to think about framing great sentences. When you are reading / viewing someone's work, you can show your appreciation in the least. I don't think any content creator would say that they don't want badly phrased comments. As a writer myself, I welcome all kinds of comments - even the ones that critique my work. So if this is stopping you, please don't hesitate to comment. You can also write your comments using Hindi words (after all we are talking about a Hindi show here). If someone is having an issue understanding, there are many of us who would be willing to translate such Hindi comments for them. But don't let a simple language barrier stop you from communicating.

For Analytical posts : Discussions and Healthy Debates are the way to go! We want everyone to state their opinion and their views in their own words and not just be an echo of someone else. If you don't agree to someone's PoV, say so! It's completely alright to have different opinions on the same thing. Only thing to be remembered is to be respectful towards each other. State your PoV and attempt to understand the opposing view too. If you cannot come to an agreement, just end the debate peacefully. Other members can take part too but not by making teams and starting ugly fights. Let's keep things peaceful and non-controversial as they have been in the past few years.

I truly hope with this guideline in mind, we will able to convince the admins completely and have our forum open Hamesha (forever)!

And not just that, we will be having a forum far better and more active than in the past days - I'm sure that would be a cause of joy in itself. I've been hearing old writers and members returning in this lockdown and saying that the forum is so inactive these days and eventually leaving. Let's make it a place that would be hard to leave, a place where we ourselves will want to spend more time in!

You can comment and tell me anything that I may have forgotten to mention or other ideas and suggestions that you have. I'll edit and add things accordingly. 😳

Regular Activities on Forum

As can be seen from the removal of the forum closure notice, the deadline has surely been extended if not completely removed. Keeping this in mind, we are aiming for long term activities that follow some regular schedule. Here is a list of the regularly timed activities that have / will commence on our forum soon -

1. Episode written update + analysis and commentary on side characters - here |ssttuuttii|

2. Arnav's character analysis (Episode wise) - here |Savera84|

3. Khushi's character analysis (Episode wise) - here|renee.bee|

All three of these will move in tandem. The same episode will be covered in three different ways. Everyone is welcome to join in the discussion they find interesting and put up their own analysis for the episode or character.

4. A weekly fun activity (can be games, polls, quizzes, competitions, anniversary of special occasions, etc) For further information, please check this Link

Also, we want volunteers to coordinate things on various other platforms. We are planning to have a combined celebration on all different mediums for the 10th Anniversary Occasion coming up next year. But before that, we have to start building a base from now where we have dedicated pages running and being followed by the IPK fans to inform them of the activities going on here. This will make people visit the forum and take part in things and also help in managing things for the anniversary occasion later on. With this in mind, volunteers are needed for

  • Wattpad
  • Wordpress
  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Twitter

If there are existing community / fan pages on these sites and the respective admins are willing to coordinate with us, that is more than welcome. If not, we will make new pages.

Please comment in the thread if you are interested in volunteering for any of the positions mentioned.

Also drop in suggestions and ideas for other activities that can be done.

Please note we are not allowed to post external Blog links on IF.

Please find the rule in this Link

Name of the story and author's name will help finding the story on internet.

Cheers......

Stuti. smiley32Well done!

We are all in it together. smiley31

Now as this is a partial success but at least we have some hope to carry on. Now it is the time for some actions and that can't be done by one only or by a few. It is a unanimous effort.

Please active, silent, and all members, show the support and interest in IPK style. Our show is almost reaching 10 years. Take that as initiative and create posts to celebrate that landmark.

#We can do it.
