CHAPTER DEDICATED TO : Doc-ere for your continuous support, being a regular reader and very sweetly wishing me a happy holi in your last comment ❤️
NOTE : I'll be doing chapter dedications like this in every chapter from now on. There are so many people who have liked this story from the start and this is just my way of saying thank you. If you're a regular reader, know that I appreciate you and the next chapter is probably dedicated to you.
Lastly, I love the curiosity that you all are having and I promise in the next couple of chapters, you'll know everything.
CHAPTER 3
Khushi felt like she was in a movie. It just seemed too perfect - the view from the balcony, the moonlit sky, the light breeze caressing her face and the arms of the hottest guy she knew circled around her wait as their lips were merely an inch away.
Khushi knew this was bad. She was meeting him properly after 17 years and she vividly remembered the emotional wreck she'd been the last time she had been around Arnav. That moment was one that she wanted to erase from her memory forever but she couldn't get rid of it.
When she looked at Arnav, it seemed as if he was lost in the moment. His eyes were cast downwards towards her lips and fully realising where they were headed, Khushi closed her eyes anticipating his soft touch.
"Arnav? Khushi? Did you two fall asleep?! Where the hell are you?!"
That was it- the end to Khushi's romantic movie. Both of them snapped their eyes open and Arnav loosened his grip on Khushi.
"We umm... should go downstairs." It took all the effort in the world for Khushi to move her face away from him and say that sentence. Her heavy breathing only made it harder.
"Yeah..." Arnav finally let go of Khushi's waist and Khushi turned away from him as she walked away from him, briskly. From the corner of her eye, Khushi saw him smile to himself but she forced herself not to smile because the voice in her head constantly screamed at her, asking her to not get attached to Arnav Singh Raizada again.
The rest of the night went by quickly for the most part. Arnav kept looking at Khushi as Khushi refused to make eye contact and Payal kept nudging Khushi to tell her what had happened.
As the Raizadas prepared to leave and Khushi wished everyone a good night, Arnav came right in front of her. She was trying to avoid him by deliberately greeting everybody else and keeping herself busy but Arnav leapt in the moment she came to the side.
Khushi tried to force all of the thoughts about their moment on the balcony away. Deciding to go with her perky approach, she faked a smile.
"Goodnight, Arnav. Nice meeting you. Bye!"
To her surprise, Arnav gave her a light hug. His arms made their way to her back and she nervously reciprocated by resting her arms by his torso.
"It was nice meeting you too. Too bad we didn't get enough time to talk because I wanted to talk to you about that little crush that you had on me when we were young." Arnav said low enough so that only she would hear.
And boy, she did. Her eyes went wide and she almost froze as Arnav retreated from the hug and waved a goodbye.
How the hell did he know?!
"Come on, Khushi. Tell me what happened!" Payal asked her for the hundredth time.
But Khushi's thoughts were stuck on what Arnav had said last. What also bothered her was the fact that he said it so calmly, like it meant nothing. If he had teased, she could tell he was being playful. But his tone was so blank, she couldn't judge anything.
"Di, just please let me sleep. Nothing happened, we just talked and then Maa called us downstairs. That's it." Khushi lied down on her bed closing her eyes hoping that her sister would stop asking her about their little rendezvous.
"Did you discuss about the crush you had on him?"
As much as it shocked her that her sister knew too she decided to keep her eyes closed because she didn't have the energy to have that conversation. On top of all this, she had to save her energy for her first day at work that was due the next day.
Payal stopped with inquisitive questions when she realised that Khushi was in the mood to sleep. Khushi thanked the lords in heaven that her sister had finally stopped. She turned in her sleep to the side that faced the window.
She opened her eyes for a second and saw light coming out from the window of the house across theirs. Her curiosity took over and she tried to see what was happening. The lane separating the two houses wasn't that wide and the window was fairly big which made it much easier to see. Because the windows in the Raizada's house were sliders almost acting as doors to the balcony, she made it a note in her head to always shut her curtains. If she could easily see across to their house, so could they.
It seemed as if there was nobody in the room. The room itself was big and reeked of the mundane modern designs that were dull with black and white interiors. It seemed more like a corporate space and less like a bedroom. It occurred to her that it was probably Arnav's room and her doubt was quickly confirmed as Arnav walked in.
But not the way she was expecting.
He walked in shirtless, with a pair of tracks and messy hair. It was different than how she had seen him earlier and she obviously like it better. She didn't think he could get any hotter when she saw him in the evening and clearly, she was wrong.
He was speaking to somebody on the phone and it seemed like it was important. Khushi continued to observe even though she felt a little guilty of peeking into somebody else's room like that.
In the middle of her train of thoughts, she realised that he was turning in her direction. Her reflexes went on full force as she shut her eyes immediately.
Damn you, Arnav Signh Raizada. You're back to ruin my peace of mind and most importantly, my heart again.
My board exams are going on right now so I'm sorry for the delay in updates. Do like and share your thoughts! Also, add me to your Buddy List for PMs about updates. Thanks for reading!
