Oh, I almost forgot, before the terrace I am sure he would trust his sister's judgment.. who would go and investigate into a marriage when his sister is more than happy with that man.. that too he is total NON interfering ..

Haha really how intresting these discussions get.. I completely agree.. I jsut meant that knowing what a high bar he sets for himself he must be the one reapproaching himself thinking he did some sort of galat.. I was very badly against him falling to his knees begging for forgiveness from khushi. I don't understand why he would need to that. And so the fun track the few days post kidnapping I really liked. not mopey but completely ASRlike..

And yes missed so much of the intial IPK later on..

Gulab and Kanta or Kanta and Gulab?

Hard to tell...for both are both...to each other. They are sharp, they can prick. They are tender and can soothe...they are sensual, they are fragrant...both eager to safeguard, to shield the other.
And one cannot be without the other...

Magical to be here as usual.

Reminded so much of a girl in school, a crazy romantic when the rest of us had no clue, and her love for "The Thorn Birds"... All the memories from that desk she occupied, right near mine, have come storming back! Here's to you, my friend, wherever you are!

And to my own passion for Edith Piaf and her signature song "La Vie en Rose" (Life in Rosy Hues)...Piaf gets me in a state always and always.

I gave up on Khushi long time ago by then.. it started with those silly antics post that temple marriage..and surely drowned the day she brought shyam back WITHOUT ever having a word with ANYONE!! Who suffered THE most becos of Shyam? it was HIM.. and he was very much there when anjali married him.. so who goes through the guilty, pain, .. remember he went through the hate marriage too.. not just khushi.. and he went through a kidnap too to top it...and then the business tycoon with every thing at the tip of his finger would this leave this man to a stage drama played by his silly/ dramatic wife?? I have NO clue back then how the dynamics of daily soaps work.. but just didn't like him being pushed to the corners in the whole deal.. not becos I wanted to see this hot looking guy on my screen.. but asr as a man suffered enormous becos of his low lying jeejaji..

So the day khushi took the family to that movie .. it was al most all done for me.. nothing left to see. but then why it was so painful to deal with when it all came to a real end.. may be another time...

exactly. and thsi is a man who just a while back was ready to burn her husbnd to death and had left her trussed up in the middle of the road hoping to kill her off too. so khushi is totally brain and feelings less is teh only way anyone, anyone could have written this. again, she was just used because they couldn't find a good way to bring the so called arch enemy back.

there is a tremendous character growth..

he kept evolving, and allowing what was bottled up within to release too. and even when they started to strip him of essentials, the actor managed, in my opinion, to keep the core of asr alive. but khushi, who had been messed up straight after the temple wedding, (because of what some day i would really like to know...) and then that suicide bid... to bring her back to khushi would need much more subtlety and imagination, also craft. just tonnes of "intense" scenes over kidnap won't do the trick. post kidnap too... um why is it not okay for khushi to say she is mad at her man for being utterly mean to her after his sis tries to kill herself? where is that girl who was hitting and shoving him in that guest house, the night she thought she would die, when she was scared and logical beyond belief? she just vanished into the kalapani prison reserved for achhi bahu, when you enter, leave all your soul, your individuality, your desire, your credibility behind.

brilliant observation... i just so could not take the smarmy nonsense going on those days... in devi reincarnation and as "saviour" we now need khushi ji at the helm of affairs, while the man who handles business worth millions is relegated to "cute" scenes where he does her bidding.

okay my, i will not watch this no matter what scene, and i don't care how "cuuute" barun looks (well i really didn't think he looked cute at all there) was jalebi frying. gah. his birthday. she is wrecking it. then he says sorry... and off to a frenzy of flour dusted bheja frying. i wish they asked any one of us for abetter idea... i am sure we;d have done better.

teh other point where i wanted to kill people was when they showed him entering a mandir and doing sweet things because his wife expected it. oh my beautiful man went to the mandir when he needed to... to show respect to his devout mother... to feel her presence in little acts of charity... the pigeons... he went alone to mandir. he also went with his di and stood attending, but he never played games, didn't fold his hands and turn to see how someone would react. he is an atheist who has more god than many theists.

i must say, in this regard, there was a feeble attempt to show growth in khushi... her telling bua ji not to force asr to believe in things he didn't believe in. but it was a very lip service sort of attempt.

she was never shown to admire anything in him... while he was overtly proud of her. why? so that female audiences could feel superior? i haven't the foggiest but it sucked.

and er what was that movie thing?

straight after all that drama of the shyama?

and di went too?

and asr not only agreed but did "cute" things in the theatre while she remained oblivious to him... thank god that black shirt with oh shirtsleeves scene came before that... otherwise i would have gone to the temple and done mannat to save my boy and me.

you know the man... man in all caps... was never "cute". never sweeet. essential not asr those words. he was ugh handsome, oph arrogant, hai re devil, can't concentrate sexy, can't breathe complex, dhakdhak gorgeous... and if he had those aww moments they worked only when they were true to him... and actually he was hot damn cute without ever even trying to be that.

and what a deadly truth.

yes, he is rose and she is thorn too. they are both rose and thorn to each other, of each other. they are shore and sea both. they are pearl and diver both. take any idea that ponders duality, they are both this one and that one too. yin yang, dragon and phoenix, radha krishna, dark light, life death... everything melds and becomes one in that feeling they feel... and separation ends.

oh and if this is the translation of la vie en rose.. a song much heard, never quite understood... then surely it was written for asr and khushi. from dhadkane to hamesha, to low voice love making, and troubles going away, and it being so all because of him... because of her. life in rosy hues... thanks for this beauty of a post. the graphics are beautiful.
