that in pink was the thing. the whole world is yelling clear mu, because that si what the whole world is used to while viewing anything... three hour shows in which all is explained, cleared, neatly wrapped up and the happily meets ever and after and retires for a beer till the next round. but here... on and on it went... as it happens in reality... and as though there was a hitchcock thing to it all, back in college read of his red herring, the mcguffin... in the end it didn't really matter whether she had or hadn't... he loved her anyway and she loved him anyway... that felt so real... this emotion has something compulsive in it... is that the word i am looking for? even when one is "right" in a battle with the other one, after a point, one has to, must abs give in and pull the other one into ones arms... baat is not about right wrong good bad... baat toh kuch aur hi hai... baat aap ki hai.
unlike a tight sealed movie script, a serial evolves, especially in india, where it changes almost week to week i believe depending on trp and stuff, i have no idea how and why that misunderstanding got told the way it did... but it was curiously satisfying the way it was done.
the fights, the looks, the feelings, the crazy sexual tension... only in real life. it was so not cosmetic, not prettified, not screen friendly. it was what happens in a bedroom... when no one is looking. i love that bedroom of theirs and how they take that space.
ah, all the things that are never said but you hear them murmuring everywhere. it's a relationship dammit.

Oh we had red herring after another and all truly leading nowhere in most cases. Other provided a well laid out backdrop but it was always two characters that made me want to come back again and again. that something between them that required me to be present each time they took one step closer or away from resolution.
Was it Amitabh Bachan who said in a movie "hum jaha khade hote hai line wahi se shuru hoti hai?" ASR had this persona where he took over any space he was present in. Commanded it to become his place of existence. The RM hall, kitchen everything would get a different feel when he stood there. He radiated energy even when he entered the house after an extremely trying tiring day.
abs right, and it's interesting you mention amitabh bachchan, i get reminded of the young amitabh and his completely different intensity from time to time, though i was not a fan. he seemed to bring a level of "realness", swarthy and unmade up to the screen. something almost no one had brought to it i used to think, not quite sure whether i was supposed to like it or not, teehee. of course, here the intensity is of a completely different nature and impact. surprised me no end that this not too tall, quite slight guy could take over a space like that. and he didn't even have a deep sonorous voice. he walked in and everything belonged to him, even if all he was doing was standing and sticking out his arm for a rakhi. and i also wondered about the blend of softer, more tender expressions along with the more hot arrogant angry ones, that he didn't fear the former would come in the way of creating this massive character. of course, direction counted and much, but how did he get that exactly right sweetness that would not dilute the extreme unsweetness of asr. from the ramp at sheeshmahal, episode 1 it started. the moment he saw di, the look on the face went softer, younger. yet he was always in command. And just like the atmosphere changed when he was present in any frame, when both Khushi and Arnav were together there was always a sense of intimacy. Hundreds of people milling around but these two would have eyes for each other. Perhaps not even meet but the breeze would carry over the mehsoos. Just their private cocoon where nothing else but two people in love stood and faced each other. For me they always stood alone, together, apart from all others. A husband and wife in their bedroom. No endearments, just a simple "Khushi" and it carried a sense of trespassing in something private going on between them. And those rare times when they finally found themselves away from the world, it always led to something new. something exciting. unpredictable. Never discussing their relationship, where does it lead to. All that is for mere mortals.
this private world thing, again owes a lot to direction i am sure, but the actors understood and completely created it. even when acting with doubles, or talking to camera when no one else is around. it was particularly lovely when they thought of each other. yes, there were always flashbacks to help us, but even without them you could see they were getting lost in each other, and the one absent in teh frame came to mind so easily looking at just the one who was there... an unseen dhaga thing. and that "khsuhi", "kh" opening out and exploding a bit on an exhale, can any endearment be sweeter. it was as though his life depended on that name. Here what was left unsaid said it all. Dynamic, ever shifting, evolving yet consistent in one basic fact. That insane overwhelming response that each felt around the other. Where nothing else, no one else mattered or came remotely close to that intensity which would get fired har baar. No right or wrong in the way I treat you. No conventions to adhere to in the way I respond. You are mine and I don't need to mind my actions, words around you. I can't not speak from within, sugar coat it, ignore it. I have to lay bare my soul in front of you because that is what I want to give you. That is what you deserve. That is how i love.
