🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

asr's pant colour and its deeper joy. have i been missing you or have i...

okay, the way i saw it, he wore what a hot delhi boy wears when he dresses down but cool... white shirt, cotton or khadi or linen and blue jeans... yeah i thought they were midnight blue, not black.

and since that's aclassic look, of course he wore it. what is this all safed turn out a la jeetendra ji... esp in farz.

but if you seek deeper meaning... me confounded. i am too busy staring at the hotness to care. 😆 😆 how cute my holi boy, and he only tolerated red on himself... aur bhi significance. 😆

Lovely post Horizon! ASR is such a well written character. In a world of television where men specially don't seem to have backbones or anything that shows a real person and not just a goddy goody boy ASR is refreshing. He didn't let Khushi go from his arms even while dadi was staring but let her fall from his office top floor when he wanted to teach her a lesson. Never did he compromise on his point of view to be good unless he wanted to for some one else's is sake. And he had so much conviction, resourcefulness , perception and humour ..

I have recently been reading a few articles written by Gul and really liked them. She seems like a person who could create a character like ASR.
Aarwen, lovely take esp that in red.
Yes Gul is one talented lady. You might know she penned words for kyu dard hai itna rabba ve. Everyone, from the makers to the writers and ofcourse not the least, Barun played an indispensable and essential role in making ASR that he remained a master piece. ASR wouldn't have been possible without the efforts of any of these.

Interesting conversation going on about the enigma, Arnav Singh Raizada. A whole thesis can be written on his deep character.
Only Gul could create a character like him and partly Barun is also responsible for this appreciation. He didn't let go ASR till the very end.
Arnav got change just for Khushi but he was same ASR for outside world, arrogant , ruthless, smart and cunning businessman. I like his professional traits more than being a family man. He was perfect in them. He was still in need to be taught lessons of being a perfect father for father, husband, brother, nephew, grandson as each moment of life is itself a lesson but unfortunately serial ended. I would love him struggling through these roles. I give him 75% for compatibility and rest is space for improvement.
He was a man full of confidence and passion. He worked passionately, hated passionately, loved passionately. He never felt shamed to show his feeling to others whether it was flirting Khushi before his marriage, troubling her in his office , expressing his love to her in front of servant, spoking out for Khushi self respect in front of his grandmother, hating and avenging Shyam for destroying the life of two important women in his life.
Words for sentences in his praise may end but his characteristics will not.
Javeria, your simple yet stunning words enchant me. Your piece on his rain monologue on Indi's head still fresh on my mind. So you think he has a great room for improvement. Interesting.
Do write when ever you get a chance.
btw, love ur user name. it reminds of an exotic flower.

oh asr, and we talk again.

completely loving it... horizon, aarwen, javeria, this is such a huge character. i agree with every nuance you glean.

but please don't mind, will differ a bit from you, ladies. on the gul issue. yes, she thought of a bold, individualistic mills and boon hero and that was great, i am totally grateful. but this is the general trend of at least three of her heroes. rich, brusque, a little broken, hot. in waistcoat too.

grew up reading m and b, i know the type and love them... but they do not become shakespearean or greek in my heart and head... i don't compare them to othello and oedipus.

as for gul's other leading men, they do nothing for me.

my belief, the character had a graph... a bold and striking one, that was created between gul, ved raj, and lead writers... but then it grew nuanced, extremely and subtly, making him into a real character, one you would want to meet on the streets and be stunned by... this came from barun and the director who vibed with him. they really entered the character and brought out his gut and soul.

and barun, if you have watched baat, has a way of merging with his character. no distance. it made a not too well written shravan real and unforgettable, despite weird storyline.

it made asr epic.

i would like to see what some other actor might have done with asr. can't think of even one who would have done that dragging to the temple without having me angry and hating the character. barun manged to make me feel his pain, sometimes more than khushi's.

yes, gul is talented. and i am appreciate her insisting on asr as a character.

but the talent that stunned me was the actor's. especially when he rapped with his director.

it is not the most subtly written character, yet that feeling of it beyond just the words, that reaching into his inner spaces, that gave the character an extraordinary subtlety.

with hardly any words, an actor conveyed so much.

his whole body spoke, his every expression belonged to asr. even when he is mushy brother he is hot tycoon asr with a "dard" in him... even when he is patting a little girl's cheek or being kissed by her that hot asrness never leaves... walks into his home tired... asr... walks in angry, also asr, walks in lonely and missing someone, abs asr. pruning shrubs he's asr and of course at ar, he's all asr. nowhere does the character slip... in specific scenes, in casual scenes.

in baat he was easygoing sweet shravan, straight after that he was not sweet at all, rigid, inert asr. then asr evolving and letting go of his shell, while remaining himself

i have never seen anyone do this across a year and a half of continuous work with hardly any breaks. okay i have found a few places where he might have done a bit better... maybe 10 scenes out of 398 episodes. not bad, huh.

so to me, yes of course gul thought of asr, but who delivered asr to me was barun and his director. and barun as an actor... that he, untrained and so young, could delve so deep and give all that was asked of him and that he asked of himself... breathtaking.

personally, while writing fan fiction i know exactly how much i owe to barun and sanaya. whatever i write, the reader can picture perfectly because they can see asrand khushi, they know him and her so so precisely. and dare i say it... especially him.

when shyam said pity you can't hit the rewind but in in real life, asr reacted so instantly and with such a complex mix of remorse, hurt, anger... and a sense of a desert bereft in the air. i always marveled at how deep the feelings went how deftly he skirted melodrama.

Couldn't agree more 👏. Barun breathed life into ASR. He lived it and that is why each scene became memorable. We can write pages and pages on this because the actor and directors gave us so much to write about.. so much to notice.. and so much to appreciate.. What is also a striking contrast is how different barun's body language is from ASR.. But as soon as he was on screen never did he go wrong. Every expression, movement was just perfect.. In most serials when characters are thinking they just speak their lines out loud.. I had not noticed this till I saw how Barun would keep quite and his face would do the talking.. He did an absolutely wonderful job.. With so few lines and even when he did get to speak so few words he managed to tell us everything.. He was subtle but the impact was unforgettable..

I haven't read your fanfiction .. am jumping with excitement to go read it! Do you have an index?

EPISODE 206

Colors of the rainbow...happiness

Color can influence our emotions, our actions and how we respond to various people, things and ideas through these.Tody's epi is reflecting all the colors of emotions as spring is in the air.

Khushi sleeping under the stars , under her Amma ,Babuji's protection along with DM is talking in her sanka mode. "uthja khushi aaj holi hai... kitna kuchh karna hai," get up khushi today is holi... there's so much to do.she talks away and that wakes him up.

I loved her innocence and her attitude to find happiness in the small things and she always leaves a window of happiness here and there ,here comes Arnav's leaving window a bit down in the pag phere episode and today he is joining her in this happiness unintentionally. Arnav was inside sleeping but got up hearing Khushi's talking in her sleep. The door was not fully closed today ,loved that touch. He is touching the happiness which is peeping through the door and knocking his sleeping heart and he doesn't have a clue either. When Khushi decided the colors for everyone and the moment she said "yellow", his lips automatically had spread that smile all the way through his eyes to his soul.
"hamara rang hoga.. peela" [my color will be yellow].

Smile just intertwines him with the spell of smile on her lips which gives him peace...he melts seeing that smile after a long time.

"
holi hai!" she wakes up happily by forgetting all the sufferings and anguish. He tries to go back to sleep after releasing a very husky "paagal"..crazy hai but cute hai...is settling here.

Khushi is one of those who create happiness around em and today she created it around Arnav who just followed it totally being unaware of it.

The colors were chosen so wonderfully. For Amma 'Bauji, its green which signifies life, nature and peace as parents provide a natural peace within, for Buaji, it's Orange, a strong emotional color entangling with love and hate both with it. Then comes Payal, it's blue , which signifies calmness, trust, and loyality and she was wearing blue too. Khushi really knows her family in and out even in sleep. Here comes DM's red color. Red,a strong physical need basically associated with masculine energy. It signifies action and confidence and provides a sense of protection as n Sindoor. Then comes yellow, our Khushi's color, just like her it signifies optimism, just like her it spreads happiness and sparks creative thoughts.Black for Arnav, which gives protection from external emotional stress. It creates a barrier between itself and the outside world, providing comfort while protecting its emotions and feelings, and hiding its vulnerabilities, insecurities.

Love how CVs has defined all characters with these colors.

Arnav's shut up couldn't stop the childish Khushi who was rambling in her monlogues in the excitement of Holi.A curious Arnav wants to know who she's been talking to. Khushi answers rudely as she didn't like being interrupted, 'With Herself '...Arnav's annoyance changes into mild smile when Khushi informs him that she's been crazy since her childhood. The craziness that he is in love with but Poor guy's heart skipped a beat to know the selection of color she made for him.. "aap ke liye rang chunne mein bilkul bhi waqt nahin laga, aap ko pata hai kaunsa?... kala." [It took me time to choose a color for you, she teases, you know which, black.] Khushi runs away while telling him the color as she knows that it will enrage him.He jumps up from his bed to get his crazy wife. His feet stopped yet his desirous eyes couldn't stop from urge to hold her ...hold her so close as always...

Again it showed their understanding level in between em. A future sign too that Khushi's attraction is too compelling for him.

Anjali , who is just a pawn for Shyam did provide a valuable piece of information to heat up the obsession in her husband for Khushi that Naniji and her always wanted ARSHI together. That triggered a chain of unethical thoughts of lust to be the first one to apply the "gulal " on her.Red color which signifies sindoor. But he is taking this oath right in front of DM and her Diya the fire of which just purifies her devotees. How can she let this happen as Fire is inside the Diya...[love this well thought shot]...because that Diya with Fire is a wall in between him and Khushi and that represents our dragon, Arnav to vanquish his plans.

Loved Naniji ,protecting the sisters from Maami's bitterness..She might be angry yet her affection for Khushi still exists and she will not allow anyone ruin that. Her laughter when Khushi tries to pacify her with her innocence and Anjali's acceptance showed that Spring is coming back and she is indeed Buaji's Titliya spreading colors of joy.

Loved the act of independent and self respected Khushi who wants to pay the bill of colors from her piggy bank as she stops Payal getting money from Akash too. Khushi goes in her room and finds out that she is short of money .This is what I liked , she didn't ask anyone but Arnav... No such hesitance, remorse or shame asking him for that...Well thought.!!!..She stops him , very authoritatively but still shows him that she still doesn't take him for granted or think of him as her own but she shows the feeling of her right on him and the most important that she knows he is there to take care of her, her needs.Indeed this self respect and self reliance Khushi will make him crazy...

A poignant moment when a scatter brained Khushi breaks her Piggy bank and rolls all of her coins under the bed..Khushi bends down to collect em when Arnav comes in keeping his eyes on his file and lands his feet on the broken pieces of piggy bank.He sees Khushi and assumes she is hiding from him after losing the challenge.Love the way he comes to her level and Seeing her under the bed exposing her vulnerable skull brings out his protective nature and he immediately places his hand covering her head from the edge of the bed. That shows his protective hand , a promise he gave during hospital incident will always be there for Khushi in every danger even when she places herself in .

Pondering connected dots:He gave her strength that day in the hospital by removing her distress, [hospital bills].Today he is doing it again unintentionally , he took care for her Dad that day and this time he also took care for her sister's happiness.

As I said her proximity is way too compelling for him to resist and very same is for her... Shyam was behind The Hospital incident which brought these two together and today again he will be the reason to reduce the bitterness in between em.

I guess that's why it's been said "sometimes we understand each other better when we stay together". Khushi will slowly realize Arnav's genuine feelings and in turn will eventually connect the dots together to decode this hidden game of triquetra.

Khushi breaks the spell and he turns his face to hide his vulnerability as usual. She thinks he doing it out of an act but there is no one here besides them and he turns the table calling her mental who bangs her head for no reason every where and in every business...hmmm. You don't want her to stretch to find the truth or just challenging her but either way she is doing all for her Jiji's first Holi just like you re doing for your Di...two duffers...uhhh

Khushi has started to bring color in her relations with her Dm, and she gives her the color "gulal" and then sweets ...her Jalaibis and DM is the only one who is safe guarding her sweet child's Sindoor from all the storms and complications. She is making her PROTECTOT, her HORUS ready for her to vanquish the demons within

Love the last scene where the rising cinders of lava is heating up in boys.I must say Shyam's lustful obsession is crossing all the limits as he is forcing him upon Khushi and I didn't feel right , how come his wife Anjali even didn't stop him from doing so as she is one who said "it's Khushi's first Holi" so this is her hubby's responsibility to put Gulal on her , not Shyam. He failed but his intention heard and seen by Arnav . He is the one who brings t Arnav and Khushi closer in the name of Gulal...the color of Sindoor...

Glad you liked 206.In blue in 24 hrs she owes money to Arnav and she didn't want to beg anymore from him .She was showing him what he always taunted her for...especially on the road when he tells her "you are making this story for aisho aaram and doesn't believe her. I don't blame her.If I were her I would prefer begging than asking him.

Right here she thinks him of hers ...and there is a lot of closeness involved and that's why she said later to him when she takes off all the stars and remove her things...when he asks "tumhain kine ijazat di " and her reply is way hurful for her..."kissi ne bhi nahi aur yeh baat humain aaj pata chali.."

She was thinking him of hers and always had the promise to herself to keep this relationship strong no matter what.

Yes it would have been great if she would have paid him back or atleast completed the contract or something. Just because I feel Arnav would have really appreciated that..

The part is black is very heartbreaking. With Arnavji somehow Khushi always acted like haq hai .. And he always was more alive .. out of control even.. around her.. It made the whole falling in love..attraction.. bonding much more special.. Sometimes you simply fit in with a person and it can't be explained in any normal terms

Superb as usual.
I can't highlight lines as I'm with my IPAD.
Very significant description of khushi's color selection. I always learn so many things from your post. Though Arnav was annoyed on Khushi for choosing black for him, but his life was kind of black with hate and acrimony That time. But it was also proved that he didn't want black on him. He actually loves color, so that he fall in love with colorful Khushi.
I absolutely loved the scene when Arnav protected Khushi with his hand. Very appropriate assimilation of the scene with the hospital scene. He is always his protector. And you are also right about khushi's behavior with Arnav. When she asked money from him, she was not hesitant or she didn't have any inhibition too. That means she considered him as her own.
Shyam was just filthy and nasty. I have nothing to say about Anjali's dumbness. Either she was too dumb to understand or she was too smart who intentionally ignored her husband fallacy. It was good that Arnav noticed how Khushi fled from Shyam. I wonder why Shatir Arnav didn't think that Khushi avoided Shyam? Didn't he see khushi's fear when Shyam tried to,put color on her. Or moreover Shyam also muttered that Khushi was escaping from him .

completely loving it... horizon, aarwen, javeria, this is such a huge character. i agree with every nuance you glean.

but please don't mind, will differ a bit from you, ladies. on the gul issue. yes, she thought of a bold, individualistic mills and boon hero and that was great, i am totally grateful. but this is the general trend of at least three of her heroes. rich, brusque, a little broken, hot. in waistcoat too.

grew up reading m and b, i know the type and love them... but they do not become shakespearean or greek in my heart and head... i don't compare them to othello and oedipus.

as for gul's other leading men, they do nothing for me.

my belief, the character had a graph... a bold and striking one, that was created between gul, ved raj, and lead writers... but then it grew nuanced, extremely and subtly, making him into a real character, one you would want to meet on the streets and be stunned by... this came from barun and the director who vibed with him. they really entered the character and brought out his gut and soul.

and barun, if you have watched baat, has a way of merging with his character. no distance. it made a not too well written shravan real and unforgettable, despite weird storyline.

it made asr epic.

i would like to see what some other actor might have done with asr. can't think of even one who would have done that dragging to the temple without having me angry and hating the character. barun manged to make me feel his pain, sometimes more than khushi's.

yes, gul is talented. and i am appreciate her insisting on asr as a character.

but the talent that stunned me was the actor's. especially when he rapped with his director.

it is not the most subtly written character, yet that feeling of it beyond just the words, that reaching into his inner spaces, that gave the character an extraordinary subtlety.

with hardly any words, an actor conveyed so much.

his whole body spoke, his every expression belonged to asr. even when he is mushy brother he is hot tycoon asr with a "dard" in him... even when he is patting a little girl's cheek or being kissed by her that hot asrness never leaves... walks into his home tired... asr... walks in angry, also asr, walks in lonely and missing someone, abs asr. pruning shrubs he's asr and of course at ar, he's all asr. nowhere does the character slip... in specific scenes, in casual scenes.

in baat he was easygoing sweet shravan, straight after that he was not sweet at all, rigid, inert asr. then asr evolving and letting go of his shell, while remaining himself

i have never seen anyone do this across a year and a half of continuous work with hardly any breaks. okay i have found a few places where he might have done a bit better... maybe 10 scenes out of 398 episodes. not bad, huh.

so to me, yes of course gul thought of asr, but who delivered asr to me was barun and his director. and barun as an actor... that he, untrained and so young, could delve so deep and give all that was asked of him and that he asked of himself... breathtaking.

personally, while writing fan fiction i know exactly how much i owe to barun and sanaya. whatever i write, the reader can picture perfectly because they can see asrand khushi, they know him and her so so precisely. and dare i say it... especially him.

when shyam said pity you can't hit the rewind but in in real life, asr reacted so instantly and with such a complex mix of remorse, hurt, anger... and a sense of a desert bereft in the air. i always marveled at how deep the feelings went how deftly he skirted melodrama.

Indi, Beg to differ. While I wouldn't take ANYTHING away from Barun and wouldn't trade him for a zillion bucks to another actor to play this role, the entire credit of the character can't belong just to the actor and one director. I feel the genesis of IPK and ASR happened when everything was in perfect equilibrium under the most optimal conditions (may be even the stars aligned right!!!). Change of a slightest factor would have resulted in totally erroneous products. ASR isn't a typical run of a mill angry young man of TV, but he has several qualities esp endearing to me, like his ultra progressive ness, vulnerability and great regret every time he inflicted hurt. While I haven't seen Gul's first leading man, I did see bits and pieces of her current one and he is NO WAY like ASR. Unlike ASR, to the best of my knowledge he is very conservative and never was episode after episode was dedicated to show his guilt and regret. There is no way I would have liked him.
While I don't agree with Barun that anyone can play ASR, but it was only him, at the same time Barun can't make any angry young man out there, ruthless, in a waist coat, ASR as well. Barun's looks tremendously added to ASR accentuating his expressions that people watched over and over and got addicted. But what if the actor didn't have any scope at all in the script to showcase? The ASR post remarriage didn't talk to me at all. Not Barun, not Gul, no one could make me feel for him the way I did earlier on.
About the directors, one would never know which director did what scene and who could bring best out of him. More over, the initial phase with the stunning sequences that defined and left a total ASR mark on hearts, his first intro with chachaji and the Darga are done by the original 4 lions team member. And I leave it there.
There is no doubt, Barun made more than sure that what all is there in the script touched and tugged hearts of one and all and deserves a standing ovation if not more, the others involved from the conception to the writers can't be left on the fringes and have an equal impact in making this character iconic for me!
