If you had the power of vanishing one nepo kid?
@ poona - quoting your last couple of lines
Neither of them had backed away from the implication of the ritual. Both had understood its solemnity and for that brief moment had, silently believed in its pledge.
Why do you think that both knew what was going on? We, as audience knew that they got engaged at an auspicious time etc etc...However did they also know that?
Now go to the scene where they get engaged again (during the remarriage track). Arnav reminds her that they have already done this before. Khushi says kab, and then he reminds her. This scene has always puzzled me. Did Arnav know what he was doing during the bandagement or did he equate it to engagement later?
bidz, you hit the nail right in the head. I don't think they both knew the implication of it, but Ipoona is right in a way that they accepted the fact that they can't avoid each other either by will or by destinity, as he didn't fight his urge to see her when he realized she was hurt and she didn't fight his taking care of her even though he most heart breakingly said "doesn't mean a thing".About that remarriage, aahh.. puzzling to say the least.. Khushi the one who believed and would preach about the rituals would n't really understand the underlying essence of them and wouldn't really accept them unless they are performed the text book way? One who would know marriage is a life long trust of vaade??Poor writing. For him, I don't think he knew the solemnity that time when he was putting the bandage... or even about teej ... but when he was putting the actual ring on her he DID feel the DejaVU.. that it happened ealier...as he would say in the farm house "tumhare saath bitaye pal yaad ane lage".. he didn't forget a THING that happened between them.. rather they were continuously replaying in his head... a connection, passion he always had!Now when exactly he made these connections? may be during their hate marriage, may even be during the kidnap when he had all the time/retrospection in the world... or may even be while the rituals are happening in real time... but this man has been living breathing his moments with that girl every sec... so it didn't matter when he connected but he DID! (But, I sorely missed any FBs/ monologues for him before he confessed on phone that day.. the man of reflections...no nothing when he finally confesses to her? May be actor's availability issues.. what ever.. but would have been great).he certainly knew/ respect this institute that is wife...marriage as he connects to the actual essence of a ritual NOT the way it is done! Just that HE was NOT ready for that earlier.
Ipoona, read your 116 yday, still gulping the profundity and the symbolism of the last line.. superb!!
"The directions of their paths is aligned, their separation, not a separation really at all. It is bridged by none other than the divinity that is colluding to bring them together ... "
Another awesome post for a cherished moment 👏

Episode 117Babuji Kay liyaKhushi had uttered an urgent, silent, thankful prayer ... He had no ring ... He had taken it to the sunar to be polished ... Maybe this will give her some breathing room ... Her relief is as short lived as her impassioned plea ... He had pulled out a small blue box and held it out for all to see ... A stunned hush had befallen all except two in the room ... She had been trapped ... Had he not said he too did not want to do this ? Her breathing had slowed ... Devi, how will she escape this ...He is a master of playing emotions and taking advantage of weak momentsMoments eariler, she had walked into her home, just in time. Her Babuji had started to gasp and convulse ... His condition had improved minutes later, after a dose of his prescribed medication. But Buaji had been shaken up ... Her Babua, according to her opinon and that of Shaym Babua, has been heartsick over the unfortunate delay in his younger daughter's engagment ... That will be his cure. She had laid down the law. They were to engage tonight, right now ... Her Amma had pleaded tearfully, not to rush into this. They should wait for Khushi's Babuji to recover ... Should wait for another auspicious day for the sagai. Payal had protested loudly, Buaji, how can we do this ... Not like this ... Even the prospective groom had weakly chimed in ... Par Buaji ...But Buaji had been obstinately inmoveable. She had made up her mind and that was the end of it. Shubh mahurt be dammed, she was going to get these two engaged tonight. All for the sake of her brother's health. Thorough all this, Khushi had been a silent, stunned spectator ... Aghast at the path her life was taking, speechless at the pace of this unforceable calamity, heartbroken at the finality of the situation ...Buaji was doing all in love of her brother and his life,That's allAngoothi pehnao ... Haat bhadho ... Buaji had started to hammer away, repeatedly, gashing her teeth. The words had reverberated in the hollowness of her heart ... She had been spritilessly comatose ... The forcefully, harshly relentless, unyielding barrage had continued, Hailing on her, pounding, demanding ...She had looked at her convulsing Babuji ... Is this what you ask of me Babuji ... Is this what will give you happiness ? Will cure you ? She also knows that if her Babuji could speak, he would allow for none of this to ever happen ...But Buaji is on a warpath, Angoothi Pahnao ... Buaji almost screeches. He had extended his arm, his blue bracelet, an unknown ominious forewarning. A death knell for all her already trampled dreams ... She had slowly lifted her hand to slide the ring on to his extended finger ... her hands making all attempt to not touch him ...Hath Badahao, Buaji had commanded and when she had remained immovable, Buaji had lifted her hand and presented it. All are taken aback by the bandage, but none suspect it for what it really is, an anointment of another. She didn't touch him, her both fingers are covered, as she is trying to figure out why is this happening to her and when next day Buaji tells her iss ki nas dil tak jati hai...which makes her realize her Dhakan for her LG and his thoughts which makes her restless and and the speed of which goes beyond her breathing but she still doesn't know what exactly happened as aaj keh baad hum na unki shakal dekhaingey aur na yaad karaingey. She many not have been able to avoid this farce of an engagement, but now she sees, when all else was failing, her Devi had not abandoned her. He had not been able to place the ring in its proper place. That alone is a solace enough for her. But does she see how her Devi Maiya had protected her, had rushed her true engagement before all hell broke loose ... Shayam can put all the engagement rings he wants ... She is already spoken for ...Ipoona I don't think she knows that bandage is symbolically engagement , all she is seeing how the ring didn't reach to her heart finger...as over there some one else is sitting as a gauze who never let her unprotected, his care is always there even in his worst temper...She sees him ... Her inexplicable man ... Her Rajkumar ... Her hesitant discovery of her love ... Her short lived romance flashes before her eyes ... He had cared ... He had bound himself ... He had indulged ... He had sheltered ... He had desired ... He had fallen ... He had surrendered ... He had revealed ... He had seduced ... He had claimed ... And yet he was not here ...Where was he ?He paces his room in a restless angst, his eyes distant, his lips and throat parched, his chest constricted, his strides long and unsettled. His breath comes in long deep draws, as though the oxygen in the room has been eliminated. He breathes into his palms ... He can sense a distress, a cry in his heart ... but knows not what he is reacting to. His desperation mounts with the passing minutes. He can hear her cries ... He sits staring at the blood stain on his finger ... Khushi ... His heart answers ...He knows this stain as as indelible as the ones before ... He has tried before to remove them ... Aaj kay baad humko bhi aap say nahin milna hai ... Her last words to him ... His life with her spins before his eyes in short, fast, palpitating clips. An impassioned dance, an uncontrolled savagery ... a melting seduction ... a repentent enthrallment ... a magical hyponosis ... The images dart before his eyes in electrified vivid color and engage him in a animated, full bodied, furious, red hot, breatheless, entalgement ... He flings the box of tissues accross the room in impotent rage ... He cannot breath ... he paces ... he collopases ... His agony, as physical, as corporal as it is gut wrenchingly intangible, as it is deeply emotional ... He thows his head back and struggles to gain control ... The technicolor images continue unhindered, their play seamless, their power, potent ... Her payal, his kiss ...She sits on a charpai in her Buaji's garden, looking down at her hands, splayed out in her lap. Both hands carry claims. On her right hand shines a small diamond, the claim of a man forced upon her, by Buaji, by her circumstance. On her left hand, her ring figure is wrapped in the promise of another. The one who really needs no claim. She has been his, since the day she fell into his arms ... But just today, he had, with her Devi Maiya as witness professed her as his own. He had wrapped a bandage on her injured figure. Neither of them had backed away from the implication of the ritual. Both had understood its solemnity and for that brief moment had, silently believed in its pledge. And now she sits, not a few hours from that moment, already a betrayer of that promise.
