Arshi, thanks for those thoughts. You know woh baat kabhi bhi nahi hogi, becos even we don't feel the same about these festivals anymore after all these years, how can we expect our kids, born and brought up here to feel that? Habitat is very important, and we changed that, so can't expect the tender plants to bear identical flowers and fruits of the earlier habitat. My try would only be to introduce the flavor to them to the best of my expertise, after that it would be their interest and intent. I see my son is very much into music, I didn't have to try hard for it. If they find it really interesting, I am sure they will follow the suit. So, please don't feel bad or it. Becos as long as they enjoy what they do, and its not harmful to any one and in their best interest, it should be fine.
Ofcourse the definition of celebrations or even mourning changed leaps and bounds .Remember in the good old days, there used to 3 day state mourning and everything used to come to stand still when some state official passes away, On Jan 30th there used to be a 2 min siren for silence in the schools, I wonder if that still happens.. may be not.. people get killed, atrocities happen .. but that is all only for a 30 min dinner table news in the evening, and every one would be worried only about reaching work on time next morning.. can't get any more practical!! Even all the festivities look more for marketing than anything else. some times I wonder what requires to be done to quell this chaos for a sec and retrospect what needs be done and is being done...
Can't get any more cynical .. is it? Me and my ASR!!
