Warning: I have had the time to think about this and so I am going to take the philosophical route. Please excuse me if this is too holier than thou - that is not intentional.

When you are cornered, by anyone, irrespective of why you were cornered, you claw back, you fight. Simple.

When your loved one is cornered, that response multiplies in its intensity because you don't have the hurt to deal with - just anger.

When you amble in the jungle, months later, and see someone else being cornered - irrespective of who is being cornered, friend, foe or stranger, there is still a reaction - it would be impossible to not care.

In any of the above situations - there is no place for calm rational thinking.

At least not in the jungle.

And unfortunately that is what happened here. If only the parties involved had decided to first do the rational thing by talking between themselves before using ANY public platforms, there would have been no "cornering" and we would be doing what all of us came here to do - have fun!

Ironically, I can't fail to notice that none of us is either the corner-er or the corner-ed. Quite sad that it has come to this, then?
