Chapter 2 – Remember me…Khushi…??

Those words haunted him every day since the past 3 months Khushi had been in a coma.. He would be with her all day talking to her, asking her to come back.. But he got no response! He prayed, he begged God to give his life back! He who didn't believe in God prayed and begged! Both the families stood by him .. His Di too.. Shed given birth and his little nephew was named 'Aditya' . All this life and time moving but his Khushi was silent through it all... He couldn't take it anymore..

Then one day when her bauji and him were sitting by her.. Her bauji talking to her stroking her hair and talking to her and him holding her hand.. He felt her move...her heartbeats increased, all around the machines were beeping. He felt the jolt and ran and called the doctor..

They checked her as they waited outside, he'd informed the rest. All were there. The doctor came out with a smile and a little worry.. "She's conscious Mr. Raizada you can see her but"...before he could finish they all rushed in...

Khushi smiled as she saw her Amma, bauji, jiji and buaji rush in, but wait, who are these people and why is jiji wearing sindoor???

Before she could speak, a pair of strong arms took her in a tight hug as she felt the stranger's tears... Who is he she thought? He cupped her face.. "Khushi you're back, thank God!"

She looked at her Amma and bauji as to why they were letting this man touch her this way.. She slowly mustered.. "Excuse me who are you? And why are u hugging me??" she looked at the rest of the strange faces.. Aap sab kaun hai? Amma jiji ki shaadi hogayi? Kab? Hum Lagan the? Hume yaad nai?? All the stress built unto her head as she felt the heaviness and dizziness... The doctor rushed in and gave her a sedative and then looked up at the man to see him crushed to the core...

Arnav said – "doc what just happened?"

Doc- "that's what I wanted to tell you before u all rushed in - effect of coma and head injury, you all don't exist for her.. The last three years of her life have been washed out.. It's a case of amnesia..i mean memory loss..."

The doctor took everyone out and spoke- "I am sorry I know this is all a blow to you , but please accept it as in such cases sometimes, memories never come back and sometimes it just does on its own, but you all shouldn't try to remind her.. She's in a very delicate condition ASR.. She's anyway distressed that she doesn't remember a few things .. I do not want her to take stress as that will hinder her recovery! Right now I just want her parents to sum up a few things to her while I tell her that's all what she missed while she was ill and rest is all the same!"

Everyone was worried for Arnav. Anjali was crying she couldn't see her brother in pain.. After all these months of waiting for Khushi.. He only finds out that he doesn't exist for her! "God what cruel game are you playing with my Chottey?" she thought!

Just then Arnav turned around to everybody and said- "bauji I've thought about it.. Just tell her that Payal was married to Akash we all are family! She won't be able to take the stress of realizing that she doesn't remember her husband! I'm not risking that"..bauji patted his head and nodded Amma hugged him and cried- he wiped his tears and said – "Amma, don't worry so what if she doesn't remember, she's mine and always will be.. So now I get a chance to woo back my wife.. Di I'll love her shower, her with care, her heart is the same Di , don't worry for us, she will love me.. But I need your support.. All of yours.. Buaji your Sanka Devi is a tough nut to crack! But I will bring her back, I'll love her you all trust me!" They all smiled through their tears at Arnav, seeing him so adamant for his love , his care. Meanwhile ASR's brain was chalking out the plan - the plan to woo his wife and make her fall in love with him! " Its time win you back my love,Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada.."-he thought and smiled!

When she woke up she saw the same people in her room, she panicked again - as Bauji spoke "Khushi bitiya, all is the same, just that your Payal jiji is married to Akash and these are her in laws.. We are family!" He introduced her to everyone and as she told Namaste to everyone and apologized for missing out on the wedding.. She felt a gaze on her as if it was looking through her.. Then finally she was introduced to those chocolate brown eyes – "this is Payal's jethji, Arnav"Bauji spoke!. She looked up and smiled.. Namaste Arnavji.. She whispered' and looked away from those eyes, his gaze..Shyly.

Arnav's heart skipped a thousand beats as he heard her whisper his name.. "Arnavji" how much he had longed to hear his sweet wife.. He just wanted to talk to her and hear her.. She was safe and he thanked God for it! But he couldn't take his eyes off her, her innocence, her eyes, her smile.. They had melted the ASR hadn't they?! Guilt ran through him remembering their past, but he pushed it aside- "it's time we make new memories Khushi, for ourselves.."

He told everyone to go back home and rest meanwhile he would stay here with Khushi.. They all agreed because they wanted Arnav to be with her!

He walked back into her room, to see her fighting with the nurse over the injection she was about to give her, as she looked up at him and flushed!

Arnav- "what's the matter Khushi please get this put!"

Khushi- "woh..haan..Nahi..Arnavji Hume nai lagana.. Hume yahan se bahar Nikalna hai Arnavji.. Ek toh koi Hume Kuch nahi Bata raha.. Why am I here? How? And how long?"

He stood next to her and promised- "Khushi, tum please yeh lagao aur phir main sab bataunga.."

Khushi- "pakka?"

Arnav- "pakka"

The nurse did her job he saw her close her eyes!

Arnav thought painfully-"She's scared of needles.. And she took my bullets and hurt, I've hurt her both physically and emotionally- why did I ever doubt how much you love me Khushi, why?"

Khushi, looked up at him thinking to herself- "jiji's jethji is so handsome.. Why do I feel I know him! Time for answers!"

Khushi- "Arnavji now tell me, how did I get here?"

Arnav- "you fell down the office stairs and hurt your head"

Khushi- "office?"

Arnav- yes, you work for us at AR Designs, you are my assistant!"

Khushi, now smiled- "oh yes, so that's why I felt like I know you.. But I couldn't remember, so you are my boss...?"

"And are we like, friends?"

Arnav, thought they were anything but friends but smiled- "yes, kind off you know we are all a family now!"

Khushi- "oh yes, Payal jiji, how embarrassing!"

Before she could speak further she felt a sudden pain in her head.. "aah" she groaned!

Arnav was upright in a second and helped her lie down..-"Khushi please lie down, rest I'll just call the doctor, enough for today!?

Before he walked out, she instinctively caught his sleeve.. "Arnavji thanks for answering me ... But I still have some questions left! Will you answer as soon as you come back?" He smiled- she wanted him to come back his adorable inquisitive wife- "yes of course!"

As she saw him walk out to talk to the doctor, Khushi wondered "why is Arnavji being so nice to me, and why do I feel so attracted to him? No Khushi no.. You can't give your heart to anyone! You cannot love.. You will marry the guy Amma Bauji choose.. You can't be vulnerable.. So it's decided you will avoid him, stay away ".. Her heart fluttered but somewhere deep down that hurt heart which had never been trusted responded and agreed with her mind, she may have forgotten but her heart didn't and so it decided to avoid the man that had caused it to beat like a maniac.

She wondered why her heart agreed, after all Khushi always wanted to fall in love, she didn't know that she was Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada had she had unconsciously locked her heart and decided she would change the lock every time he was near! She didn't know the irony.. The places had been switched.. Now ASR was Arnav and Khushi was well.. Khushi, just with a Great Wall of China around her just, like ASR used to be!

Arnav walked in with the doctor, to see his Khushi lying down looking at the ceiling, she was just thinking maybe, he thought but she shouldn't stress! The doctor checked on her and looked up worried at his patient- "Ms. Gupta you need to sleep, rest, you are stressing out".. Arnav was alarmed.. "What happened doctor?" He asked worriedly - the doc replied-"she had fever, high fever, not good at all, I'm giving you a sleeping injection Ms. Gupta please sleep!"

Khushi, with tears in her eyes- it killed Arnav yet again as she whispered- "didn't I just wake up? But yes maybe you are right doctor, I want to sleep.."

The doctor injected her and left!

Arnav sat next to her, silently, "what should I say he wondered," so he just looked at her.. He saw her look unto him sleepily but he was worried, something in her always over expressive eyes was locked..

Khushi- thanks Arnavji, but you know what, first I wanted to ask so much but I don't know why I feel I don't want to know anything about the past.. It's odd and I don't know why, but something deep down tells me to start afresh.. It was a painful journey or what I don't know, but yes, I know that I don't want to go back into it! Sleep took over as she whispered- "I'm happy jiji is in your family. You all are so nice.. Goodnight Arnavji" and she thought she saw tears in those eyes but before she could comprehend the reason.. She was asleep!

All he wanted was to hold her and love her.. Win her back into his life as she was the reason for his existence ... But the pain he felt as he comprehended her words... "Arnavji I don't want to know anything.. Start afresh..."

Of course she didn't remember but her heart knew, Arnav knew! He knew the feeling of wanting to lock it all away so that he wouldn't be hurt but she had broken in silently and taken over every inch of his soul.. He knew he'd wronged her, given her heart only pain.. But even then he'd loved her passionately as the hate.. But "she never deserved any of it" he thought bitterly! It was his entire fault..! But he couldn't think of her locking her heart up, even the thought scared the hell out of him because he would die, if he didn't have her back! All this while, her illness, her being away, made him realize that he only ever needed her and nothing else mattered. "Please Khushi don't lock me out"- he wished but the ASR snickered- "so what, I know how to break in.. I'll love you no matter what.. I'll fight with your wall like you did with mine.. You won't even know but you'll be mine.." Coz he didn't know in what moment God decided this and destiny planned this game on them.. But he now accepted it without fear..That they were always destined to be..
