Chapter 3- A new path…or a New Destination?

He wasn't aware of the influence he had had on his wife but Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada was clearly his reflection of the old times only with a change that it was basically towards him! Not that she was rude or anything, her soul was too kind for that but she avoided him so much, it was like a knife in his heart everyday! Everyone would visit her, he wanted her to heal first before he put his plan into action...so he'd thought he'll just be there silently.. But this was too much! After that day in the hospital, she never spoke to him alone of course she would smile be courteous but as she should be with her sister's jethji but nothing more than that! It had been 20 days and all he wanted was to get her to talk to him!

The only good thing in all of this was that she was recovering and that was what had made him bear and live through her avoiding him! Today he and Bauji had come to take her back home, she was getting discharged.. His wife was going back to her maayka as of course she didn't know about her sasural! Things were so different for him: first she was avoiding him full time, second she was going to be staying away from him, third - he couldn't justify coming to meet her often, fourth- she'd announced one day when Akash, Payal and he were sitting with her that she didn't want to work as his assistant! Akash and Payal were shocked to hear this because they knew what it meant to Arnav! But she'd said "Jijaji I want to work once I am fine just not as an assistant! Arnavji please don't misunderstand but I've had so much time to think and of course as I don't remember what I used to do, I don't know how I will cope! I could have died but she changed it to would have been in coma for long.. All of this could have been worse.. But like you all tell me I haven't missed out much.. I've been lucky.. Please Jiji, Jijaji, Arnavji I feel I've been given a second chance to live.. I want to do something which I really want to right now!"

Arnav had understood.. How many times was it even possible to feel helpless in a day- he'd experienced now.. But his eyes hnd silently spoken to his brother to do something! Akash had listened and seen the pain of his brother and couldn't bear it so he and Payal asked her- "what is it that you want to do Khushiji?"

She'd replied- Jijaji I want to do something to help others, orphans, kids.. I want to thank God for giving me this second chance by helping others who need this too!"

She really was an angel not only for him but for this world- Arnav had thought as he admired his wife's decision.

He and Akash had secretly smiled and told her- "that's great Khushiji, Bhai had got a children's nursing home for Di a year back.. Where Di goes every week to meet the kids as she always loved kids! Why don't you manage the ward for us, overlook its management and working? What say Bhai?" Arnav of course smiled and said- "yes Khushi you should.." if she wasn't going to work with him, he'd wanted her to at least work somewhere where he could watch her and take care of all her needs from afar..! Khushi was happy.. She'd agreed in a go! That was the first time in weeks she'd spoken to him. After Payal and Akash left- "Arnavji, thank you, I hope you understand this. , I promise I'll do my best.. Won't let you down.. By the way Arnavji, you really like to be my boss don't you?" She laughed and smiled at him after what seemed like ages to Arnav! It was his redemption he knew, his payback time he knew.. But his love for her was increasing everyday every second.. It pained him.. But the minute he remembered the moments with her..he smiled through it all.. Determined to have it all back!

Today as they got her back home at Gupta house, everyone was so excited to get her back! Her presence lit the whole house up! The Raizadas were so happy to get to see her as well.. They would miss her in Shantivan but they had to compromise with that for her sake and they had! Even Mamiji missed her phati sarree!

Arnav watched silently as Payal settled her back into the room! He saw her stuff there and smiled he'd got back her Salman khan posters, her stars.. All of it! He tripped over the carpet as he was about to walk out.. And he saw her run to him.. "Arnavji aap thik hai? Lagi toh nai?"- he got up and limped , he'd maybe got a muscle pull! "Arnavji please sit"- Khushi ordered as she made him sit on her bed. Payal sensed that maybe she should leave them alone as she said "hum balm le aaye Arnavji ke liye."

Khushi- "haan jiji please, tab tak hum dekhte hai, jaldi le aao hum lagadenge.." As she bent down to see where it hurt him! Payal smiled as she saw Arnav lovingly gaze at her- love was magical..as she walked out to get the balm!

Khushi tried to gauge through ki kahan lagi hai! It had been so difficult to not talk to him all these days..Why is he sooo nice?? He understood her when she said she didn't want to be his assistant anymore.. She thought he would get angry and that would make her task easier of being away from him but instead she felt herself being drawn to him crazily! Her heart would scream to open the lock but then she would think- "he's jiji's jethji, my boss, he's so nice.. I don't want to mess things up with my stupidity" because she couldn't control her feelings! But ironically her mind had always won..! But of course she couldn't see him in pain, it's inhuman to not help her sister's jethji as she justified to herself at her own concern at seeing him trip!

He watched her touch his foot, remove his shoes and try to move it and make it fine like he had done to hers on Diwali night! He couldn't feel any pain, only her care and love.. He just wanted to take her in his arms and kiss her madly, but of course he refrained himself and continued watching her as she gently applied balm for him! Payal had walked out giving them their space and shut the door behind her informing them that they were all going to Raizada Mansion and asking them to come over once Arnav felt he could drive !they left them all alone .. It was a plan of course he knew as he thanked papal silently as she walked out! Khushi had gone and locked the main gate as everyone left!

Once done as she sat next to him.. He whispered thanks.. she looked him. at his gaze and let her lock open for a while! She couldn't stop.. Not when he was so near and in pain..She instinctively took his hand and asked "are you okay now? Does it pain less?"

Arnav was surprised.. As he looked into her eyes.. But he let her continue because he knew this memory would give him the courage to survive the rest of the days away from her!

And just as her lock opened, he let his guard off too.. Before he knew it he cupped her face and looked into her eyes.. "Yes Khushi I'm fine.. Thank you!" To his surprise, she touched his cheek and caressed it with love..As she whispered.. "You should take care Arnavji what if I wasn't there to catch you?.."

The tenderness with which she spoke those words did it.. And he leaned in closer and whispered.. "But you did Khushi, you did!" Both their hearts beat wildly, as she closed her eyes, shying away from his gaze and touch! It reminded him of diwali, that night in the hut, all the times his love had fallen into his arms and he hadn't loved her.. The ASR took over.. As he put his hand in her hair and pulled her on to her bed.. She didn't retaliate as he came on top of her, her eyes were shut as she didn't want to open them.. She knew the lock will be on and she'd miss this.. And she didn't want to this once.. Maybe this one time make this one memory and then lock it up it'll give your heart the courage to go on without him! He was so near.. She was so near.. And then suddenly the hidden passion took over..

He kissed her.. Took her lips.. Sucked on it begging her to open.. She let out a moan in pleasure as she whispered "Arnavji" and he was in.. She let her hands discover him, touched his hair, his face while it settled on his neck pulling him closer to her.. She wanted him so much but didn't know why! "Omg" she thought she was kissing a stranger..Jiji's jethji what was she doing, her mind argued but this time her heart didn't listen! She kissed him back.. Rolled her tongue in his.. as his body pressed into hers!

Arnav lost it.. As she kissed him back he realized she feels it too, the passion.. He kissed her everywhere on her face.. he continued kissing her on her neck as she moaned in pleasure.. What was this they didn't know! Shed regret it, he'd feel guilty but right now it was what they needed!

But soon realization struck them both and they both jolted up. Khushi was shocked as to what had happened? She had just madly kissed Arnavji ... Wasn't she supposed to stay away? "Omg what have I done..? How will I ever face him now, what will he think of me? I'm nothing of his and I was kissing him like that, omg I can't face him."

Arnav got up and decided to help her relax as he saw her tense position.. As he touched her shoulder.. "Khushi it's ok.. Relax.."

She snapped back at him with tears in her eyes "Ok? No Arnavji no.. How could I? I'm no one to you and I... Arnavji please leave.. I can't, I can't..This may be ok for you but not for me, why did this happen?.. How? Just go please, I don't want to talk to you ever, can't even face you, this was a mistake I'm sorry please.. It was too much.. I hate myself" was what she mustered before she fainted and just in time as always Arnav caught her..

As the doctor checked her, Arnav recalled their first kiss a few minutes back.. It hurt so much to feel that he was loving his wife and she hated herself for coming near him as he was nothing! She won't talk to me I know she'll go on her ignoring trip again...it hurt so much for that kiss meant so much to him... It would be his memory..his favorite one..Until he got her back...he smiled to himself because even though she'd run away from it he knew her heart.. The way she kissed him spoke a lot.. It was so ironic, earlier it was him who was running away and now he is chasing..his own wife.. His love and life..

He sat by her till everyone came back as he'd called and informed them about Khushi fainting! Before he left he kissed her forehead, asking buaji.. Koi zaroorat Paderewski toh kabi bi phone Karna buaji. He left a note for her and drove back!

As she woke up in the morning she remembered her actions, embarrassed as she was she saw a note..

Khushi,

How do you feel now? I am sorry things got out of hand..

Please don't hate yourself.. I could have stopped but I didn't too. So please don't be harsh on yourself!

Take care Khushi and yes I am always a call away if you ever need anything at all.

Arnav.

As angry as she was with herself.. She mumbled "this ASR who does he think he is! I won't need his help! I start work tomorrow at the children's hospital where I won't be seeing him.." Her heart sank for a minute but she shoved the emotions aside..

Mission- Avoid Arnav Singh Raizada she decided.

A week passed, Arnav hadn't seen her, he knew everything through her work progress, her health, he kept a tab on her...the only thing that provided him comfort in his loneliness was their closeness last week.."Come back Khushi..Please... I miss you so damn much" he thought, as he slept that day, deciding to visit the hospital tomorrow, unaware that another challenge was already in his path in wooing his love back...

Arhaan Oberoi- was the owner of the best interior design company in Delhi. 26 yrs, charming, intelligent amazing, sweet he was every girl's prince charming! He had just returned from London and joined his father. He had had many girlfriends.. But he longed to love! He had never fallen in love as no girl had captured his attention that way! His life was going to change the very next day..

Khushi knew she had to face him today, as he and Jijaji were coming in today! As they came in , she could feel his gaze on her the whole time as she explained to them that she wanted to get the children's ward renovated! Akash suggested- Bhai I think I'll take Khushiji to the Oberoi's, they've done our office and everything! Arnav agreed- he didn't give a damn, Khushi could do all she wanted his mind was busy in absorbing the picture of his wife, who looked like a doll in that white anarkali! Akash stood to book an appointment with the Oberoi's - Arnav was ready for the avoiding to begin but was shocked as she spoke to him...

Khushi, deciding to put this weirdness away. "Arnavji.. I am sorry.."

Arnav smiled- "you don't need to be Khushi!"

Khushi- "no I need to , hum ekdum bachon wali harkate kar rahe the..galti hum dono ke thi".. She blushed.. And continued.. "But we have to work together.. And we have To put this behind us.. I've already forgotten all about it and I know you have too! So I hope all's ok now!"

Arnav, masking his pain- "yes all is ok" and got himself to give a smile!

Akash came back in "Khushiji, you can drop by the Oberoi's office tomorrow by 1! And meet Maya! All is taken care of!"

They left and Khushi returned to work!

It was 6 and Khushi decided to pay Devi Maiyya a visit! The mandir was just 5 mins walk and she wanted to make it in time for Aarti and then would go home! As she reached the temple and prayed, she confessed to Devi Maiyya.. "Maaf kardena Hume , humne jhoot bola Arnavji ko.. Hum Kuch nai bhoole..That's the only thing which warms me but scares me too!"

A family had just come for a pooja. So she decided not to interfere with their rituals and walked out.. Just then a little kid tripped over the mandir stairs! She rushed.. Omg he was hurt in his knees and there was a lot of blood!

Khushi- "beta aap theek hai? Aapki Mumma kahan hai?"

The child cried and gestures towards the temple.. She said "thike aap yahan ek min rukiye hum bulate hai!"

She ran back to the family .. 6 people were there.. The child's grandparents, parents and maybe his dads brother and sister she assumed..

She walked up and spoke- "suniye", all 6 heads turned to her.. "Maaf kijiye woh actually Asoka beta" she spoke to the mom "woh gir Gaya hai sadiyon pe.. Chot lagi hai ro raha hai aap please"..

The mom- "kya? Krrish kahan pe? Aap le chaliye'

They all rushed to him.. Krrish beta aap theek ho? He hugged his mom.. "Haan Muma Aunty ne bachaya par yeh thoda khoon..."

Khushi- "aap please hospital chaliye, yahi pass Keon hai well clean up the wounds.."

They all rushed!

Once they reached Khushi instructed the nurse..and got back to the family and smiled "aap sab Chinta mat kijiye Krish ab theek hai! Bass dressing ho rahi hai!"

His mom walked up to her and thanked her.. "Thank you so much.. I am Diya Oberoi! These are my in laws.. My husband Nikhil.. My sister in law- Neha and my brother in law- Arhaan!" She did Namaste to everyone!

Everyone smiled at her and thanked her one by one!

Krrish was fine.. They all walked out Khushi went to see them out..

Nikhil- "thanks Khushi so is this your hospital?

Khushi- no, I overlook its management the children's ward and everything! It's actually owned by the Raizadas.. Akash Raizada and Arnav Singh Raizada!

Nikhil and Diya- 'oh yes of course who hasn't heard of the Raizada's, so you know them!

Khushi smiled- "yes kind off we are family, Akashji is my Jijaji!

They all smiled! Diya- "oho humne aapka naam toh pooch hi nai"

Khushi- I'm Khushi! Khushi Kumari Gupta!

Krrish hugged Khushi- "bye Aunty thank you!" She pulled his cheek lovingly – "aap dhyan rakhna apna

Everyone was smiling at them! Krish got in with his dada, Dadiji and mom, dad in the car as diya saw Khushi calling for cab!

"No no Khushiji"- diya said! "Arhaan will drop you.. Please it's the least we can do for all your help!"

Diya looked at Arhaan and smiled as she was sure she saw something in his eyes since they had bumped into Khushi!

The minute they had entered the mandir, Arhaan saw a flash of white.. He saw her side face as she walked out of the mandir.. He wanted to go up and talk to this girl as he felt his heart skip a beat as he glanced at her as he saw her put on her sandals! He was amazed at her.. She was beautiful.. She reflected sheer purity!

Arhaan got his mind back to the pooja his mom and Bhabhi had organized! Thinking about Krish as to where was he, must be playing around he thought! And then he saw, her whom he thought he won't ever see again.. She ran to them and spoke to Bhabhi that Krish had fallen! They all had rushed him to her hospital.. Now once Krish was all bandaged he couldn't help but steal glances at her.. For the first time ever.. Simplicity had attracted him this way.. As Bhabhi had found out her name' Khushi' - suits her he thought and smiled! And before he knew, he was ordered.. To drop her home, and of course he didn't complain!

She was next to him, looking out! She didn't need the lift but Diya had insisted! She smiled at him as she saw him look at her! Arhaan decided to break the silence-

Arhaan- "thanks Khushi"

Khushi- "thanks to you too for dropping me home! You didn't need to!"

Arhaan- "so you know the Raizada's, they are our clients! We've done their offices and everything!"

Khushi, surprised- "wait are you Oberoi's as in the best company for interiors in town?"

Arhaan, smiling- "yes, i guess we are thanks!"

Khushi- "kya ittefaq hai , humari kal hi meeting hai awoke office mein- Jijaji ne fix karayi since I want to redo the children's ward! I have to meet Maya at 1"

Arhaan, couldn't believe his stars, God is this destiny he thought-oh really is it? "Wow this is a great coincidence!"

Khushi- "yes it is". they had reached – "Arhaan ji ya in rok dijiye.."

Arhaan- "ok but please call me Arhaan ..and tomorrow when you come in ask for me and not Maya! I shall personally do this work for you" and smiled! "So nice meeting you Khushi...bye and see you"

Khushi smiled – "ok Arhaan...yes see you.. Bye!"

As she smiled and walked off!

Midnight --

Arnav recalling the day- this was the day! The contract was over! Since the truth was now out about Shyam he had called everyone for tea.. Not Khushi though because he had to tell them! He had to.. And when he disclosed the truth of why he had married her and how the contract was over- he saw angry faces glaring at him! They all yelled and questioned but it was Khushi's Bauji who had spoken- "it's ok.. They did it for their sisters.. Aap sab samajhiye.. Khushi ne bhi Payal ke liye kiya.. So much has happened in this past six months.. We should forget and move on..! Arnav bitwa we understand and now she is no longer your wife but we know you love her and once she's fine and all is sorted I know she will be standing next to you as your wife rightly! You will now do it the right way I know"!he thanked God they all understood! The burden was lifted! Now he would have to win his love back the right way.. As he recalled and redeeming in pain over the past...he couldn't help but feel so lonely..This was worse than dying, this was so difficult! Little did he know that his princess was now a object of attention of another prince as well.. This game was just going to get twisted..Destiny wanted him to fight back for the ones he loved always and since this time it was his lady love, Khushi on the other side..For once life also wanted to know how far would ASR go this time... Games on!

Arhaan who was totally smitten by her smiled to himself.. I so want to know you Khushi.. I don't know why but I have this feeling.. Maybe it was time life wanted him to do what it had decided for him..

But little did he know that he was just going to get wrapped up in the game of love..Only to be broken.. Because his heart had set out to seek the one.. The one who could never be his... Because not very far away lay the dark knight to whom Khushi belonged ..

Khushi- unaware of the tangle which she was in! As she slept thinking about her work only and dedication...she didn't know that in this war of love- she was going to face- on one side was the dark knight -her no longer husband of six months.. But the one she had loved and been crushed by and on the other side was the prince every girl would always dream off! Life wanted to see - what side was our princess on?
