Episode 80: Provoked

A numbness grabs him at the sight of the flowers and other puja essentials on the table, Anjali sees right through his pain, he gestures a nod "i'm ok" but she knows better, she goes to his room . His fingers are on his laptop but mind is fighting that dreadful day.

Moving his eyes back an forth , gulping down the tears he's trying stop, the intensity of it all increases, he slam laptop shut. Eyes need closed, more images of that day, she is running through the halls of sheesh mahel to the sound of shehnaai (wedding instrument)...a 14 yr old Arnav screams for her "Maaa!" his eye open horrified, it's like he is that 14 year old again. I can make out you were observing each and every move of our man, BD. But then you also felt what he was going through. Brilliant👏 Anjali came just in time, he needed that hand on his shoulder badly, he felt as lost as he was that day...He takes all the pain and wraps his arms around her in the hope that she would take it away, and as always, she tries her best.

The tears needed an outlet, she knew that "kuchh mat kaho" no need to explain.

Slowly mustering up courage, he releases her hand and stands up.This scene came at the end of episode 80, but haunting of that day and anxiety of barsi coming up, had been lingering within him all day. Such a beautiful portrayl of a touching scene between a bro and a motherly elder sis and lovely pic. Thanks BD👏

He woke up with a bad headache, one can only imagine the night he had after a marriage proposal from La and the nerve of the low-status girl who disconnected his phone, add to it, the thoughts of barsi coiming up. Then at the breakfast table, more marriage talk by Di, he's quick to remind her he doesn't believe in marriage.

And through a small window we learn his mom and dad have something to do with it...but the window is fast closed by Arnav ademently "Di, i don't want to talk about this!" He's furthure irritated when La comes still in her traditional wife avatar, so he clearifies again in front of Nani, Di and La, "mein yeh pehle bhi kahe chuka hoon, shaadi ke baare mein mera khayal badla nahi hai aur naahi kisi ke kahne se badle ga (I said this bofore, my stand on marriage didn't change nor will it change just by someone telling me)" His mother had killed herself because his father had cheated on her, his wife of many years...that was the small window...no wonder, he wanted to relegate it to the back of his head ! Bang on,BD!

This marriage proposal couldn've come at a worse time, the barsi (death day) of his parents coming up, also a brutal reminder of the day his parent's marriage shattered and with it his trust in the institution of marriage... Love this line! 👏now he has to deal with marriage pressures and constantly remind everyone his strong stanze against marriage... all because the mistake of Khushi Kumaari Gupta. He needed to settle the score with her for filling La's head with nonsense, but more imortantly for disconnecting his phone yesterday.

Khushi seems to be a step ahead as she does all she can to avoid him. First she cuts him off when he tries to talk to her by dragging La into the kitchen.

He follows her into the kitchen, only after Di and La have left ofcourse. "Kya soch ke tumne mera phone kata tha, (what were you thinking when you disconnected my call?)" taking his signiture step of intemedation. "tumhe to lagta ha bolne a haq sift tumhe ha, hai na (you think only you have the right to talk, don't you)?

he is able to get those two lines in before she causes disterbunce out of fear ( I think she did it deliberately not out of fear😆), by dropping a container of flour, getting it all over him and making him sneez, maami runs in and he has to leave. what happens between them, stays between them. He leaves highly disapointed. Really, Khushi is too much!

She's trying to sneak out on high alert to get the light bulb, but proves useless as she's unable to escape Arnav. He ends his call...she's become more important now...😉

He tries to get more aggresive this time "Don't even try moving till i'm done talking, dont' move you hand" but quickly goes silent, his face softens ino worry, Khushi looks like she's going to faint. Uff his voice fills with concern and her fist name comes to his lips, "khush...Khushii, Khushi, khushi?" his hand on her shoulder,(why not my shoulder😭)

helps her sitdown "Khushi!" she asks for water and when Arnav call JP, she hurries him (she must've been thinking about the teej fast breaking incident coming up with this ploy), "Ok" runs to get it. KHushi's tactic is disclosed, she's digging a deeper hole for herself...her cuteness did not appeal to me here. 😆 BD! He comes back with a glass of water, where did she go? "Khushi!". He scans the room. His eyes stop at her duppatta caught in between the front door (that dupatta of hers always seems to play for team Arnav, today it lingered for him to tell on her) , Absolutely , Feel the same, The dupatta was at it again! And a BLUE one too! 😊

the door pops open, its her frantically freeing her dupatta and running for her life. This was the moment, the one of maha-provocation the limits had been crossed, his feelings were tampered with, this time she pushed him over the edge. The wrath of it all endured by the glass in his hand.

"ENOUGH KHUSHI!" for the second time, his thoughts immerged in Khushi's is spilled in front of La. La shakes it off "its ok ASR"...her denial has begun. Arnav really has had enough from Khushi, in Khushi's defense, all of her actions were out of fear, the man knows how to indemidate the poor girl, but with the fainting tactic, we see that she is very capable of playing dirty. Poor guy! Hugs and massages!

This takes us to on of the most intense scenes on the show (well said!), after Khushi returns and is surprised to find LG behind the door, b/c wasn't that his car that just left the RM?

A panic driven Khushi rushes upstairs to help mami, while he is determined to get some answers. She opens the balcony door, but they are forced closed by him, she tries to escape a few different ways before finding herself trapped between his arms,

looking up, she finds his face inches away from hers (would never have noticed if you had not posted the pic above! ) she steps back. Hmmm!

"yoou're way past your limits Khushi Kumaari Gupta" he warns. The limits he speaks of are more of her defiances over an over. Again he asks about disconnecting his phone, informs her that she may not move till she answers his questions. Still an uneasy Khushi looks around, for some help, infuriating him furthre "you don' t see anyone around? that's because noone is home...SAMJHI TUM (understand)?!! his voice echoes through the RM.

"Tum ho kaun jisse baat karne ke liye itna kuchh karna padta hai, sirf di ki waje se mein tumh apen ghar mein apne aas paas bardasht kar raha hoon varna..."(Who are you that i have to do so much just to talk to you) questioning her identity again... "Do the work your supposed to do, you're here to train Lavanya, not teach her your middleclass mentatliy...do you work, take your money and quietly leave...and yes keep the mearriage ideas to yourself! do you understand? Ms.Khushi Kumaari Gupta"

This scene was never about marriage ideas in La's head, its more about Khushi messing with his belief system especially days away from their parent's death anniverstary, its about showing Khushi her limits, he thought he had her conrnered but she answers him back with such confidence that he has to step back and listen. Loved this paragraph.👏 Agree 100%

"Shaadi ka idea hamaara banaya hua nahi hai, Mr.Arnav Sing Raizada..." She goes on to explaign her idea of a marriage...a blessing from God, a bond even death can't seperate, sacrificing your life for your loved one...a promise kept till the end of life. Her explanation of marriage was breaking down a thick wall inside of him, he has never heard it explained this way and it was far from the example he has seen . "do log zindagi bhar ek saath rahe hi nahi sakte, time se saath saath log badlte hai, aur aage nikkal jaate hai (Two people can't live together for their whole lives, people change and they move on)" as he would later tell Khushi, That is what he was left after he lost his parents. Khushi proceeds with a statement that stems from her discomfort about his "live-in" status with La, she assumes that the relationships are meaningless to him, that he's incapable of understanding them, and the nail on the coffin "aapka character hi dheela hai"

Her attack on him here reminded me the one during the resignation scene when she accused him of perposely putting her life in danger...i almost expected him to remain as quiet as he did that day, but he did just the opposite, crossing a limit of his own. Superb observation!👏

He grabbed her hand from behind and with enormous force, turned her towards him and pulled her close, really close...uff. He doesn't seem to know why he's doing what he's doing but sexual tension was oozing out,Awww mostly from him and a tad from her.

"who said i'm done talking, what did you say? i have a loose character? i'll show you what a loose character is." horrific words for any girl to hear, khushi terrified, tears rolling down, a plea in her tone "that's not what i meant", this is where it really gets interesting for me: He puls her in even closer, the anger only becomes an excuse to be as close to her as can be. I am ☺️

"to batao mujhe kya matlab tha tumhara (then tell me what did you meant?)" his soft voice modulations here, it felt more like a flirty question than a threat. On her end, fear was present but throughout the moment her trust in him appeared again, and what's this? she's looking at his lips...Don't blame her !What say, BD?!😳

a part of her was not objecting to his nearness. His face softens with her tears, slowly her pain is reflected in his eyes too

He finally releases her, he looks at the door like he knew La was coming...keen ears and shatir dimaag is killer combo ASR!

Khushi needs a minuts to be by herself, wiping her tears, she looks down at the mark his tight fingers left on her hand, but then she feels it trying to figure it out, figure him out, but certainly not hating him for it... and he on the other hand, stands there apologetic, feeling every tear of hers magnified "hazzaar baar" (thousand times),

ashtonished at what this girl drives him to do, to react in ways he never did. Ofcourse with his parent's marriage, their barsi coming up, all played a role in elevating the situation, but there is no denying the forign things she makes him do.

I found a sweet closure to the intense scen above in the "rabba ve" moment that followed. The tension from what happened earlier is carried over into this scene by both of the immensly talented actors...staring down eachother...and he was just about to leave when Khushi's face started to flicker in the candlelight, thats all it took..." rabba ve"

she feels him looking at her, she looks back to find it true but he quickely looks away. She holds the candle up for La, and turns back to have another look, this time his eyes haven't moved an inch from her,

there was apology for hurting her, and mybe an acknowledgement from her. Her candle stick is tilted too far while she is engrossed in him, at the same time La is about to take a stumble...he is seen pushing the the candle away from Khushi while La fell...felt back to La here, Arnav Khushi were lost in each other briefly, until the "ouch" from La. Both are well aware of what just happened...it was no small deal

He helps La up and takes her inside, but under the moonlight, over the pool, their gazes upon each other are clear as day...no small deal indeed Uff! You have described this candlewala beautiful scene splendidly! 👏

This moment was the perfect "marham (remedy)" on the "zakhm"(boo boo) from the previous one. Somewhere she knew there was more to all of this, we are fortunate to find out what, in his room when Anjali comes but she just knows.

Special mention for my man, Sobti was beyond brilliant in these episodes. He carries every emotion off so perfectly!!! its really hard to take ones's eyes off of him, and not only because he looks alone are enough but the talent is UNBELIEVABLE. Especially in his room trying not to cry, gulping, and how he broke down when Anjali came with out going and ounce over board. mmmuuuaaas Barun! ME TOO! MMMUUUAAS BARUN!

i just saw your note on asr, character dheela, and having sex with la. agree with you that he had the deepest and most committed regard for his fam. would never do anything to hurt his sis's feelings and even if away from home, do those little things that made her happy, though he didn't believe in them.

and also, his relationship with la was touched by that sense of commitment, only that because he didn't believe in marriage, he was comfortable in a long term relationship without that formal label being given to it.

but while he certainly wasn't the sort to sleep around, my feeling, he did have sex with women with whom he had a long relationship. we only know of la, so i'll stick to her. personally,i do not think that if you have sex before marriage it means you are character dheela. it's the how why what of it that makes the difference. never bothered me to think that he and la were physically intimate. in fact, when she explains to khushi what live in means, the "bina shaadi ke sab kuch karte hain" leads to a samosa attack if you remember 😆. and it is precisely that which makes khushi catapult into project shaadi, because this indicates to her that a woman is being disrespected as there's no name being given to this rishta.

it actually offends khushi's own sense of morality, which she then decides has to be passed on to la by whatever means (so when talk of rukmani radha, etc., fails to make the cut, she paints the picture of old age, gray hair, and... la fills in the blanks, promptly converts) and somehow made acceptable to asr. a certain "manmani" in that, wouldn't you say? but she is sweet and 18 and full of goodness and love and the best of wishes for all, so i won't go after her for that. however it still is interference in other people's life and making them do what you believe is right.

in the matter of shaadi and character dheela, asr is not in the wrong. but uff that anger of his. especially around her. always crosses the line. always hurts her and that never fails to hurt him. so on a day that he is already awfully vulnerable, things go out of hand, and he's even more fragile.

no one is perfect, and thank g khushi and asr are not. which is why i still
return and watch them. sometimes i am all khushi, most times all asr. and their flaws almost relieve me. beautiful characters.

wish they'd gone deeper into the layers of khushi instead of flattening her suddenly and making her bahuria (the person no one wants to be but television insists we become).

do you think, when he hauled her so close to him and held her in all that anger and passion flying around, she felt something? was there just a little bit of arousal in her? did that confuse her too?

It was a very uphill task for ASR who decided to say sorry to Khushi for shouting at her and did not know that her parents had passed away and very amusing to see him trying to practice and for once on the receiving end very well enacted by Barun, both amusing and felt bad for ASR

Episode 81!!!!!!!!!!

The episode starts off with garima asking shashi if shyam is good…shashi was like after what happened to payal I don't know if I can trust anyone so easily…then all of a sudden buaji comes and said shyam is da bomb diggity and remember that shyam saved khushi's izzat…shashi is in thinking mode…and then said it is that khushi is our daughter and we are not her parents so we have a huge responsibility when it comes to her rishta…bua ji is like do you think of me as khushi's dushman…and garima is like no we are not saying no but just give us time to think (I love these parents, they are so understanding and think logically)

Khushi takes her parents to the mandir and she tells them how pretty it is and garima told her to be quiet because people are praying…khushi is making her prayer…and as she was praying arnav is walking to the mandir…he stops and he feels khushi or has the feeling that she is around…as khushi was finishing off her prayers (the scene was cute), her family was getting Prasad…the pandit sees arnav and signals that he is coming…khushi then feels something (you know the same one she gets when she feels arnav's presence)… she turns around but he is gone…she tells her parents that she wants to make a manaat and will be right back…as arnav was walking with the pandit he sees a little girl crying and she was telling him her story…arnav was touched…khushi goes to the pigeon stand and asked to buy one pigeon…the pigeon selling man was like one man bought it all…khushi was thinking but selfish man would buy so many pigeons and have so many wishes…she turns around and sees a kid jumping for joy…khushi was like atleast the kid got her wish…then the kid pulls arnav's coat and he turns around… khushi got the shock of her life….she sees arnav…the kid pulls arnav down and tells him that he is nice and she asked if her parents will be alright…he has no answer for this but he nods his head to give assurance…and then the kids kisses arnav cheek (I cannot believe I am jealous of a little girl)…khushi then leaves before arnav sees her

At the GH khushi walks in her room and asked her sister that is is possible that a person can be completely different than what they appear to be…she keeps talking to herself wondering how someone could be so different

At the RM, Anjali is calling shyam but he is not picking up…she was saying that he should pick up atleast today and be here…khushi comes in and hands her a handkerchief that she finds and Anjali as like it must be my husband…his name is shyam…khushi was like I have a PG name shyam too... Anjali was like okay in a sad way and walks off…khushi says to herself if her shyam is anything like my shyam he must be a good person (what bakwaas). Khushi notices all the pooja preparation and she gets excited and wants to know what the occasion is…she asks jp but before he can say anything khushi notices the pandit telling arnav to take a shower and stuff before the pooja…and khushi is like wow dm can even make an atheist come to a pooja…arnav hears this and turns around and gives her a look…

Shyam is talking to Anjali and she is telling him that arnav is in a bad mood…shyam then said that you should have called khushi to work on this day know how arnav is (he is just thinking of excuses so he can come to the house). While talking shashi hears shyam say Rani Sahiba..and shashi was like who is RS…shyam makes some excuse to avoid more of shashi's questions…shashi is still not convinced

At the RM khushi comes to know that it is arnav's parent's barsi and she goes to him to apologize…she said that arnav has his mom's eyes…arnav hears this and tells her to leave nicely but khushi still does not get the hint…and said she understand how he feels…arnav is like no you don't you don't know how it feels to light your mom's body on fire and then your father and then enter your house were you can never go back too…so don't tell me that you understand no one ever will…khushi starts to cry and arnav was like your tears might work on my family but not on me so don't waste them and he tells her to get out (very emotional scene)

At the GH shyam is giving tea to shashi and garima…and bua ji was just bragging about that fool like no tomorrow…then all of a sudden shashi grabs his right arm…he is having a heart attack and the episode ends. Will shashi be alright??? Will arnav find out that khushi understands his pain??

Episode 82!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The episode starts with Khushi walking out down the stairs upset. Nani calls for her. She wipes her tears and turns around only to find Nani lifting the heavy pooja thaal. She immediately goes to help . Nani asks her if she can get some gangajal (holy water) because she has to speak to the pandit about the pooja, Khushi seems reluctant but agrees to help. As Khushi is leaving with the gangajal, ASR comes and snatches the plate from Khushi and asks her what she's doing here as he'd asked her to leave. Khushi tries to explain but Arnav says that preparations for the shradh are only done by family members and he doesn't like false sympathies. He doesn't want to see her face on this day. She will get a lot of opportunities to be 'selfless' in front of Nani, she should just get out. Khushi is in tears and leaves. As she was leaving, she is stopped by Anjali. She notices something wrong and asks her about it. Khushi says she's fine. Anjali takes Khushi with her despite her refusals. Anjali is trying her best to console Khushi. She asks her if she's feeling uneasy because of the barsi's atmosphere and if she's missing her parents. Khushi says that there is no option. Those who go away, they don't come back even if we call them. We can only miss them. ASR is witnessing all this. Anjali says that her mother had always said that one should always cry one's heart out. Bottling up emotions does no one any good, letting them out makes one feel better. They both hug and ASR gets emotional seeing this. Anjali asks Khushi if she's feeling better. Khushi nods and asks her to carry on with her work; they'd already wasted a lot of time. Anjali leaves. ASR recalls the time he's shouted and snubbed her when she was trying to share his pain. He feels guilty seeing Khushi crying and genuinely repenting. Just then, a servant comes and asks ASR if he should keep his phone in his room. ASR says yes, he will sit in the pooja, not take calls. As he turns to Khushi, He notices she's gone. (Man this whole part was so emotional, I was a broken tap…I am glad arnav realized what he said was wrong…he is not the only person in the world who has lost his parents…he acts like only bad things happened to him in the past and no one else sometimes…and Anjali was a sweetie)

Bua ji telling Shashi that he's only had Shyam's tea at the moment. There are lots more to see and he makes amazing food. Shyam says that if Shashi wants, he can make it today itself. However at that very moment, Shashi starts getting a heart attack. Everyone panics. Shyam is calm and goes to get a doctor. (well someone has to me the calm one). The doctor gives injection to Shashi. Shyam asks Payal to control herself, (well she just witnessed her dad have a heart attack…kind of hard to calm down from that…but it was nice of him to calm down the atmosphere, I cannot believe I sort of praised him twice already). And said that she needs to take care of Garima and Madhumati too. Payal asks Shyam to inform Khushi. Shyam says he would. He takes his phone out reluctantly and says he can't get through her number. He says they'll try again. Doctor said he came right on time else it would've been a problem. He asks Shashi to rest. Payal tells Shyam to try Khushi again. Shyam says it's a no reply. Payal says she'll try.
Garima is very upset. Madhumati consoles her and says thank God Shyam handled everything. Garima says that Shyam saved Shashi's life. (Nahi!!!! Garima is Team Shyam now). The doctor gives Shyam some pills and says Shashi has heart problems and he can even get a heart attack. So in case he encounters such a pain again, he must immediately be given the pills and the doctor should be called. (The doctor told this to the wrong person…he can totally use this to his own advantage…the villains always get the good information). As Shyam sees the doctor off, Payal comes and tells Shyam that she, too, can't get through RM's number but there is some Rani Sahiba calling him up. He hurriedly takes the phone from Payal and says he'll handle it. As Payal leaves, his phone rings again. Shyam tells Anjali that he might not be able to make it. Anjali starts crying and says she never said anything on teej and their anniversary but if he doesn't come today then she'll not speak to him ever. Shyam tries to say something but Anjali cuts the call(Go, Anjali, show your man who's boss). Shyam thinks to himself that he's stuck (He sure is!!!!) Anjali's upset but he cannot go to the RM with Khushi around! (seriously how low is that…it is your wife's parents barsi…you should be with her and not worry about the other lady…well Anjali is only his ATM machine)

Meanwhile Arnav is looking for Khushi. A servant tells him she's left most probably. But he sees her talking to someone and recollects her and Anjali's conversation. A visibly upset and lost Khushi walk away from Arnav's eye sight once she's done. Khushi is leaving the RM. Arnav follows and calls out for her but all in vain. He is upset. (poor guy is just trying to apologize for all those harsh words)

Garima asking Shashi if he's fine. Shyam tells them not to be upset. The doctor has said there's nothing to worry about. Madhumati asks if he could get through RM's number. They must inform Khushi. Shyam says he'll try again. Just then the bell rings. Khushi is back. Shyam goes to open the door and Garima and Madhumati follow to inform her and Shashi tells Payal to get him a pillow. Shashi recalls Shyam talking to Rani Sahiba and takes his phone and jots down Rani Sahiba's number. (I have mention how much I love this dad). Khushi is panicking and upset that no one cared to inform her about Shashi's ill-health. Everyone tries calming her down. Shyam realises his phone is not with him. He goes to the room to get it and Shashi is quick enough to put it back in place as Rani Sahiba calls. Khushi comes and hugs Shashi. He consoles her saying he's fine. Shyam takes the phone and walks out. Shashi looks at Shyam's retreating figure suspiciously (he is the only one who can see past his faade and notices the odd coincidences) Shyam says he should leave. Khushi can take care of Shashi, he has important work pending. Madhumati asks him to return soon. He calls Anjali up and she cuts in call (Again you go girl!!!!)

Anjali and the other family members sitting in the pooja. Manorma passes a comment on how Shyam should've been here on time. Anjali looks at her and she shuts up. Arnav says that he's sure Shyam will turn up even if late (arnav always has to take his side, it annoys me). The pooja starts. Akash notices that Nani is pained. She has a sad smile on her face as she sees the garlanded photo of her late daughter and son-in-law. He puts a comforting hand on her shoulder. Arnav closes his eyes and recollects the happening of that fateful night when the terrible incident had happened. He clenches is fists recalling those painful memories and the garland from the photo falls (okay the first time I was convinced that one of his parents were alive…I mean the garland fell off from one side…in dramas that is a sign that, a person is still alive…I was sure wrong). Arnav opens his eyes and puts the garland right. His tear stricken face freezes as the episode ends.
