Scene starts at the RM breakfast table.
You can feel the tension in the air. Nani at the head of the table, Kushi sitting in "Chote's" chair, who by the way is ASR right now. He is sitting opposite her and if looks could kill, you would be lighting the fire right now on her pyre. Nani is trying to feed Kushi and just as she is about to take a bite of her toast, he glares at her, he gets a phone call and leaves the table. Ms. Kasyap, perhaps? Anjali follows and Manorama is given the signal by Nani to leave the table as well.
Nani asks Kushi questions about Lavanya and Chote's relation and Kushi spills the beans. The jolly Luknowian just happily shares what she knows until she realizes she made an, OOPS! Nani covers it up with a quick ,' I am the eldest in the household and I know everything. I am just checking what they know at work" Kushi talks about wedding saree etc. and Nani says it will never be allowed. Chote will never marry Lavanya. Nani is thinking he better banish that idea from his head now!!!
Meanwhile, Mami is eavesdropping in the other room!
Anjali followed Arnav and asks him why he is taunting this girl and he should take her with him to work. He says he doesn't take anyone with him.
He goes back to the table and sternly says to Kushi you didn't leave yet? There is a lot of work to do. Nani abrubtly stops him and ASR becomes Chote(the small boy) as he is being admonished by Nani who tells him to take her to work with him. His eyes roll and he is off to work. Kushi jumps ups and follows after being told not to be a stranger!
Outside the house ASR admonishes Kushi. He had had enough! She's in his home, taking his place at the table, getting under the skin of all that come to know her- and not in a bad way! BAS! Enough! Do not eat my food, talk with my Nani, Di or Mami. Reminding her of her status, as always, he says," I am not giving you a ride to the office, take a taxi!" When she goes to reply he says no one talks back to him! ENOUGH is enough, I can feel his tension and anger and I certainly don't feel the love or attraction here.
Now we play a game called telephone. Kushi tells Nani, Mami over hears and tells Anjali who now calls and tells ASR what Kushi told Nani! Uh, oh! Someone is in trouble. I feel the tension building the wall around ASR heart once again. This girl has crossed the limits!
Nani walks in and is deeply hurt by the two women of the Raizada household who have kept this information from her. She banishes Manorama from the room and Anjali apologizes profusely. She walks away...
AR Designs. Kushi walks in the door when she hears a loud, stern, "MISS GUPTA!!! COME TO MY CABIN IMMEDIATELY!"
She knows this is not good, everyone knows this is not good. She timidly walks up the stairs as she is being stared down by her boss. Even I want to run away!
He invites her in (even though he is beyond angry he stills invites her in to him), and says you are lucky I am even speaking with you. The contract and job are one matter but my personal life is another! How dare you! After everything you have done I wouldn't be even standing here with you for a minute! (But YOU ARE!) Why did you do that? There must have been an underlying motive- girls like you always have one. Again reminding her of her status and what kind of girl she is and what she intended to do and what she failed to do... she didn't lasso a rich man...he went on and on. She tried to stop him but to no avail. He pushes his files off his desk. He has had enough. He doesn't want to see her face. He banishes her to the guest house. He growls 'GET OUT!" She's just standing there..."JUST GO!" He has his back to her, she leaves he doesn't even look...it hurts to much to see her go.

Kushi at the guest house believes this is a good thing. It's a good thing to be away from that Laad Govenor, Raakshas, Demon!!! She won't have to meet him or see his face! She walks in, sees the workers and has to make a report which they say was already done. She calls her boss who says do it again! She looks for Sinha in the guest house, the writer of the report but they miss each other and she becomes barricaded in a room upstairs because of falling debris. Like a prisoner she is locked away , exiled, banished. She is now in her own living hell, her own jail because of that Laad Govenor!

RM: Lavanya meets "uncle" Prakash with a bang as she rushes into the house. water splashes on her and she rudely reprimands him. Nani's witnesses this and Laxmi comes , La gets angry shoos the goat and Nani and La meet. Happy to meet you says La ... NOT says Nani! Nani will be banishing La from Chote's life if she can help it!

Guest house is falling to pieces. Sinha gets the structural report and all are sent out. Where is the girl? Go look and get everyone out now!
All workers are banished from this place.

Gupta house...it's late Payal all worried for Kushi and Shyam says no worries she must be busy.
Nani calls ASR home. He goes to RM where he runs into Lavanya. She does a Mami, "hello, hy, bye, bye" call me later. He asks her why are you here and didn't tell me. She says Nani asked me and told me not to inform you. SEE YA!!!

The Gupta house worried Payal calls AR Designs gets the security officer who she begs for ASR number because Kushi not home. She give sthe number to Shyam to call. Hesitantly he calls and makes an excuse why he can't get through. She calls again and Anjali answers, he hangs up again.

RM-Nani and Chote. ASR?Chote Nani? why did you invite Lavanya hear without telling me? Do you think you can do this? This is my life, my decision.
Nani- This is not your office. I will make the decisions here when it comes to marriage. Do you all think you can keep things from me and I won't find out about it.
Lavanya will be banished from Chote's life if Nani can help it!!!

Guest house- Kushi in her banishment is crying asking her parents, sister anyone to come save her . Everyone has left, ASR this is all your fault. You are not human but a demon. She is locked in the tower, banished from all things.

Who will save this banished damsel in distress? Stay tuned and see...

Phone rings in the RM and Anjali goes to answer. In the Gupta House, Payal hands Shyam the phone and we see Shyam hang up quickly. Call disconnected. What is he hiding? Are we seeing a crack in his foundation?

RM- Again Nani's talks about her responsibility of picking a bride, "I will not allow such a girl who does not know how to talk to elders or herself and who doesn't even know how to dress to enter into this family."

NEXT SCENE: This is the greatest scene ever..parallel dialogues

Phones ring..

RM phone picked up by Mami and ASR's phone rings.

Payal calls Mami picks up

Sinha calls ASR

Everyone apologizing for calling

Sinha: Situation has gotten out of hand. ASR: You are being paid for responsibility

Payal: Kushi not here. Mami: Why are we responsible for her? You called wrong place.

Mami to Payal: You are worried? I have been worried all my life!

Both Mami and Sinha: Now tell me...

Sinha to ASR: The decision is yours, building can tumble at anytime

Payal to Mami: Let me talk with ASR. Mami to Payal: Pray to God

ASR: The workers are fine? Sinha: Thank God everyone is fine

Sinha: But Sir the girl? Mami: Kushi? Who's Kushi?

ASR turns to Mami

Mami: If she didn't come home, then why call us? KUSHI KUMARI GUPTA!... HMPHF! Hangs up.

ASR: THE OMG LOOK! Tries to call Kushi does not go through, he turns and literally walks / runs out door!

Nani hands over responsibility to Anjali of telling him when he comes home she wants to talk to him.

Guest House- Kushi in tears. Gupta House-Payal and Buaji in tears. Shyam takes the responsibility don't worry and he leaves.

Kushi in the guest house crying. Who is responsible for her? She cries for her family to come for her.

ASR is leaving a message for Kushi as he is entering his car, his psychiatrist's couch,

"Kushi,Come and meet me, your safety is MY responsibility!"'.JUST SHUT UP!

Who is he talking to the recorded message or himself? Yes, ASR, you are responsible for Kushi and her well being! You know and I know it. Your walls are tumbling down with the cracks and crevices made from your worry. Your heart is breaking. What happens if something happens to her?

JUST SHUT UP! Maybe you are angry with yourself for coming to same conclusion!

He gets in the car'the psychiatrist's couch,'.

Guest house- Kushi is fearful and still trying to find a way out. Holding on to her dupatta for dear life. It always shields her, her form of protection . She thinks her sister must be worried as she stares out the window, like a damsel in distress in the dark tower she awaits for her knight in shining armor to rescue her. "Devi Maya, who will come and save me?"

ASR driving in his car while on the psychiatrist's couch remembers his harsh words he said to Kushi and then Sinha's words of how dangerous the guesthouse situation is. I am hearing the creaks, the heavy burden of responsibility, is placing on the tumbling/ crumbling walls of his heart.

GH- Buaji is feeling guilty she is not upholding her responsibility of taking care of Kushi for her parents! Shyam says I will take care no worry!

Cut to ASR driving and Kushi crying waiting at the window. . She backs away, he pulls up. She backs up against a wall. There is danger all around. He is there. Something falls.. he runs in. (Blooper alert_ he runs in with sneakers and next shot he has shoes on, lol). He stops dead, looks around. I think he can't believe the devastation he sent her to. It seems she must know someone is there because she starts to bang on the door, ( she must know he is there). "Anybody there?"

He looks all around, his face worried. Debris falling like the pieces of his heart. He looks helpless, lost and then he finds her bag and phone. She is here! OMG!

Kushi's despair has overtaken her and she goes deep within, almost unconscious.

"KUSHI!!!"

She opens her eyes. He keeps calling her desperately and both are trying to get to each other.

He runs upstairs- he looks at the blocked doorway, he hesitates, she is at the door , she backs away and sits against a column, as he turns to go up the stairs, something falls within that room and he hears her scream. She prays "Devi Maya, protect me!" Little does she know her Knight in Messed Up Armor is outside the door, her protector, the walls are tumbling down in his heart but what about hers?

He bursts in the door, sees her, and takes the responsibility of saving her. He grabs her hand and pulls her,'her flowing hair unbounds from her braid and from the room they flee as the walls come tumbling down. We have a short RABBA VE here but the the music picks up.. escalating to new heights anticipating what is going to happen next. Then the crescendo where she stops'. He closes his eyes'.she looks like a wild woman, hair flying around, a Goddess full of power and strength and the walls of her weak attitude strengthen with a new found fortitude that even puts ASR to shame!

He knows HE is responsible for this but says," I didn't know." SHE PUSHES HIM that he tumbles back. She is a Goddess' Kali in all her glory'Shakti'watch out ASR.

"YOU DIDN'T KNOW?YOU ARE GOD RIGHT?" He Says, "Listen to me.." " NO! NO YOU LISTEN TO ME! MONEY DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT. GOD EXIST IN MONEY FOR YOU. LET THIS GIRL TELL YOU ABOUT IDENTITY NOT ONLY IS YOUR STATUS BUT YOUR LIFE IS BASED ON SHALLOW SUPERFICIAL THINGS. FROM THE MOMENT WE MET YOU SPOKE ABOUT STATUS'" SHE PUSHES HIM AGAIN!!!! '"WHAT DO YOU THINK I DON'T HURT?"

He can no longer look at her. "I HAVE NO RESPECT, NO FAMILY, NO PERSONAL LIFE? MY SISTER MUST BE CRYING ALL THE TIME! WHAT DO YOU CARE? YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT ANYBODY ELSE!"

SHE PUSHES HIM A THIRD TIME (3 number of completion),'.

He can't take it anymore...maybe the truth? He grabs her wrists and pins her up against a wall''to be con'td tomorrows epi'.

The walls are tumbling down all around them'who is responsible'how will they rebuild?

Thanks for reading 25 and 26 and liking 😳. I really enjoy getting into the things we see, there always seems to be more than what meets the eye. Never been adept at reading symbols, but the basic text is rich, full of unsaid things and feelings. So, those looong posts.

Yes we got to NY and Joh has started back working on his show which debuts tonight so keep your fingers crossed if ratings are high he keeps working lol I love reading your reviews sometimes I am in awe of your take. Eloquently written, just amazing! you truly have a gift and sometimes you see something and I am like oh yeah!!! I know what you mean about long posts but everytime I want to shorten mine I feel like I may be leaving out something important. The show's material is so rich and deep ergo those looong posts.

it was all because of the wretched rain.and as expected, though we saw a bit of sunshine yesterday, today again the skies darkened, the clouds came dark and grizzly, threatening, grim. the first ipk mahaepisode, 43 odd minutes long, telecast on 9 july 2011, episode 26 was designed with great instinct and built on the themes developing through the week. interestingly, despite all its destruction and doom, it really is a beautiful bridge between two contrasting emotions, both very powerful. a wild attraction that won't be allowed in. and a gentle, almost tender feeling that just wants to come out.

"kya hua, aaj phir tum gusse mein?" anjali's plaintive question to her scowling sibling was like the key signature of today's entire story. the main players: gussa and baarish.

rain as metaphor, rain as backdrop, rain almost as character, heightening every sense. what efficient use of a device. torrents of emotion breaking inside asr, into his carefully erected fortress. a shower of confusing feelings within khushi. what's happening, why is he like this, what's the matter, and why doesn't she walk away?


and the same rain, now in the physical sense, a destroyer, bringing down a structure. again a metaphor? asr's whole facade of unemotionality crumbling? the lightning breaking across, the thunder crashing into it, none other than the shattering attraction of this unknown girl from another world, almost another planet? her innocence, her feisty spirit, her attitude, her ability to be different, her indomitable spirit, all proving impossible to hold out against? oh that heartless rain, it was a day that had portends of disaster in. or maybe this is the only way love finds its path to some.

from the moment nani heard about lavanya from a very unguarded khushi (sometimes it is good not to speak so much, mmm or maybe not, maybe this is how it was meant to be, and dm was at work, for normally would khushi go all the way to when she saw them upstairs... interesting this motormouth in the usually circumspect ms jhalli), the mood was set. it was to be a day of confrontations and rage.

arnav singh raizada was incensed. he'd reached a another pitch of anger today. she'd crossed yet another limit. in his city. in his office. in his mind. his thoughts. but in his home? he was not allowing this girl in to this extent. even as his irritation gnawed at him, anjali's call came through. khushi had told nani about lavanya. that was it.

barun sobti's performance of cold, complete fury was at a level rarely seen anywhere my eyes and heart felt. the office quaked, air stilled, red lost colour, khushi made her terrified way upstairs.






"come in," said he almost gently.



from there to "get out... i said, go" was a series of insinuating questions and insults full of hidden layers and hints of what had come before. it was fascinating to watch the two, as though contenders in an arena, one intent on winning, the other clutching on hard, hoping to stay standing. a high pressure, claustrophobic environment. the long spots heightening the arena feel, the music deftly weilded, reftlecting the ins and outs of every emotion.

"tumhari kismat acchhi hai ki main
tumse abhi baat kar raha hoon...
yeh contract, job, sab ek taraf hai
par agar mere personal life mein koi interfere karta hai
toh main usse maafi mangne ka bhi mauka nahin deta..."

khushi knows she has transgressed, but she has no idea how completely he guards his private life. no one is allowed in. even di has limited access. this is the boy who had to take a lot of zimmedari at a young age. and his private world is his space. certainly no one is allowed to discuss it, especially behind his back. a similar coldness enters his eyes when he sees lavanya at rm later, why didn't you tell me you were coming here?

"galati meri hai, ki tumhari aukat jaante hue bhi maine tumhare saath yeh contract kiya...
mujhe yaad rakhna chahiye tha ki
tum jaise logon ki
niyat kabhi saf nahin hoti."

khushi's eyes widened at that. my ears pricked up. what? tum jaise logon...? got the feeling, in his anger he was losing his sense of space and time and other people, other incidents from his life were strolling in, becoming part of the tirade.


"kuch toh maqsad hoga...
kyonki yeh toh main jaan gaya hoon ki tum jaisi ladkiyan kuch bhi bina matlab ki nahi karti"

huh? girls like you? who're these girls he refers to? who does he know who did things for a matlab?

"kya soch rahi this tum...
pareshaan hogi
kyonki itni koshish karne ke baad bhi
...
kissi ameer ladke ko phassa nahin payi!"

and with that final insult, khushi is broken. while something tells you, ah so there was a a scheming woman and a rich man somewhere in this man's life. an incident that has left him with a lack of trust in women other than those in his family, of sharing any real and deep emotion with them, of betrayal and endless anger.

that's why maybe: arnav singh raizada ko kissi bhi ladki se koi faraq nahin padta. he is not a misogynist, but his faith in women and relationship is badly damaged. which is why i could identify with his disquiet at khushi's impact on him, it was not just a man being arrogant, there was almost a fear in him. of doing something wrong, while getting carried away by his feelings for a woman. (his father had obviously done much worse than just have an affair with a simple young woman; and that woman was not so simple, even though that's what we were told in the end.)

shaking with fury, he sends her away, refusing to see her face anymore. tears well up in her eyes, but he has turned away, go to the guesthouse and work from there for the rest of your time at ar. i said go.


he seems to have left sparks of his rage at home. for nani picks them up and becomes strangely asr like in her quest to know and get control of the situation. lavanya is summoned. and though there are some lighter moments with lakshmiji and the short dress. the "hum nani hai" segment is edged with a flintiness, similar to that in his eyes.


and lavanya, though seemingly shallow and self absorbed, i mean did you see the way she screamed at rahim chacha, has more to her. there's a certain can do spirit in her quick change to namaste naniji and lakshmiji; and an endearing glimpse of a slightly unsure girl in her, "sorry naniji, next time se main lambi dress pehenke aaoongi, salwar kameez..." then warming to the theme, "by the way, mere paas ek sari bhi hai, designer one." asr means much to her, and she is smart enough to know she'll have to "adjust" a bit to get on the right side of his family. a young girl, city bred, ambitious, willing to go out there and get what she wants, there were things in her i sort of always liked. and behind that cold me first attitude, an interesting girl with a heart and a tenderness. but right now, just like khushi, she is trapped, albeit in the rock steady and plush environs of rm.


time is ticking by, looks like rain. khushi's not back home, payal is getting edgy. she calls everyone she can. while asr sits there, still wrapped in gussa, refusing to take calls.


"ek khushi aur ek yeh sinha. dono milke mera dimaag kharab kar denge."

did he just call her khushi? oh that sounded lovely. he puts down the phone in the middle of her call. he has no idea the guesthouse is dangerous. everything is crafted to perfection to bring us to a moment that will again change his life.



two gussas clash as nani and chhotey face each other. i find his view of life and marriage interesting. crisp, meaningful, no fuss. marriage is about happiness between two people. this man's mind is so contemporary. and it is intriguing to watch him clash with tradition. though he is younger, says apparently selfish things, what he says you know is valid.

"yeh poori zindagi ka sawal hai."

"meri zindagi ka sawal hai."

nani is unhappy with what happened with his mama, obviously mami is not a girl of her choice.

"mama aur mami iss shaadi se khush hain. aur kissi bhi rishtey mein wahi baat sabse important hai."
good point. but did he know of a rishta where this happiness was lacking though it seemed to be a traditionally "good" match, you can't help but wonder.


two ladkis and a terrible impasse. nani declares one girl is not good enough to be bahu of family. and the other girl? "kaun si ladki? kaun ladki andar aayi thi? kahan hai woh?" khushi is stuck in a collapsing building. alone, aghast, banging doors trying to get out, then sitting down helplessly whimpering, crying for help from her loved ones.

"bas. bahut sah liye. ab aur nahin sahenge."

at last, the gussa is carried on a gust of wind and reaches her. scared, confused, petrified, but an anger growing within. wonderful performance by sanaya. from chatty khushi to hurt, insulted, terrified, and now feeling shards of rage khushi.



asr's eyes are getting icy on nani's words, khushi stares unseeing at the storm outside and wreckage within. episode ends. the tension is palpable. asr signature tune fades in and up.
