I agree with you about ASR's character, but Barun really brought his character to life. I'm sorry if you don't agree but it's my opinion. The actor is a huge part of the character. When you think of the character you picture the actor.

I just wanted to add 1 more thing too ... Not comparing but angry young man like ASR ate many infact there is 1 pretty much same in qubool hai but that has not clicked with me as the actor did not appeal to me ... No offense to actor I had never seen either Barun or KSG earlier so just saying a point .

probably true..but then again I can't comment with an unbiased point of view as I have utterly hated KSG from the first second I saw him in KZK like 7yrs back...and I love Barun...

well Barun has that brooding, darker good looks that a very few actors n TV have...it is usually very fair but chocolate boy look is the regular actor's appearance on TV now a days (at least most of the popular ones among youth, not TRP leading ones I mean who doesn't have anything good looking about them:s)

Barun is on one hand very fair..but somehow in some moments darker..this added for that sinfully sexiness that somehow went perfectly with the perfect M&B hero aura of the role..
u know the quintessential tall, dark, handsome thing...

I don't agree completely. It was both the actor and the character. Looking at all crazy fan following of barun even after the show had already lost it in so many ways , storyline , characters ... I for a while thought the same, I've even commented in some of the fan posts that it was the character not the actor ... But now since I've started watching other shows again and have also started watching IPK again on YT , I can see the difference.
I don't think any one else besides barun and Sanaya could've done it so magnificently. They did put life in the characters. I'm not saying there are no better actors than him but yes he has that outstanding talent which possibly wasn't brought out till he did ASR. I haven't seen such acting by anyone yet on television and I have watched a lot of shows since I was a youngster...even Sanaya I liked her since her previous show, but saw her real talent through IPK. I liked her in MJHT but was not that crazy about it.
So yes it was a joint effort the character , the actor and of course the direction and creatives ...

Same here IPK was my first show where I saw barun and I do watch QH once in a while. I feel exactly the same. KSG also it's his first show I'm watching that's QH , never seen any of other shows by both of them and may b they even trained KSG like they trained barun but still not the same. KSG is a good actor though , no offense .

O

Haha, you are like me, I didn't like KSG from the first moment I saw him in KZK. There are very few actors who appeal to me, and by far, Barun is the only one that has made me admire him offscreen and onscreen. He is the most lovable guy, actor, and human being, than most actors out there on Television. Best thing honest, down to earth, loves his wife, has no air despite his large popularity, doesn't care about what others say, does his work, goes home, and lives his life. I like that in a guy. No matter how you are popular, one must learn to keep personal and professional life separate and private. He has no attitude, no show off. In one word, a genuine guy and a talented actor like Barun Sobti is hard to find in today's world. Wish I get this lucky when the time comes. He is what any girl would want to have in their life.

Wonderful analysis of ASR! I agree with you on most points except that it was merely the character that seduced us and not the actor. While ASR was the most well scripted and consistant characters of the show, it was Barun's portrayal of ASR that floored half the viewers. Barun is one of the most subtle actors I have seen on Indian screens. Time after time with effortless fineness Barun portrayed ASR's conflict, his guilt, his regret and finally his submission! I keep going back to re-watch scenes where Barun, with a absolutely no words and minimal expressions speaks volumes!!! The close-up of Barun's face right after Payal and Akashes sangeet, when Khushi get the Natraj murti, is priceless to watch! Or the scene where he forces Khushi to say sorry to him in exchange for the ring.

I am not saying that no once else could have done justice to the role, All I am saying is that Barun took a well written character and ran with it...and hooked a jaded, PBS watching, NPR listening, dull viewer and turned her into a fan for life!

Just my opinion... No offense meant!

@bold - I love that and totally relate to it! made even a non TV watcher a fan for life! Can' t believe the things I'm doing because of him and this magical pair - it shocks even me sometimes :)

But what to do...it just makes me happy to see them!

yes so agree with you i have been mentioning this earlier too. Gul indeed had a very good characterization of the ASR, she has made him the whole man 😆 with issues making him surreal 👏

the guy will go to any length to avoid falling in love, stubborn , hot headed and has a past which haunts him, yet he is arnav who is very caring to his di 😳

for me i think the whole concept appealed from contrasting in kushi and arnav to the sameness in their characterization.
The anticipation of change from ASR to arnav because kushi is and the most USP of the show , hence after marriage it had kinda of become non-interesting.

also everybody blames gul about her interest in closing the show after BS left. forget sep/oct time frame, if it was my project then also i would have felt the same thing because she had picked BS and SI after auditioin and BS wants to leave would have been devasted her
hence to close the shop and open new one with the more reliable guy. yes indeed may be like loosing hope and panicking may be she would have given a thought but poor lady must have felt very bad killing her own creation .

i never watched SBS/SBB except teri meri song which has come more beautiful in SBS than in real show . Even SBB/SBS was more of publicity and i never liked spoilers as it actually spoiled the fun.

sorry for using your post to lament.

sunara love reading your post these days. exactly i agree with you BS was fit into role and i recall directors making him , i am not taking away from the fact that BS did a good job, but yes can it be done by anybody else , yes it could have been history says so. BS and all of us were lucky that he got that but the turn of events left a bad taster . hence i would rather prefer a on an average show and a lasting one than a huge one which falls as fast as it goes up 😭
