A beautiful post! Totally agree with you. Sita was no abala nari. She lived life in her own terms and so should Khushi. I would much rather if the CVs show her this way than another SP Bahu.

We compare Indian women to Sita who didn't accept Lord Rama because he falsely accused her.. but will we be able to see Kushi ditching Arnav?
Also I don't think we are ready for a leap yet.. and I am hoping this was a dream (even though I am anti Ekta :-)

I keep going back to these lines in your post.
A few months back, I would have agreed. Khushi stood up to ASR, held on to her to her convictions and beliefs through everything, and made her own decisions. She took up a job, she tried to help her family. She asked for no favors, needed no help. Yes, that is indeed a woman of substance who carved her own path.
But when I see her today, I don't see that anymore. I see a woman who lets everyone around her dictate her life for her. I see a woman who has let her dreams get trampled for the happiness of others. I see her compromising on her traditions, going against her value system.
If she controlled her own destiny, is this the life she would have chosen for herself? Would she want to live under the same roof as Shyam? Would she have chosen physical intimacy outside the bounds of marriage?
I don't think so. This woman is no longer in control, the reins of her life are in so many other hands.
And yes, you are right. Vaidehi was strong. She made her choices, and chose to live her life the way she believed was right. I don't see Khushi doing that anymore. Just my opinion.
Thanks for the thought-provoking post, Maxine!

I agree with most of what you said. Which is exactly why I dislike drawing parallels between mythology and daily soaps. Mythology, to me is sacred. Daily soaps are...well...daily soaps. This post was about Vaidehi, and her 'trials and tribulations.' Khushi has very little to do with it. Just trying to put Vaidehi in a different perspective from the usual 'abla nari, pativrata patni' hogwash.

Lovely post Vidhya...very thought-provoking!!!!

I doubt the cv's have that much clarity really. ...

...Ofcourse they'd love to think they are doing something on the lines u've mentioned but in the end their character Khushi is a SP heroine...she will like the other SP heroines again just follow the trend... do the mahaan sacrifices she has always been prone to[without consulting anybody]. First feel betrayed & then when Arnav comes back to her...she'll decide to stay away for his own bhalaayi kind of stuff.

I don't even think she'll be pregnant...and if she is then she'll lose it for sure in some Shyam orchestrated sequence. I feel the deed was done to show that she is now fully committed to him by going the whole way...now she can't commit to anybody even if she wants to...u knw wht i mean😕. Men[chances of new faces to be introduced] will come & go in her life but there is only 1 soulmate and tht is Arnavji.

And so it will continue...the track will get dragged...but again i'm thinking they'll think 'kuch naya dikhayenge' and they'll show Khushi pretending to be perfectly fine and overacting + comedy thrown in 10 episodes. and then a 1 minute scene showing her crying privately...get wht i mean.

I've sort of lost hope. I cd stamp my feet in frustration really...they've got a good plot, good actors but they'll ruin it with their own hands.

Anyways I really liked ur take on the whole thing[tho u didnt exactly commit to anything anywhere😆]...and I really didnt know that much abt Sita...so it was interesting.

...keep em coming😛.

All I can say is I am bad with the aftermath but I have faith in Devi Mayya and I see Devi Mayya has faith in Khushi.

Somewhere the higher power has to come into play.

Just wanted to share...
A renowned author (Nabaneeta Dev Sen) has a story where the Patal pravesh of Vaidehi was actually a silent mechanism that Ram had had secretly built under the floor of his Raaj sabha to ensure Sita did drop down.
Sita had this tendency of threatening Ram with patal pravesh (dharti phat kyun nehi jaati main ussme sama kyun nehi jata type). Its said she had threatened him much during their Jungle mein mangal days and Ram was ready to use it to his advantage some day.
Kind of a longish RES. But as I said...please bear with me till I see the epi.

I will wait patiently.

In the meanwhile, I will go find this story you speak of.
