RC - don't worry... Me and CB are friends. I meant it as a joke and it is a continuation of an earlier post in another thread. I am sure CB got it. We might seems to be at loggerheads but assure you we do not keep any ill feelings at heart. We even PM each other.

But again sorry for spamming the thread. Peace.😉

Firstly, you are entitled to your opinion.

Secondly, I don't agree with you. 😳

I personally feel Barun Sobti is a great actor...one of kind IMO. When people talk about expressions a lot of people tend to like theatrical expressions. When many people talk about acting, a lot of people tend to prefer methodical acting. Barun Sobti is all about subtlety.

I didn't watch much of his work before IPKKND. But I do remember the first time I noticed him as actor. While switching channels I happened to watch a late night repeat of an episode of his last show BHPH and in that scene, he screamed...Just get the hell out of here...I remember jumping from my seat not only because I was startled but also because the power of his voice amazed me. I was literally shivering for seconds. My instant reaction was...Man he's good.

Later when IPKKND promos came on air...I was even more awed. There is particular shot in the promo 4 where Khushi picks up some papers from the floor and stairs at her through the window. That's when it's said in the background... Kyunki mohabbat in mein dard banke rehta hai. Back then we didn't know who ASR was...we didn't know about his dark past...but the pain and his longing for Khushi was evident in his eyes. It made me wonder why he cannot love this girl. If you mute the volume and rewatch the promo you can still feel his pain.

As ASR he has portrayed a wide range of emotions.

Being devoid of emotions...Yes that is an emotion too. In the initial episodes people found him wooden, expressionless. But back then, ASR was supposed to be like that...cold, unfeeling. He voice had to sound dead, his face had to look blank most of the time except for the occasions where he had to look smug.

Expressing pain / affection...There are lot's scenes with Anjali where they remember their past. I remember one scene where after Anjali faints from fasting ( Back in June 2011)...They have a bro-sis moment there where....Di aap meri family ho...aap sab kuch ho. He makes it look real.

Portraying love, desire, attraction, sexual tension...he excels in all of that. There are so many moments...where do I even start?

Portraying anger /rage ... The 15th February scene where he breaks down and screams his lungs out.

Comedy... He is great at that too. There were so many Arhi scenes where we died laughing.

After ASR is kidnapped there is one particular scene where ASR hallucinates Khushi...he beautifully portrays his joy of seeing her and at the time his disbelief that she's really there. When she carasses his face...it was like he was waiting for this moment all his life.

Another favorite scene of mine was during Jiji tera jethji deewana where he bursts out laughing. I never understood what people meant by tears of joy. I never really cried when I was happy. After Arnav burst out of laughing, I was so happy that I had tears in my eyes...as if ASR was real.

There is another scene during the kidnapping track where he beats two of the kidnappers senseless. He didn't have any dialogues in that episode but you won't even notice until someone points it out.

As for his dialogue delivery...well I am not Indian but I have been watching Bollywood movies since I was a kid and I am fluent at Hindi and I can even read a little bit.

I never had any issue understanding his dialogues...I don't have to rewatch his scenes and watch in low volume because I hate any loud noise. Besides the sound of voice completely melts me. I died when he said Hi. 😍

I have watched a lot of Bollywood movies...Yes there are better actors. Acting is a craft and just like any other craft, it gets better with practice. But that doesn't make him any less. Just because he is a TV actor, it doesn't make him less talented. 😳

In the movie Black, there was a little girl who played the young Rani (forgot the name of character). She was no less than the Rani in that movie. Age or experience doesn't always matter.

As for his looks, I find him very good looking...I think he has great features. Chiseled but not too sharp or too not hard on the eyes. His profile is amazing.

Anyway...this is just my opinion. I am a Barun Sobti fangirl. 😳

Thanks for the post...I got the opportunity to praise him once again. 😉

PS : I really don't know what to say to anyone who finds Arnav in love cringe worthy. This is Arhi's love story...how can people watch it if they find 'Arnav in love cringeworthy'? 😕

Excuse the typos...there are many 😳

Actually that was not my opinion on the whole but a general deduction from the forum reaction. I am person of art, that is what i do.

Eventhough I don't make posts here often i've been here for about two months and every time Arnav does anything remotely 'fluffy' there is an uproar, you don't have to take my word for it but do check it out. 😊

Perhaps I should change the words from love to lovey-dovey. That's actually what i meant.

PS- It was just my way of stirring up the cauldron for some debate, I assure you Arnav is love is a joy.

First of all congratulations on such a brave or a rather foolhardy
I opt for the former. Bravery and truth on this Forum can be challenged by the youthful diehard fans when it comes to any'negativity' as far as BS is concerned
This being my first Indian drama serial I have nothing else to make comparisons with. Neither speaking the language nor understanding it has me at a disadvantage as I am dependant on subtitles or the benevolence of my kind friends.
Never has a drama serial enticed and induced me and kept me going inspite and despite its turbulent journeys of the good, bad and indifferent
Key to this for me has definitely been the two lead actors, BS and SI.
The tangible chemistry, their intractions , their role plays bouncing of each other and their delivery points has had me glued to my seat in eager anticipation awaiting the next episode and the next and the next
BS's acting skills up to a point are incredible. His emotes rather well, a tour de force, much to my delight, as I have found some of the BW actors rather OTT and extremely garrulous and loud
Our BS in his subtlety is mermerising. His facial expressions mirrroring a zillion emotions changing in nano seconds is very commendable and admirable. I am in all honesty as yet to come across any other male lead as good as BS in this department
Then we come to his oratory springboard. Mumbling is an artform? Well in that case Mr Sobti is way past the Masterclass of Mumbledom! Is he talking to himself? Has he forgotten his lines? He is seeking help from our enchanting SI? Plus he seems to get away with it
The production team have no say in this matter?
This is charming when someone is incoherent?
He lacks dancing skills. That has been seen I believe.Although one could easily overcome this debilatation with some coaching and training. Piece of cake ...one would hope
People skill is sadly lacking which I believe to be an important part of one's overall entrance and acceptance into BW. Charm in itself is not enough. Captivating your interviewer and your audience is an acquired skill and an artform in itself. One is a natural or one hast to adapt and learn these skills. Goofy voice holds no appeal as a matter fact its rather annoying
Pleasing your public and keeping them happy is a criteria to actor who wants to make it big time is as neccessary as breathing. SRK and AB come to mind. The public adore them and lets face it SRK is not all that in the acting department but he loves his fans. They forgive him his other discrepancies. The fans make or break and actor/actress.
As for BS' s comparison to BW actors , my vote is out I am afraid.
Potential is definitely there. With the right backing and exposure who knows where it can lead to.
An actor is only as good as his co-star. In this series the two leads make this entire show
Ying and yang. Romeo and Juliet. Katherine/ Kate and Petruchio.ASR and Khushi Kumari Gupta. Brought to the screen by their sizzling cohesiveness and chemistry, Sanya Irani and Barun Sobti
In short Barun Sobti is raw material. Unpolished , unvarnished and still rough around the edges. Buff him up and who knows ...the world's his oyster? Maybe
Time will tell
In the meantime the very best of luck Barun Sobti
Break a leg

Well For ME BARUN is Just Doing Great and there is always Room for Improvement no matter If its Amir or SRK

bt i m saying about the line in Red That IF an Unpolished Raw Metarial Has this Much Value in Market and a Crazy Fan Following Like THIS, Well the Bollywood is not Ready to Handel The Polished Barun Sobti

# I m very happy to read the Posts Here Cuz Its a great pleasure that Barun is being Compared with the Like of Actors who has been in the Industry when He was in school in love with His Wife 😆.

Barun has qualities(other then his awesome acting) that manny Bollywood greats Lacks

and only in a Short time and only in the Small Screen Barun has Got Recognition like non other before Him. Love Barun Sobti and I always Pray For His success am Proud To be A fan Of Barun

While the debate is still heated up, I'd really like to point the fact that Barun NEEDS to remain well-groomed while he is playing ASR. As an actor, you must leave your own personality behind to get in the skin of the character you are portraying. And as far as I know, ASR is not one who is inspired by Rapunzel.

Haaahhhaaa.

So true. Some nice combed/cut hair with a decently shaven face can go a long way!

😆 Rapunzel is a treat to watch. I love her.

Agree that the shaven and cleaned up face are a must.

But I am against the hair cut. The long gelled up hair of ASR gives a m'man of the house' look to ASR. I loved them during havan scenes. It highlights the age difference of khushi and Arnav and I feel it matches with the characterization.

Ya I can see curses and tomatoes coming from either side of the forum😉. Still i stick my point, no hair cut please. Just trim it sobti jaan.
