All for Love. Nothing else.
Love is not love,
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no! It is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken.
~ William Shakespeare (Sonnet CXVI)
Always loved this extract from the above Sonnet... captures the essence of true love in such simple words weaved so beautifully together! Arnav's Flashbacks just brought these lines to my mind!
You know when people's true colours come out clearly? It's when they are pushed to the extreme of their limits and they have no other way to combat the situation than display the true individual they are deep inside. Their hidden desires, hidden wishes, hidden agendas, schemes, wants, needs, desires, thoughts, ideas, plans - all come forth when they are backed into a corner and the only way out is to show that side of themselves which they so carefully kept all to themselves all this while.
Shyam has finally shown Khusi what extents he can go to when things don't go the way he wants them to. Her confession of her love for Arnav sets him back - he always knew that she did have a soft corner for Arnav, but he never heard her voice it out until today.
"Woh hamaare pati hai, hum unse behad pyaar karte hai!"
I was rooting for a nice, tightly aimed slap on Shyam's cheek from Khushi, but chalo, one heavy verbal slap she gave him with the above statement!
I have always maintained that it is not lust Shyam has for Khushi, and by now everyone knows that it certainly is not love that he holds for her. I have always said that Shyam has an 'Obsessive desire' for Khushi. I had explained in a previous post too, that an obsessive desire is like wanting a toy by all means. It's attractive and you want it to be yours and yours alone. You will do anything to get it, and if snatched away from you, you will try and ensure that no one else gets it.
Digging around Shyam's character finally paid off... this is my extract from my analysis in
IP Redux: Nemean Lion :- "The depth of loss, the depth of his defeat can spur Shyam in any direction. He will of course cover himself up as usual and blame the whole thing on Khushi. But, it will be worse than that for Khushi, a man like Shyam won't let her get off so easily. Obsession can go to dangerous heights - some people are so selfish, that they can kill the one they desire - they follow the logic that, if they can't get their desire (person), then no one else will be allowed to get that desire (person) too.Deadly viper he is - Shyam!"
Isn't this exactly how Shyam was today? He proved it by his line, "Hum jis cheez se pyaar karte hai Khushiji, agar who hume nahi mil sakti toh who kisi aur ko bhi milne nahi denge".
There are two factors that are included in the reason behind Shyam doing what he did and saying what he said:
One was: Being an obsessed person, he would really be unable to stand it if his desire belonged to someone else. Khushi is his, and his alone, If he can't have her, then the selfish greedy man that he is will not let her be anyone else's too.
The Second was: Killing two birds with one stone. He knew that Arnav chasing them would inevitably come the same way. By binding Khushi and placing her in the middle of the road, it was a perfect plan to make Arnav crash headlong into Khushi, and Arnav getting into an accident himself. Arnav wouldn't get Khushi, Khushi wouldn't get Arnav, and Shyam's way to wealth would be open (according to him).
Khushi was quite right when she told him on Friday "Aap ye sab sirf paisa aur jaydad ke liye kar rahe hai."
It was brilliant the way they showed how Khushi figured out what Shyam is doing all this for, while Shyam never figured out (until now) that Khushi was doing all her drama for Arnav. From what he knew of her, a girl like Khushi wouldn't stoop to underground levels but Khushi clears it all up for him:
"Hamaare jeete ji, Arnavji ke saath hum yeh kabhi nahin hone denge... Hum Arnavji ke liye kuch bhi kar sakte hai... hum aur bhi gir sakte hai..."
And she rightly points out the difference too between Shyam and herself, that she did it all for love. If she stooped low, then it was only to correct her former mistakes, to find Arnav who was trapped because of her, to get to him, and be with him - all for love.
Shyam stooped to low levels for greed, selfishness, obsession and mad desire.
"Zameen Aasman ka faraq hai" said Khushi to Shyam. She is not greedy, nor is she selfish, all she is, is a girl in love, who will walk paths that scare her to death just for love's sake.
All for Love. Nothing else.
Khushi has come to know a lot about Shyam by now, and today she witnessed the deadly man he can be. His whole real character is now laid out in front of her - she alone knows right now the murderous man behind the smooth mask that he wears in front of others. She is still to learn that he is the cause behind her father's condition. That day I wouldn't be surprised if she gives him a hard punch!
Armed with this knowledge Khushi will keep her eyes on Anjali as much as possible, and will see to it that no harm comes to Anjali. There is still time for this... have to see how it all goes.
I loved the scene where Arnav hears Khushi scream and they both look at each other. Arnav's eyes soften, relief floods his haggard face, his happiness (Khushi) is before his eyes, aching to get to him, the pain in her eyes on being imprisoned by a set of vile hands, the longing to be together again, fighting the evils together... lovely scene!
Then another heart-pounding scene followed: The tires of Arnav's jeep missing Khushi by a fraction of millimetres! The poor girl all gagged and bound from head to toe is unable to warn Arnav, helpless to signal him, her eyes first widen in hope when she sees him coming, then a flash of fear hits her as she sees his jeep coming straight into her, just in the nick of time Arnav sees his Khushi laid out in the middle of the road and desperately turns the steering wheel to avoid running over her, causing him to crash into a tree and hitting his head on the steering wheel.
Hint for the future: Arnav is going to be by Khushi's side, he is not going to allow her to be hurt because of him. He will save her, keep her safe and will do all he can to protect her. The times have changed for them - for good - love has been established between them (to a certain extent) and it is this love that will keep them together no matter what.
The moment he goes to untie her, the goondas reach there and we see ASR back - thinking things through. Remember, ASR has always been practical, he considers all angles before taking a decision, he lists out pros and cons in his head before taking any step forward. He remained true to his character, ASR is impulsive only when emotions take control of him, here his mind was still at work.
He was very clever - he waited till the goondas were OFF their bikes, he must have considered what could have happened had they still been on bikes while he was untying Khushi, probably tried to dash into both of them. So, he waits till they leave their mean machines and only then rushes to free Khushi from her bondages.
He manages to untie one knot I think because Khushi soon loosens it and unties herself.
The ensuing scene was one which left me with nail marks on my cheeks. The whole scene was sad. Both Arnav and Khushi helpless in the hands of the goondas. Arnav being thrashed around trying to save Khushi, while Khushi in the clutches of Lallan having to see her love, her husband being beaten about mercilessly.
Both were desperate to sacrifice themselves for the other, just so that the other would be spared of pain, not realizing that seeing the other sacrificing themself for the other was the greatest pain for both of them!
The moment of love comes when Khushi screams out her saviour's name 'Arnavji'' and Arnav looks up to see his love falling backward into the abyss. The whole world stops for him, that moment as he helplessly sees the girl he has come to love falling away from him, far from his protection and he cannot face that AT ALL.
He has saved her too many times in the past, times when he didn't know why he was saving her, or what made him save her. It was almost an inborn instinct in him - to keep her safe, protect her from all harm, hold her safely and save her from any misfortune. But he always knew, even then, that it wasn't just instinct, it was something else guiding him to her, to be her saviour - always.
He sees her slipping away from him, the girl who dropped into his arms - where their journey together began, the girl who he saved from an accident - when the beginning of attraction toward her began, the girl whose earring got stuck in his shirt - when the attachment started growing from both sides, the girl whose ring finger he bandage in the presence of Devi Maiyya- when even in furious anger he cared for her, the girl whom he cleared dust from her eyes for - when he started to care a bit more about her, the girl for whom he replaced her mother's payal - when he understood the value she maintained for it and honoured her value by returning it. In all those instances he saw his care, his love, his protection and security for her drawn out in front of him - crystal clear about why he had always seen to her safety.
She screams out to him again, and he sees his wife calling out to him, calling out for his safe arms, for his strength to lift her, for his care to embrace her, for his love to hold her close to him just like all the times before.
He remembers putting the mangalsutra around her, a piece of value, an ornament of commitment and love, a force that bound them to one another. He had mocked it then, but the strength of their love lay in it. The holy fire was a silent witness to the divine thread binding them, though they did not know it at that time.
He remembers the sindoor he ran through her parting - a mark of him running through her, a colour of him painting her, a symbol of him being with her in all stages of life, in all times, standing by her, safeguarding her and following the sacred vows that the holy fire before them silently pronounced.
He had claimed at that time:
"Yeh shaadi sirf ek samjhauta hai, duniya ke nazaron main hum pati-patni ban ker rahenge, lekin sirf 6 mahine ke liye. Na main kabhi tumhe apna biwi manoonga, nahi tumhe biwi ka darza doonga."
Classic ASR reverse psychology technique at that time. He said all that he didn't really mean; and now, as he stands frozen, watching his wife fall back, he recognizes the importance, the sanctity and the value of marriage, and most importantly, the importance of his wife Khushi in his life. But, married or not married, he was always a husband to her - he maintained each of the sacred vows throughout their journey together.
He took care of her during the Nainital trip, he beat up the goondas over there for her, he saved her each time she was in mortal peril, he reached out to her with care even in anger, and apologized to her when he knew he had hurt her, he was his best and his worst with her, he stood by her side when people pointed fingers at her, he accepted her as she was, and all in all loved her deeply and resolutely even when his heart was cruelly shattered and mercilessly broken.
Love is not love,
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no! It is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken.
His love for her never changed. Whatever happened, whatever misunderstandings, apprehensions, doubts, pain, distrust, and disappointment that came their way - he always loved her. Nothing could erase his love for her, because, his love for her is just like a beacon of hope - always there, flashing down on them, bringing light into their lives, guiding them into the safe harbour, and weathering every storm that comes their way. That is what kept drawing Khushi to him. The beacon of hope, a fixed star of love in the vast sky of turmoils - a deep seated knowledge that he is her safety harbour, her lifejacket, her protective man who will always save her no matter what the cost.
Like every other time, he fought the gonndas, just like he fought the situations before, fought the people, fought the circumstances to save her. He was bound by love, dedication, purity, care and longing to Khushi.
He wasn't going to let the string of pearls binding them break so easily. He broke the pearl string before, but this time, he is going to keep it intact, saving it, caring for it and holding it safely.
All for Love. Nothing else.

SYMBOLISM NOTE:
Khushi bound and gagged: This had me thinking of Khushi in terms of the past as well as the future. She has kept quiet for so long now about Shyam (gagged) and wasn't able to tell anyone the whole truth about Shyam (bound) - this was in the Past. However, when the time comes (Future), she will unmask him successfully - with a little help from Buaji, Bauji, Arnav and whoever else comes to know about Shyam.
The marriage FB: Re-marriage on its way, re-marriage on it's way!!! Hoorah, hurrah.. re-marriage on it's way!! Dhin-chak, dhin-chak, dhin-chak!!

I loved today's episode. Barun Sobti, Sanaya Irani and Abhaas Mehta were wonderful with their expressions.
Sanaya Irani - I really liked Sanaya today, with only her eyes peeping out she did well in expressing the fear, the shock, the dread, the tightly clenched eyes awaiting the tires to run over her... phew! And also, I always love a fiery, snappy, enraged Sanaya!
Barun Sobti - All I can say is, it's always a treat to watch you slip from ASR into Arnav within fractions of seconds. It's all in the eyes... a slight drop, a slight glint, a slight spark, a slight softness - how much can you express two sides of yourself with just your eyes Barun!! Awesome you are!!
Abhaas Mehta - Dude, I liked you from the start, then loved to hate you, and now I rub my hands in glee whenever you come because I know you're going to be the creepiest, itchingly bad, annoyingly evil villain that I would love to throw chappals, tomatoes, and rotten eggs on! Loved your performance so far - great work by you!!
To the rest of the IPKKND Team, I am not sure which department does what exactly, so will just say, loved the execution today, loved the silhouette scene, the music, the action scenes stood out for me!!! (Simple stunts, good stunts and very effective ones at that!) brilliant action shots!! And oh, how can I forget the jeep tires skidding near Khushi's head! Standing ovation for that piece!!!
CV's - May I please hug you for making Khushi tell Shyam why she could stoop to such low levels?? I'm glad you made that message clear to the audience that Khushi did all out of love for her love/husband Arnav!! Love you guys for giving us such nice episodes!! Keep it simple!
Looking forward to the awww scene tomorrow!!
Kidnapping track over!!! Yayyy! 😃
Toodle-doo,
Nia 😊
