CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL ARSHI FANS! WE MADE IT ONE YEAR!
Ok, this is a OS I wrote in honor of IPKKND's first year anniversary! hope you enjoy!
Khushi had been calling him for hours and it was now 9 O'clock, and he still wasn't picking up the damn phone. She was getting worried and angry. She remembered that morning and what had happened.
*flashback*
"Arnav, today, mein bohut khush rahe hoon. (I'm very happy.) Do you know why?" she asked with a smile as she did his tie. She picked up his vest as she waited for his answer.
"No. Why are you so happy?" he asked uninterestedly as she waited for his wife to put his vest on. "Khushi, please hurry up, I'm going to be late for my meeting." he urged her on. He saw her smile fade into a frown and blink back her tears.
She moved closer and put his vest on, buttoned it up then did the same with his jacket. Once done, she silently brushed away the invisible dirt that lay on his jacket.
'He doesn't remember. He doesn't remember this day. It's been exactly one year and he doesn't even care. Fine if that's the way he's going to be, I can be the same.' she thought as she started making plans for the two of them.
Arnav saw Khushi murmuring to herself and wondered what she was up to now. He had a feeling it had something to do with today. Too bad he didn't know, he thought to himself as she smirked. He knew he would be surprised when he came home, and she wasn't going to say anything, so might as well wait.
"Khushi, what's wrong?" he asked as he lifted her chin so she could look at him.
"Nothing." she replied, looking away. She freed herself and walked to the door. Just as she turned the knob to open the door, she felt it being pulled from her grasp and being shut again. She looked up and saw a hand resting on the door. She tried to move to the other side and saw another hand raise, locking her in her husband's arms. She slowly turned slowly and came face-to-face with Arnav.
"Arnav, please let me go, you will be late and I have a lot of work to do." she said. He sighed and released her. She walked towards the closet while he rested his head against the door. "Arnav, can you please come home early?" she turned around and asked with her puppy-like face. She saw him turn towards him and nod. She watched him open the door and leave for work.
"Flashback*
Arnav was still in his office, bent over some papers. His phone had rung several times over the day, but he hadn't noticed. He looked up, rubbed his face with fatigue and looked at the clock.
"Shit! She's going to kill me this time." he said as he got up and started putting things away. He walked over to the table by the window and froze. This was where he had let go of her. He remember the delicate feel of her fingers, her eyes closed in fear of what was going to happen. Just as he let go of her hand, her eyes opened in shock, not fully believing he had actually done what he did, as she fell onto a stack if boxes. He knew those boxes were there. That was why he had let go. Even as ASR, he wasn't that cruel to let an innocent person get hurt. He closed his eyes and opened them again.
He finished his packing and locked his office. He reached the lobby and stopped. He turned around and could almost feel the cold water hit his face. He smiled as he thought of what had happened. Then, he had been angry, thinking how dare she do that in front of his workers, but now, he enjoyed those memories the most. The memories where they were always playing tricks on each other. He could almost feel picking up a bucket, and throwing the water back at her. He imagined her sari sticking to her body, showing off all her beautiful curves, her silky hair, wet, sticking to her clothes and body, covering what the clothes couldn't no longer.
He came out of his dreams and continued to his car. He drove home faster than normal and parked his car in the driveway of Shantivan when his phone rang. He took it out and saw that it was Khushi. He got ready for the scolding he was going to get and picked the call.
"Hi Jaan." he said in his sweet voice. He didn't get the same back.
"Don't Jaan me! Where have u been for the past 6 hours?! Where the hell was your phone? I have been trying to call you for 6 hours. I was getting so worried, that maybe something...happened..." she said as they both thought of Arnav's kidnapping.
"I'm sorry, Jaan. I got caught up in the new fashion show we have coming up. I'm fine, Khushi. Don't think about that. I'm here, and talking to you, aren't I?" he asked, knowing what kind of fear she was going through. He had felt the same fear when the man had gotten her and was going after her. He saw raw fear in her eyes and that's all it took. He ripped the screen out of the window ad jumped through. He started punching the guy left and right until he heard her voice, begging him to stop. And that's what brought him back to the call.
"Arnav? Arnav, please answer me! Arnav!" she screamed into the phone, afraid something else had happened.
"Jaan, I'm here. Ok I'm on the street, I will be home in half an hour." he said.
"Theek hai. Khyal rakhna. (Ok, Be careful.)" she said and both disconnected the call. Arnav got out and got his bag. He went inside to an empty house. 'Where is Di, Nani, Mami and Mama, Aakash and Payal?' he wondered. He continued upstairs and slowly opened the door to his room. He saw Khushi staring out the french doors in a sari. He instantly recognized it. It was the sari he had designed her. It was red, with gold embroidery and a beautiful, detailed collar and border. He had given it to her for her birthday.
He slowly walked to her. He wound his arms around her waist and rested his chin in the crook of her neck. He inhale her sweet aroma and sighed. He had missed smelling, seeing, tasting and touching her. He felt Khushi lean back and sigh.
Khushi was staring out into the pool, waiting for Arnav to come home. Not even after 5 minutes, she felt a familiar wind blow across her face. She knew he had come. She then felt the strong, familiar arms she had come to miss go around her waist, pulling her to him. She leaned back against him and sighed, wishing this moment could last forever. After a while of staying in that position, she turned around and looked at him. She felt like she was falling in love all over. She hugged him and thought of the hug they shared in the old warehouse when they freed themselves. She could felt all the emotions again, the fear, the happiness, the worry and the anger. She had been so scared something had happened to him, that she would never see him again. Then when she found him, she was beyond happy. She had been so worried about him. She felt like she had found her other half again. She then felt the anger of him hiding the situation from her. She knew he was in trouble, buy he kept denying it.
"Khushi, Jaan, what happened? Why are you crying?" he asked as he pulled back a little to look at her. He raised his hands and softly wiped her tears.
Khushi didn't even realize she had been crying. Just as she was about to raise her hand to wipe her tears, she felt Arnav's fingers on her cheeks. "I was so worried, so scared. I thought I would never see you again. Then I found you, and I felt my heart being whole again. Arnav, I can't live without you. Don't ever leave me again!" she cried.
Arnav held her while whispering sweet words of love and care. He then remembered that morning when she had said she was happy. "Jaan? What is today? Why were you happy this morning?" he asked with a soft smile playing at his lips.
"You don't remember!?" she screamed softly.
"It's our first anniversary of when we met. On this day," she looked at the clock and saw there was a minute to 9:30 left and waited a couple of second, "at this time, I fell into your arms at the fashion show. How could you forget one of the most important days ever?" she cried.
"I didn't forget." he whispered. She looked up at him sharply and fought to form words.
"But...you..." she tried, but couldn't say anything. For the first time, his chattering wife had nothing to say.
"I was just pretending not to know. How could I forget the way you looked in that green
bridal outfit, and how u fell into my arms. How could I forget the first time I met my amazingly beautiful wife?" he asked her teasingly as a smile spread across his face. He saw her face flush a deep red. "In fact, the reason I left in such a hurry was to get something for you." he said as he let go of her and walked to where he had thrown his bag.
"Really? What is it?" She asked, her eyes wide, a Arnav pulled a square box out of the bag. He turned towards her, hiding the box behind him and walked slowly to her.
"Yes. Now, Khushi, close your eyes." he said as he moved behind her. He slowly lifted her hair an moved to the side, leaving her neck bare to him. He opened the box and took out a beautiful diamond heart necklace that had an "K" and an "A" for their names. He put it around her neck and closed the clasp, leaving a soft kiss on the side of her neck. He heard her gasp, loving the sound she made and smiled. He turned her around and told her to open her eyes.
While putting the necklace on, he remembered Diwali night, when she had told Lavanya that she lost her anklet. He had met her by the poolside and had her sit down on the lounge chair. He bent down, put her foot on her thigh and lifted the skirt of her sari a little to be able to do what he wanted, no NEEDED to do. He took out the small anklet and wrapped it around her small ankle. He clasped it and looked up at her. She looked so beautiful with the light dancing on her face and her hair flying behind her as her breathing fastened.
**The necklace: because i couldn't find the kind i wanted, imagine this with a "K" and an "A" in the middle

She felt something light fall against her chest and a light kiss on the back of her neck, causing her to gasp. Her breathing fastened as she felt him smile against her skin. She felt him turn her around and told her to open her eyes. She opened then to find her smiling husband staring down at her. She moved her fingers to her chest and felt the necklace. Her eyes widened in surprise as she looked up to him. He had a teasing look in his eyes and suddenly she was scared.
"So, Khushi, where is my present? I got you this expensive necklace, custom made, what did you get me?" he asked with his award winning smirk. Her eyes went wider if possible. He loved teasing her, it was so much fun. He never thought he would
"Uhh...your...present...?" she asked as she continued to will her breathing to slow down.
"Yes, Khushi, my present. Where is it?" he asked again. He leaned down and kissed her neck again, causing her to jump.
"I actually have your present right here." she said quickly, the kiss making her speak twice as fast. 'Uff, why am I acting like a young girl at this again, it's been so long since that happened, yet I still feel like it's new."' she thought to herself. She untangled herself from him and walked to her side of the bed and pulled something out. She walked back to him and gave him something wrapped in red wrapping paper. She smiled as she watched him open the papers, anticipating his reaction to her news. They had talked about this a lot, and finally when she went the other day, she had finally gotten the news they both wanted. News that would change the rest of their lives.
Arnav slowly opened the wrapping paper, excited to see what it was. He opened the last piece of paper to see a Manila folder, reading confidential in big red letters across the top. He raised his eyebrow in confusion, trying to figure out what this folder had in it.
"Khushi, what is this?" he asked, confusion and a little bit of disappointment leaking into his voice.
"Uff, Arnav! Don't ask so many questions, just open the file and read what is in there." she said impatiently.
He went back to the folder and opened the front cover. On the first page had the name of hospital Di went to as his wife's name. It had her records, such as her height, weight, any medications she was taking, general stuff.
"Arnav, go to the last page!" she said.
Arnav looked at her and skipped to the last page as she said. The title of the page said "RESULTS", he continued reading down and when he got to the last line, his face broke out into a huge smile. "Saach hai? (Is this true)" he asked, not actually believing the words on the file. He watched her nod as her smile spread, knowing his reaction. He picked her up and spun her around. He put her down and held her face in his hands, as if she was made of the most fragile material on earth, letting go would mean letting the most precious thing break.
"I'm going to be a... Father?" he asked again, wanting to make sure.
"Yes, Arnav. I'm pregnant." she said. Finally believing it, he brought her face closer and kissed her, putting in all his emotions in to this one kiss.
"We have had one year to make memories. We have many more years to make more." he said as he picked her up in his arms and carried her to bed.
He gently put her down and said "It's been one year of memories." and kissed her, spending the rest of the night in each others arms.
