As far as grammar goes...I understand many people here are not as comfortable in English so I have no comment on that but yes, I am unable to read FFs which dont have a proper grammar and spellings.

I am OK with minor oversights - you can totally differentiate between bad grammar and an occasional typo.

Every author has his/her own audience, though. I know of people who just want to read stories irrespective of how they are written.

The question in my mind is that if someone is comfortable in their own language say Hindi, why would they not write in that? Since we all watch a Hindi show, I am sure there will be lots of readers who would read stories written purely in Hindi.

Exactly.

But the issue here is that many people have an issue understanding Hindi (I have been requested countless times for translations of my work which I have started with my OSs etc because they cannot get the Hindi dialogues I put in there so as to be true to the context). However many ff sites have a function of a Beta reader who can help you out with the editing, language, spellings etc...If anyone has problems, they can ask their friends for help. :)

Thanks about this one... Being a literature student, it is a complete no-no for me. I correct stuff more than I read. I simply lose interest.

I don't read the posts/FFs that are in shorthand -- my opinion all the way 😃.. I hate 'txt' talk 😕

Some short hand are extremely difficult to read. So I prefer to avoid.

I prefer posts written in full English, my personal pet hate is when people use "an" instead of "And" its NOT the same thing and never will be so please add the "D" at the end. Another is when a post is written with a mixture of lower and upper case letters.. in the wrong places. tHiS iS nOt hOw wE uSe eNgLiSh (having said that i havent come across it on the forum lol)

However i can totally understand if a person feels comfortable writing in their own language, my preference is English and i cant speak Hindi well or write it, if i see a post written in hindi i try and see if i understand if not i wait for a few responses and go back and check - someone summarises the post.

But if a person is happy writing in short hand, i just choose to ignore and find a post i find i can respond to 😊
