I completely hate it when I find a good FF and it's in short hand form. Grammar is essential!

Not so much grammar cos given that members come from all over the world and English is a second language to many it would rather rude and hoity-toity of everyone to expect publishing quality work. However, net speak is a whole new ballgame- if you know how to net speak, you know how to write normally! The debate was about the use of abbreviations like "da" for "the." Given that the difference was just one letter, I thought that writers should put a little more effort into it!

Yes, basically about net speak, but there is no standard one. So people are setting their own standards and there was a talk about whether they should be used in FFs. I thought it was interesting. In my reply, I agreed with Ashna about net speak, stellar grammar though is excusable given the variety in languages we have. That's my take anyway. I am not telling people how to post anything, just wanted a poll to see how others feel.

i dont read them unless theyre really interesting. there have been very few i have come across till now that i read regardless of the screwed up writing. I apologize but i cant read shorthand writing. It annoys the crap out of me cause half the thing goes above my head and i see no point in it. No offense but if youre writing something and putting in efforts then why not add a little more work and make it perfect. I personally think all writers on here are quite talented. I hate writing and suck at it. so when i read somebody's piece there is respect from my side. But grammar has a big role in impressing me.
