HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS
After a long time, Khushi is back to her place of utmost comfort.
After being blackmailed into marriage, facing the ire of both families alone, living with the person day-in-and-day-out who hasn't offered her any definite answers for the reason behind their artificial marriage, being threatened, taunted, being the victim of hate-anger-insults, and being snubbed for her genuine care - it is of little wonder that Khushi relishes the taste of giving a dose of the same medicine to the perpetrator of all her pain, tears, hurt, loneliness, and troubles - Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada.
Who wouldn't be glad to be on safe turf again? The place that harbours their happiness, their loved ones, their memories, and their place of security? A haven, where one can relive the old times, where the warm, tender love of a mother exists. A secure hand of one's father to ease the sorrows, a firm yet kind-hearted aunt who adds extra spice to the day. An alcove of laughter, light-heartedness, care, devotion, love and smiles that make any simple day a special one. Everything seems the same, the people, the lanes, the home, the rooms, the porch... but the heart? The heart is no longer the same. It has been brutally hurt and scarred. So much so, that the pain has been repressed, and a veneer of child-like approach to seriousness covers it expertly.
The sub-conscious mind however is pretty smart. It keeps a record of the amount of pain and hurt one has gone through - and manifests these into tactics to punish the perpetrator as and when a suitable opportunity crops up. This is why, Khushi, a victim who has battled for her righteousness all this while all alone, is thrilled at a golden opportunity to teach a few lessons to the person who wrecked her innocent world.
Our old Khushi was naiive yet smart, silly yet clever, a regular clown yet witty, sensitive yet firm, child-like yet mature, crazy yet sensible, obedient yet rebellious (mostly with Arnav), respectful yet frank... you can add more to this list. Our current Khushi however, has been tainted harshly by the circumstances (I had written a post on this some days back - Natural Khushi vs. Circumstance Khushi, see end of this post for the link if reference is required). To give a brief outline, Natural Khushi vs. Circumstance Khushi was to depict the difference in Khushi's character before marriage and after marriage. Her original qualities have been overshadowed now by new qualities that go against the basic nature of Khushi as we have known her.
It is quite a marked difference - the original qualities are subdued now, and an erratic nature has become Khushi. This erratic nature however, shows us how disturbed Khushi is internally. She clutches at any idea (Swami act), any thought (moun vratt for two days, plus disappearance act for Arnav), any belief and goes with it, without thinking about the consequences, without asking relevant questions, without realizing that her true nature has been pushed to a corner - with occasional glimpses of it only when something really drastic takes place. (Her genuine concern, care and love while looking after Arnav is the best recent example).
But, her genuine concern for Arnav while he was ill was played with by Arnav (who tells her the next day that his fainting was all an act. Arnav actually lied about this to Khushi for selfish reasons, but she is unaware of this fact). So, from her perspective, her true feelings have been messed with yet again. This leads us to Khushi taking on the challenge to smother Arnav with her love.
This is where her repressed hurt comes in to play. While her Swami act was above board, Khushi resorts to mild displays of wifely conduct with Arnav. Now that she's back to her place of strength, she'll increase the attention, devotion, and care to this man - just to irritate him out of his depths.
This time she's involving her family in it too (indirectly). The true, original Natural Khushi would look askance if someone had told her to get her family involved in getting back at the Shaitan. She would have probably lectured them on ethics and morals - but Circumstance Khushi is enveloped with a desire so strong to push Arnav into total discomfiture, that the idea of putting her folks in a shady light doesn't even cross her mind.
Still, she is unaware of her own dormant love that sub-consciously drives her to be considerate, thoughtful, caring and kind-hearted toward him amidst all her plans to create havoc in his life just as he did in hers. (Her thoughtful gesture of getting Arnav's comfort - his plant along conveyed her caring, sweet, thoughtful nature). Combine this moment with the next where her family members cook bland food on Khushi's explanation that Arnav is sick (done just to pester him) - and it shows Khushi's current Erratic nature again!
There's a tug of war between love and dislike for Arnav within Khushi. The circumstance Khushi is aware of the dislike for him, but the awareness of unexpected feelings in certain encounters is starting to confuse our Sankha Devi.
Home is where the Heart is. Khushi is at home, a place where her heart, her innocence, her true nature, and her genuineness are nurtured. She has gone back to her roots - the very place where her true nature stems from. Will her original nature push through those recesses of her soul and grow again?
Today, she and Arnav went one step at a time to reach the door of Khushi's soul, Khushi's heart. Khushi went across the Rangoli quite nimbly - and reached her true destination. Arnav stands on the fray, unsure of how to approach her love. She guides Arnav - nicely at first, teasingly mid-way and finally gives her hand out to him to help him overcome the last hurdle. Arnav, with Khushi's help steps right in front of her, stepping up to his love!
But before all this happens, Circumstance Khushi needs to wake up her natural self from the stupor, or else, the erratic nature will continue. When will this happen? Hmm... Who knows, Only time!
I'll leave you with the song 'Only Time' by Enya. Perfect for Arnav and Khushi at this moment. Enjoy!!

Who can say
where the road goes
where the day flows
Only time
And who can say
if your love grows
as your heart chose
Only time
Who can say
why your heart sighs
as your love flies
Only time
And who can say
why your heart cries
when your love lies
Only time
Who can say
when the roads meet
that love might be
in your heart
And who can say
when the day sleeps
if the night keeps
all your heart
Night keeps all your heart
Who can say
if your love grows
as your heart chose
Only time
And who can say
where the road goes
where the day flows
Only time
