Below is my analysis:
When I saw this scene, the only thought that passed my mind is that Khushi has really learnt how to manipulate this guy. She knew Arnav will never come easily to the Gupta House (GH). She, thus, manipulated the situation so that the two important ladies of his life emotionally blackmail him. Arnav was aware of what Khushi was trying to do, he knew about her motive and her game plan but still he gave up albeit only on his terms. Why? Thats because though he is not a man who likes to lose, he is a person who knows which battles to pick,which games to play. We have seen him doing this many times, he has taken a step back but came back with a stroke that has clean bowled the opponent. One of the times was with Shyam on the wedding day, when Shyam taunted him to reveal the truth to Anjali.That time Arnav took a step back, gave up because he knew if he followed that path, the only person who will be drastically hurt will be Anjali. He thus decided to play the game that will shift the scale to Shyam's emotional ground, Khushi. Anjali remained unaware, Khushi faced the brunt, Shyam suffered. Arnav won. Well, I have always said that, that time Arnav did not take his emotions into consideration and he is still fighting that inner battle but the point is Arnav always plays those games that he is sure he is going to to win. This was also proved in recent times with Khushi, when after bearing all her antics he knocked her out with Payash divorce papers and again with the lie he said regarding his fainting. In all these cases, though emotions were a big part, he was able to damp those emotions and achieve his goal.
But there is one person, in front of whom his this tactic will never work, where it will fail because in her case only his emotions guide him. He is not able to damp his emotions,he is not able to think logically and that person is Anjali.Everything Arnav has done till date is for her. His business, his family, his marriage, his manipulations all revolve around her. He has dedicated his whole life and he can do anything for her. He is just incapable of refusing her anything. Only her happiness matter to him and for that he can sacrifice anything.
Saying this, there will be a time when this brother and sister will be standing on the opposite sides, where truth will be the downfall of their world, of their relationship. That time one will have to sacrifice their marriage, their love for the other. That time emotions will rule, emotions for the lover and emotions for the siblings. That time it will be a choice between sibling or lover. That time the only thing that will guide them will be their goal, Anjali's to keep her pseudo world intact, Arnav's to keep Anjali happy. Thus, Arnav will have no choice but to give up, to sacrifice, to step back and he will step back not on his terms as we saw today but on his sister's term and on his lover's term. That time Arnav will have no choice but to lose, lose his happiness, lose his love and lose his soul because he will know that what he is doing is wrong, that he is again committing a sin, that he is again punishing the wrong person. That time Arnav will have not have any battle to choose from, he will have no venue, he will have no comeback, he will have nothing because any battle, any game, any path will only result in one outcome and that is death of Anjali's happiness, his life's only goal.
In the past days, Khushi has started understanding Arnav, well not exactly understanding him but knowing him. She has started having an insight in his behavior and she has started recognizing his habits. She has gained knowledge about his like- dislikes. She knows about his various quirks. She knows what makes him tick. She has learnt how to manipulate him and how to make him angry. She understands that he values his work and loves his family. She knows that he can do anything for them. She knows that he is not comfortable with children, he is not a person who can do small-talk. She knows he loves the comforts that money has given him and that he is a creature of habit. She perceives that he is a person who only likes to live within the boundaries of his defined space, that his comfort zone. She knows that his sister is the most important thing for him world and for her he can do anything but the most essential thing that she has realized about Arnav is that he gets maximum solace from his plants. His plants give him peace and they make him happy.
-- This scene was captured quite beautifully - it was nice to see the sensitive-caring old Khushi again. The boundaries of reaching out to each other is jsut expanding day by day. Hoping that it will intensify with their stay at GH!
Saying this, recently, her mission has only been to make his life as uncomfortable as possible, to trouble him and make him so angry that he blurts out the truth. She wants to understand his unreasonable behavior towards her, she wants to know the reason behind the marriage and thus, in pursuit of his goal, she today uprooted him from his comfort zone, from his house to a place where she knows he is going to have a tough time adjusting. She knows how important "class" is to him and he is going to have a battle on his hand, living in GH, day in and day out, but still she did it. She knows he is going to hate every minute there but still she pursued it because her goal is important to her. But somewhere, she knows Arnav is not a bad person, he has a reason for his actions. She knows that somewhere there is still that person within who got a truckload of plates for her, who gifted her bangles, who went crazy for her and she still has feelings for that person.She has seen glimpses of that person and that person is still important to her, important enough that she ensured that she got that one thing with them that will give him solace, that will give him comfort, that will give him peace and will help him adjust, his plant. She cared enough about him, that in midst of everything she thought about him and for him,she thought about his comfort and his need. Well, if this is not love, then what is?
