I think Shyam loves Khushi in his own odd way, but in an obsessive and psychotic manner unlike Arnav. Shyam's love is selfish and driven by lust. He wants Anjali's money and Khushi's body. I don't think the man is even capable of sincerely loving someone but since Khushi is his current fascination, maybe he felt a little sympathy for her when she was being mocked on stage.

nice explanation..he has been shown to care about her from the beginning..remember how he dragged the doc to the gupta house after she got injured..
