I personally like the freedom of it because finding parts in different pages get confusing. Much better if I find every part on the first page and links to the previous parts are given. It organizes things from a writer's and a reader's perspective. That is how I see it anyway. If the mods even get in on that, I am going to stop writing on IF because I am not going to do the one thread thing.

OOPS.. did u..??. it does and i agree but the fan fic rule clearly states that all the updates should be on one thread... these days m into the discussion forum n not the FFs cz of my exams so i found many new writers who started their posts on new thread..
btw the mods are already on that hun.. n every one else have accepted that rule long ago.. this rule came along with the fan fics.. .. n the rest of us r following it...

I mean agreed the fan fic rule makes us lose our readers and not attract potential readers but where the rest of the writers r following it, I think we shud step in and correct a newbie if they spam the forum

Oh. Thank God.

I find it so frickin annoying! I get it that its messy to find chapters in a single thread but as a reader, I find it irksome to open different topics for one ff.

Why don't we make ONE POST for all the writers to post their index of writings...so that it's easier for us to find and follow them..what say?
Would you support that? It will be easier for us readers to find ur writings..😃

I guess it would work. . . .

But there are so many writers in this forum, that even this aforementioned index would be cluttered. . .

Can't blame the writers too. . . .

ArHi are actually that inspirational!! ⭐️

I have written both and prefer the latter. If there are so many rules I can't be bothered. I am thinking of making my own blog or not writing at all after finishing my last SS. Too many silent readers here anyway.

honestly, I don't mind if ppl don't comment on my OS. I am happy if someone clicks the like button. Because even I do the same to most OS's.
The reason being at times, after reading an OS, sometimes you won't have anything to say about it. It happens with me. I'm a person of few words and I only comment if something was really outstanding in that OS. Or else I comment on those new writers to encourage them. I think the appreciation to a work is shown by the 'like' itself. So instead of just commenting, 'Nice' or 'Awesome', I don't comment at all.

But what irks me the most is I send around 300+ pm's and some of them don't even bother to open the pm or read the OS. And that is frustrating. Then what was the whole point of sending buddy request to be on pm list?

@ OP

I am not sure i understand what your trying to say... if a someone reads your story then the reader ought to comment.. is that what you are saying?

I aint continuing my FF because of the same reason
i had to pm more than 150 readers, only 20 ppl had the courtesy to reply 'Update soon' .
This was such a put off for me that i have no idea where my FF is now.

Hi Mary

I haven't read all the nine pages of this thread, but wanted to add my two cents to the discussion from my perspective.

First, I would like to acknowledge all the writers on these forums. You do some wonderful work. Writing is a talent that I wish I had, but sadly, creativity is not my forte so I Iove losing myself in the writing of others.

Second, when I read something, I will hit the 'like' button but tend to get stuck when it comes to comments. I don't like being critical because, to be honest with you, whilst I appreciate that critical feedback drives your work, I often wonder if all writers take critical analysis in that spirit. Previous experience with providing feedback has resulted in some not so nice remarks about me not appreciating the hard work of the writer (please note, I am not a rude person and do mind my manners when posting feedback). Maybe its a case of once burnt, twice shy... Having said that, I take on board your point and will try and be be more proactive as a reader :)

Lastly, sometimes the stories are so beautiful that all I can say is 'loved it'.. which is what I do most of the time. Reading the work here is my magic door into the world of escapism, and I want to lose myself in the story not argue about the technicalities of good vs bad writing. So, to all the dear writers, thank you for providing the magic doorway for me and countless others...

naina
